The list of the greatest rappers should include the names of people who have reached the top in terms of Impact in development of Hip-Hop , Influence on other Rappers, Longevity, Commercial success, Fame, Storytelling, Punchlines, Rap skills (lyricism, cadence, flow)... For now, there are 5 rappers who meet ALL these conditions (no part.order): 2Pac, Biggie, Eminem, Jay-Z and Nas. Top10 + Kendrick, Kanye, Lil Wayne, Andre3k, Rakim

We aren't talking about pure rappers, no one ever is talking about pure rap, because no one actually judges music based on how skilled someone is purely at rapping. Good music that means something to people will always take precident over pure rap skill
Ice Cube should definitely be a top 10 consideration. The writing on SOOC was better than NWAs second album. His first 4 solos range from classic to great. After Eric B And Rakim's first 3 albums and before Illmatic what solo rapper was making the best music? The answer is Ice Cube : 91 into 93 he's the best. He's one of the few rappers you can definitively make a case was the best at some point. I agree with Gibbs being in a Top 50. Over the last 8-9 years he's had a handful of AOTY contenders. Lupe would in my top 10 he's had AOTY contenders in 3 different decades and bar for bar he's one of the all-time greats.

I want a straight top 50 lyricist list cuz I feel like a lot of things that don’t make a great rapper goes into your consideration. This should be more of a top 50 best hip hop artists
My top five 1: Lil Wayne; He’s my favorite because of his actual rapping skills. Despite having many many bad songs, he has just as many and more good songs or amazing ones. He has such a giant amount of songs that you’re bound to find many many songs from him that you’d like even if he doesn’t always make hits. Also lil Wayne features are basically all amazing. 2: Tupac; His emotion and messages in certain songs is very touching. He also has some of the most aggressive and destructive songs and especially for hit em up. He has three in my opinion just near perfect albums in Me Against the world, All Eyez on Me, and Makaveli. 3: Kendrick Lamar; His rapping skill is nearly unmatched and has many interesting performances and vocal range. He also has arguably what I believe is the best rap album ever made. You can rely on each album to touch on important subjects and give a unique feeling. 4: Nas; He made again another arguably best album in rap and a few other amazing albums, Stillmatic also being one of my favorite rap albums (probably in my top 20 or 30). 5: The Notorious B.I.G; He has two near perfect rap albums that give such an interesting range of emotions. (Honorable mentions: Dr. Dre, Andre 3000, DMX, certain members of Wu-Tang, MF DOOM and Tyler the Creator)
32:26 bruh you just talked about lyricist and rapping is taken into consideration and you are placing drake and cole sbove Lupe lmfao whatever the list stinks
You guys dropped the ball with TI and Ross… they have longevity, a classic or 2, they held their own when it came to rapping with the top MCs and they have hits.
Not to shit on someone like Pharoe monch but what has he done that’s special? he literally has 2/3 songs that ppl know of and who has he rapped with? Has he been on songs with ppl like Nas, Wayne, Jay, Kanye and held his own? No… there’s a few more artists up like that up there. No real longevity. These dudes have been around for 15+ … a lot of the older mcs unfortunately didn’t have any longevity
Mos Def and Common not gone get they flowers until they die. Shit is crazy how people can put Drake & Lil Wayne over them and claim they’re hip hop heads.

@@secondary479Lupe is the greatest lyricist of all time and has 5 classics, Food and Liquor, The Cool, Tetsuo and Youth, Drogas Wave, and Drill Music In Zion. The reason I don’t have Lupe at number 1 is because he made bad albums for a few years between the Cool and Tetsuo and Youth because his label was forcing him to make more commercial music and most people switched off from his music. If you haven’t heard his last 3 albums, especially Tetsuo and Youth which is in my opinion the most lyrically dense album ever made, I highly recommend it, songs like Mural, Mural Jr, Ms Mural, Prisoner 1&2, Adoration of the Magi, Wav Files, King Nas, and Precious Things for example are some of the best showcases of lyricism ever in rap but people don’t look out for Lupe anymore.
@@secondary479 bro, listen to the 5 I said or even the songs I listed, I knew you’d do this. I don’t want to argue on here, these songs and albums are great, and the most lyrical rap albums ever made. Please go and listen if you think Lupe only has two classics
Depends on what criterias you weigh higher. For me 50 is nowhere close to GZA, but as a solo artist 50 probably was more impactful and successful. Commercially Wu-Tang wasn't as big anymore after the first wave and lost influence over the years. At least in the general perception. I was and will always be a Wu-fan. Liquid Swords is better than everything 50 has ever done, and GZAs sophomore albums are also better than 50s, even if GZA wasn't really able to create another classic like Liquid Swords. Honestly, if it weren't for GRODT, 50 wouldn't even be in a top 50 discussion for ME.
@@PakRT84 50 came along in the epitome of Hip Hop sales wise. His hype was second only to Snoop in that regard. Wu as a collective has just as much influence as 50 if not more when you talk about world wide and actual influence among the generations. 50 had a huge peak but was very low before and has fizzled out after his 2nd album.
EL-P making neither lists is blasphemous considering what he's contributed to underground hip hop, his amazingly consistently catalog, and his work with RTJ.
Agreed. And he is definitely more interesting and authentic than Drake. I know iam starting to sound oldhead and lame as hell, but so far I never got the Drake hype. I get it for Tyler, Kendrick and a J.Cole, just in case someone says I hate all never artists. But Drake? No..
Great lists, but I feel like some 2010s rappers like Earl Sweatshirt and Vince Staples are criminally underrated. Although as you guys said, time will tell how well their projects will have aged and what their exact impact will be.
drake over j cole is outrageous, and i would also add AZ to the list considering he has one of the best lyricism in the game, and his catalogue is amazing.
(Maybe a hot take) Ghost is my favorite and he cracks the top 5 goats imo. I just think that Supreme Clientele is the Mona Lisa of rap and this album (and Ghost himself) are the epitome of lyricism, cadence, and flow.
I definitely think there's an argument for that, the man spits insane bars and influenced DOOM. Between his work with Wu-Tang and his solo stuff he's has an awe inspiring career.
I think ranking rappers as a whole is too hard because of the difference between artistry and pure lyricism. For me personally Kanye is the best artist in rap by a mile and Lupe is the best lyricist by a mile to me but overall I’d probably rank Nas and Kendrick over both of them because they’re better rounded overall to me
With how horrendously wrong you two so often are, the fact that this started off with Blu making the cut was astonishing. Y'all's credibility needed this.
@Rebletrooper95 that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying with how wrong they often are, I'm shocked at Blu's inclusion..because, not only is it deserved, but Blu is also one of the most underrated ever.

Personally, I don't see the big deal about him. It's not that I think he's terrible... It's that people treat like he's the one-man Beatles of hip hop, or that he's hip hop's version of Mozart. I like Lil Wayne, but I don't see him as this once-in-a-century talent of songwriter and once-in-a-century talent of rapping. Lyrically, I've never been impressed, but I've heard some great flows from him. But... not at the level that people constantly talk about him, as if he's living evidence that God exists.

Tell me why
Ion think it's about pure rappers also considering how high Lauryn was
We aren't talking about pure rappers, no one ever is talking about pure rap, because no one actually judges music based on how skilled someone is purely at rapping. Good music that means something to people will always take precident over pure rap skill
I swear if Lu has Tupac any below #12 ill be pissed
Tupac is trash
He didn't have him in the top 10 so probably 11 or 12 unless the thumbnail is correct

Getting to see SexxyRedd crack the the top 10 was beyond a surprise to me, definitely one of the rappers to ever do it
Ngl putting drake that high is disrespectful to so many rappers
My top five
1: Lil Wayne; He’s my favorite because of his actual rapping skills.

Fun video idea: Get a tracklist and mix around the order of the songs and try to rearrange the songs to be in the same order
This is going to be hard. 50 Cent above GZA is a CRAZY take.
