With a beat you have a fixed tempo, you have a fixed speed you progress through and one that you write your bars to. In battle rap there's no beat and crowd reaction. From people reacting to people not reacting it's a much different atmosphere. Plus I don't understand why they keep acting like Budden is the first one to step in the ring. Canibus stepped in and got destroyed by Dizaster, but of course they don't mention that shit. Madchild from Canada stepped in and held his own against Dirtbag Dan, but it wasn't a performance that anyone considered top 5 or anything like that. Won't matter. Regardless of the differences between battle rap and making music, all it comes down to is whether or not Joe & Hollow put out a solid performance. It's a win for the culture if both come on point.
