"I think we put 50 rappers in the top 20"
Truer words have never been spoken.
They didn’t even put 15 in the top 20
@ Not what they meant
I agree with Rory though lol. You have to say it unfortunately lol
After this conversation even I think I gotta be in top 20...
Alex kapa me too I’m in there 🙌🏼
You're in my top ten

Sleeping on GZA liquid swords is an all time album
Dan Devine your mind >
Thank you. Favorite Wu solo album ever
WestCoast rappers aren't known for their artistry or lyrical content. Though I really love ICE CUBE👍🏿...after that it's a little grim..Kendrick, and Crooked I are phenomenon, and definitely should get a mention in the top 20-50.
Puryear Venable Kendrick is definitely top 5, Cole is nowhere near top 60 hella overrated
No question
Personally, it goes Reggie, Jay-Z, Tupac and Biggie. Andre from Outkast, Jada, Kurupt, Nas and then me.
😉
Turd
But who's 10?
SPAWN_ Em and the rest
Tupac,BIG, slim and eminem lol
SPAWN_ that’s his top 10: he named 9 but everyone just takes it as read that Rakim #1 ☺️✌️
he gotta be top........ 20
Franco Mariani of course. He better be. He's nasty!
Franco Mariani KRS one, rakim, big daddy kane, chuck D, kool G rap, slick rick and ll cool j in their own top 10 in my opinion that fat fucker really think they top 20 c'mon men you don't know shit about real MC'S mase, ja rule, 50 cent whose those dudes are they ain't doing shit anymore
"FOR ME"
Franco Mariani lmao
Cam is definitely a top 10 rapper of the 00s (‘00-‘09)...that’s a fact 💯
If anyone... Em got his blueprint from REDMAN... And Em acknowledges Reggie as his favorite rapper
LL was hij favorite rapper.
Can you explain why the fuck you called him by his first name?
Patrick Baar wrong Em has said this on record and on video
Red man is his favorite but I definitely don’t see the influence in Em’s music
This is pretty much what I was going to say, and anyone who doesn't have Redman in their at least top 15 is crazy
Mal looked straight hurt when they said Drake a pop star and not going on the list
Popstar not a doctor
Absolute truth tho
@@chrispy9736 lol savage 😂
@@chrispy9736 I hope we also exclude Lil Wayne from the list because he's a self professed "rockstar"

the lack of west coast is disturbing lol
This podcast is heavily east coast biased being someone thats from out west but loves this podcast its probably the most annoying thing about this podcast for me tbh
4:28
Bro west coast is waaaaaak ... it’s those funk noises that throw it off. By the way snoop , dre, and pac are/were legends
How you gonna count all these Source cover models above Earl the Ambassador?!
East coast is the shit bro...

HAHAHAH
Ledge
Rakim spits lyrics of fury!
This is FAR more entertaining & interesting then having the same old "Nas, Em, Pac, Jay, Biggie" conversations we've all heard a million times.
Isaiah Ross Yeah I hate those Nas, Em, Pac, Jay, Biggie, Kanye conversation just the worst
Can’t help that they were great artist, I mean for an artist in their early 20s to be spitting shit like a nigga in their 30s is goin to solidify their legacies at the top of the pile so i see nothing wrong with that
*than
Nas Em Pac Jay Biggie are still the greatest tho .And no one comes even close breaking this 5
Anybody that has Eminem anywhere near their top 5 is unseasoned as fuck.
Joe budden is definitely in my top 90-100
🤣😂🤣
I bet you feel so important right now...

Top 2000 maybe
I feel like Mal has about 50 rappers in his Top 20.
So we are just going to ignore MF DOOM🤔
Edit REST IN POWER DOOM
Jamees Woodhouse who's doom
Jae KiDd All caps when you spell the mans name
DOOM is the butter smooth super villian with a fantastic 4 album back to back run
DOOM Del Kool Keith Ras Kass
Yes, because he's an overrated garbage rapper who only fantano dickriders like and white teens who think they know hip hop. Which is also the majority of fantano dickriders.
Any list that has Cam and Mase ahead of Prodigy is invalid.
Prodigy had hard bars. Painted crazy verbal pictures
Facts
Any list that has Cam and Mase in the top 20 or 25 should be thrown into a fire.
Straight up Mobb Deep fan since day one. I would put P & Cam close to each other. Arguable
Prodigy is way way more talented than cam. Wow
Trech is always SO underrated...his flow was so ahead of his time
Who tf
@@elijahangel2473 treach dumbass lol
Treach is definitely underrated as a rapper and influencer a lot of rappers stole treach style in the 90’s
Mal really said Em stole Cam blue print lmao! Wtf is he talking about.
Hes talking about as far as cracking jokes on tracks.. the humor aspect...
He stole redmans blueprint...the alter egos and comedy styles n psychotic styles...drug rap...the whole thing...lol
@LostItt he was az n nas on his first album...n then he adopted the slim shady alter ego...the crazy eccentric goofy animated serial killer...which was just redman...n he was using his real name as an alternate ego...like Reggie noble...he was about popping pills...redman was about smoking weed...his videos were animated n goofy n humorous...theres alotta similarities...the only difference is...em evolved a lil more n started making songs about his personal life but his most critically acclaimed albums are when he was a a n angry comedic rapper like on his 1st two albums...plus he did make his version of Superman lover on the Eminem show which was a homage to redman too...
"I dont harlem shake im shakin the weight, shakin the jakes, kill you shoot the funeral up and harlem shake at ya wake." Cam would always find a funny way to say some hard shit... Kinda like em.
@LostItt cam was rapping like Eminem before Eminem...and I think em is top 5-10 but he def hasn’t influenced any rappers coming up
“Eminem took Cams blue print”
HUH?!
Because Camron was on that do drugs and sleep with your aunt shock rap stuff that Eminem was rapping about when the Slim Shady LP came out. Cam changed his style and subject matter when his second album came out.
@@ouncesthebasssnatcher5255 nah bruh, Em had Redman's blueprint

navagnaes nigga wat? Then I guess u can see similarities if u was supposed to compare anyone’s writing . Eminem ain’t get shit from Cam.
"Cam was the blueprint for Eminem" made no sense. I'm glad they moved on quickly
dka3596 he just misspoke, cam n Eminem were similar, a lot of ppl in the hood did think em took cam style, simply because 9/10x They heard cam b4 em
Ray Taker people also claim he bit canibus, need to make up their minds
gnarly sniff I don't see the comparison between can and em, I think canibus the better rapper/lyricist but Eminem the better artist
Ray Taker the fact that everyone is trying to say em copied other MCs just proves how delusional his haters are. Apperantly em bit off AZ, Cannibus cam nas etc. All bs.
Medelhavs Korv on infinite he sounded like nas but a lot rapper's after illmatic did
GZA’s Liquid Swords album is 🔥🔥🔥

delivrex Why?
delivrex most people don't understand this joke. If you weren't at least 13+ when making of the band came out...
It's a reference to the Iron Solomon vs E Ness battle . E Ness was in the show Making da Band with Dylan .... Dylan fucked him up in a fight So Iron Solomon mocked him and said in their battle, ""rappers that are better are Dylan Dylan Dylan and Dylan "" So it's a Joke. .. Got it?....Good!

Sports Drugs and Entertainment (SDE) is often overlooked when talking about Cam. He was a bit more versatile dabbling with ish talking, storytelling, and conceptual songs. It made me pay attention to him and look forward to Come Home With Me.
The Game is a classic artist that I personally respect as a story teller and can fit so many beats and styles
The Game in a way is the West Coast’s 50 Cent, The Documentary was a classic
The game? He. Starts drama drop names to be relevant
The Slim Latino 50 Cent wrote the top 2/3 hooks on that album
And he is battle tested too lol
The game is Lame 😒
Outside of the obvious picks there was no mention of Black Thought, Lupe, Royce, GZA, Pig Pun, Canibus, Fab, Lloyd Banks, and many more I am forgetting who could out rap many dudes
Pig Pun? Little disrespectful
Damn man watching this pod after seeing their success on Spotify, wow. Hats off to the team.
2Pacs music is timeless! 💯 I can still listen to it this day and it'll feel like the first time I heard it! And I liked that he talked about REAL shit...wasn't always the same degrading talk about sex, drugs and money....he had depth to his music. He accomplished so much in a short amount of time, there's no denying that. His music was ahead of that time, that's why you can still listen to it now and it sounds new. Tupac is definitely in my top 5.💖

But we are listening to new yorkers soo
I like pac but stack bundles was even a better rapper
And max b too
@Jamaal Davis I know that...but he claimed the bay and LA
Still think Biggie was just better…not lyrically speaking but commercially and critically for sure
This dude really compared Camron to Em

These dicussions are almost impossible to have because there are so many varying factors .... influence, impact, lyricism, versatility, longevity, creativity, passion, punching ability, classics, hits etc. Depending on what fans like most or which attributes they favor more ... there will always be clashes and arguments.
Comment God thats what makes it great
punching ability? this aint boxing lol
Lifestraight just in case you aren't joking ... Some fans favor punchlines as their favorite attribute when it comes to ranking rappers ... Its a lot of niggas who got Cassidy top 5

5.Lil Wayne-lyrical word play and one of the first rappers with cross over appeal
4.Jay Z-Conscious rap with cross over appeal and longevity
3. PAC- Poetic delivery with various content. He also had a huge catalog with such short time.
2. 👑 Nicki Minaj-I know a lot are gonna read this and wonder why she’s listed so high. Nicki has the ability to jump on almost any track of any genre and can ride the beat. Crazy lyrical word play with multiple entendres with the ability to switch dynamics a few times within 1 track. Quite skilled at delivering a verse to any song. Gives personality to her verses with cross over appeal. She doesn’t get much credit for her skill because she’s a female but she honestly competes with the males.
1. 👑 Eminem- He has a way of giving his verses personality. Can deliver with killer speed & execution. He has multiple dynamics with some word and let’s not forget his longevity.

It can be hard to put certain legends before your time high up on the list. Kind of like a lot of really young gamers might not appreciate Super Nintendo, Dreamcast, or N64 the way someone who grew up during that time does. I prefer the classic game consoles and I know my reasoning is partially biased. You remember the excitement you felt when a console or record came out. The music of some legends (just like some old games) age/transcend time better than others. I personally think Rakim's music has aged very well because he was so ahead of his time lyrically that most of his rhymes don't sound dated and you can hear his influence in the styles of a lot of rappers that came out after him. Rakim would be in my top 20. KRS One, on the other hand, wouldn't make my top 40. I know many people put him in their top 10 but I don't get it. I don't get the hype around his music, although I know a lot of the importance in what he contributed to hip-hop.
Joshua McCool real talk...ur right even though games gotten better in graphics nothing will beat Golden Eye, Smash brothers, Smack down here comes the pain and MK3...that was my weekend as a kid in the basement
Alot of younger cats don't know about real hip hop point blank n appreciate lyricism n a phat dark ass beat like us kats that came up in the 80's n 90's, im 1980 myself so I was the perfect age to have all this great music comin out when I was a teenager n even a couple of years b4 that, my first hip hop album was EAZY DUZ IT so that's like 88. Us older kats can't handle (n rightly so) when some 18 Yr old tries to spit on the golden era type rappers who are sooo much better than most of the the bigger new rappers (underground has always had proper spitters), i do like Joey Baddass n kendrick, oh n schoolboy Q for that street shit but those kinds of artists are givin a big nod to the 90's hip hop. I jusr don't get why people have to try n fix something that ain't broken na mean. I'd rather listen to an older mc anyways that has lived a bit of life n been round the tracks a few times cause they got a real story to tell but what does some teenage mc have to say that your gonna feel apart from the rare young ones that have lyrical concepts that go past their years like Nas, Mobb Deep n shyhiem back in the day. They were all mad young when they came out n apart from Mobbs first attempt they were all classic albums that had concepts u would expect to come from a rapper over ten years older than they were when they dropped their first proper debut albums (I don't count mobb Deeps very first album b4 their balls had dropped n their voices still sounded like little kids) but the infamous to me was their proper debut their voices were deeper n that QB slang they used made a dope album same with Nas he really sounded older with the content he was spittin n the maturity he shows on ILLMATIC aswell just like the MOBB n Shyhiem was representin when he was like 14 even b4 the wu tang affiliation but it wasn't no bow wow or soldier boy pop soundin kid shit he was rappin bout the real n u believed him even though he was so young n just as a testament to the respect he had he was on stage droppin freestyle with Biggie, Tupac n big daddy Kane, 3 legends at that young age if you've heard the full version of that live show at the garden or somewhere similar, usually u only hear the Biggie n tupac part where biggies like wot u gonna do with it tupac at the end of his verse but pac drops one of his popular ryhmes think Biggie did the same so not really freestyle but defo a cypher but on stage in front of a massive crowd. Sorry I got a bit carried away tryin to make my point man, I hope u got it in there somewhere ma man ✌️
Don't agree bout KRS 1 the music he did in the early to mid 90's was hella dope but I see your point with the older stuff he was on the BDP stuff, u listen to that now n it does sound dated well most of it anyway, still love 9mm from the criminal minds album with Scott la rock(R I P) BUT songs like a freind n step into the world n most of all the song called THE MC now that song will be dope til the word ends if u haven't heard it look it up that song is a true classic from KRS

His foray into pop also sours his ranking too.
Never would've made my top 50 he's always been mediocre to above decent to me
@@jaleelthompson927 straight facts but if we being honest drizzy can really spit he one of the greats without a doubt
@@ayreezy4141 nah he really not if you talking lyrics, flows, uniqueness, punch lines, rhyme structures he's not even top 50 for most real rap heads
Drake top ten
Y'all insane. Drake is top 10. Y'all gonna have to hate on some of the best rap songs ever to deny drake that
I think we need contender lists then we select from that list to put them in a structured top 10 like we have a bracket of rappers you could consider top 10 a bracket you could consider top 20 ext and then decide on the placement
I understand NY cats gonna side with NY but I know mad cats that was bumping Chronic Doggystyle and many other non-NY albums
I was wondering this shit as a New York head
Alot of shit they mentioned was ny shit
Ice Cube never comes up in the conversation but he's top 5 for me...
VZA thank you my fave rapper of all time and one of the biggest impacts
Ice Cube gets underrated because he mostly sticks to fundamental rhyme schemes over virtuosity, but he’s definitely top 5 in the storytelling department.
Ice cube is a legend no doubt, but personally i just dont think he would even land in my top 10. Like someone else said he sticks to the fundamentals, which isnt such a bad thing, but it doesnt lead me to believe he can really do anything that most rappers cant
He's always in my top 5
Facts
T.I. Paper Trail is a classic album to me. And his life testimony imbedded in it 💯
Great album but Trap Musik and Urban Legend are far better
Ti definitely ain’t a top 20 rapper
Paper trail was probably his best commercial album but king is the one
i died laughing when mal said “did rakim ever spit a hook?”😂😂😂😂😂
im convinced joe is just a troll
7:36 to Rory’s point, I know they tried to rank Mase, but he might be the perfect example of a legendary rapper with only 1 classic album in his catalog.
Mmmmphhh depends on who you ask. I've never listened to it but ask a guy like charlemagne or even parks (which is a documented convo look up mase joe budden and you should see charlemagne) Harlem world to them isnt classic simply because it havent aged well. His words not mine as a matter of fact I'm finna go watch that rn so excuse me
Donny Jones So then name a legendary rapper with one classic album. Jay Electronica?
This guy put Confessions of Fire on the same level as the Purple tape?? 🤣🤣🤣..... His word can no longer be looked at as relevant.
Eminems first album was in 1996 INFINITE Album.
they said first “real” album because his debut lp was slim shady
If you gotta say “it might be a classic” it’s not a classic fam.
Big facts
Facts
Dj premier says paid in full is the best rap album period, and when someone commented about Illmatic he said it can’t even be mentioned next to paid in full
Phonte is very slept on by mainstream fans. Dudes lyricism and versatility is other worldly
Myles Bankhead Facts bro
Elzhi, Planet Asia, Willie The Kid etc.. underground is just a whole different breed
Thanks, not put Little Brother on for a while!
This the episode that put me on to this podcast
Confessions of Fire came out in ‘98 & The Slim Shady LP came out in ‘99 but remember, albums are done damn near a year prior to release back in those days
my top 10: eminem, jay z, lupe fiasco, kendrick lamar, joe budden, nas, jay electronica, royce da 5'9, andre 3000, and blu
Emcee Elkin I swapped Jay E for Fred da godson
That's a dope top 10.
Fuk everybody who forgot lupe fiasco, i swear to god he a monster he is one of the BEST top 10 EASY PLUS put mos def at the top 15
Emcee Elkin Jay Electronica not a rapper though...
I can respect this list
We need a Eminem Vs Lil Wayne Versus battle
@Jared Hutchins eh I doubt it. Just music. Shit and if Wayne goes in the mixtape bag he prolly going to win tbh
Wayne will literally slaughter Em
Wayne would drop Em. There are very very few people that could out rap Em, but Wayne is one of them
For me it’s Wayne but em is a close behind
@@Dwyanerose good joke dawg
Joe's toes have me dying 😂😂 lol
They should do this topic again after having a week to write out their top 20 lists.
Vlad- "where do y'all rank Slim Jesus?"
Top 5 wrappers1) aluminum2) plastic3) tin foil4) paper5) bubble wrap
REPLY
KFC Manager This is mad funny
Aluminum is number 1, but only non sticky!
People sleep on the game " red album" that shit bumps
no1 never put games in a top 10 debate but for me he's 100% got to be in 10 top but for me he's even top 5 ever... the red album he's amazing but doc 1 doc 2 2.5 and Jesus peice all better
@@lukec9845 documentary and doctors advocate are 2 of the best albums I've ever heard, game goes hard asf, not a big fan of his albums after that but those first 2 albums were easily enough for him to make my top 10.
@@takeitorfuckyou personally Jesus peice is my favourite game album, with doc 1 and 2 n 2.5, he's new born 2 rap album pretty decent Aswell, he's a legend man
@@lukec9845 100% agree man he's a legend for sure, born 2 rap was solid asf, Westside bumps and gives me old school game vibes, and gangstas make the world go round goes hard aswell, that "They hatin', n***a, let 'em hate
Bring this Draco to your living room and let it decorate" was a Chris Pratt OMG gif moment for me lol he absolutely destroyed that flow that whole album had some killer lines no doubt, I'd have to say my top 10 would be
2pac
Biggie
Nas
Em
Big L
Ice cube
Jay-Z
Game
Mobb deep (Prodigy)

Brake lights is nice too
Canibus is my favourite rapper, but I still think 2pac is the master of hip hop. He relates with people and know when to mood change. For example: 2pac moves crowds with educational raps, party raps, battle raps and lifestyle raps. 2pac ain't the best punchline, methophar and multi syllable rapper or best lyricists but he knows how to move crowds don't matter what mood you are in. Tupac master the diffenent moods of people and dominated battle rap, educational rap, party raps and lifestyle raps. For each of those category he made a couple of hits songs for each one.
