Fighting this guy for the first time IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, and exhausting all your potions and ammo just to survive and barely beat him, especially if having done the entire dungeon so far in one sitting and have been playing since the evening had made you plenty worn out beforehand, is terrifying.
Six years too late, but this is exactly what happened to me on my play through. Made it so much worse too that this boss was so much harder than all of the others before it lmao
The puppet thing was strange and freaky but also a fresh change from older boss fights. Ganon was extra intimidating in this one for some reason, and when he transformed for the first time it was creepy, I loved this game. The backstory was compelling.
I like how Nintendo actually had the gall to put something so cheesy and silly as the penultimate boss. That silly pig-like puppet and this silly catchy music were the last thing I expected, but I like it. It's got character, it's distinctive, I'll say that.
Ganondorf created a puppet as a sort of twisted mockery of the ‘Ganon beast is slain’ formula This is one of the oldest incarnations of Ganondorf in any Zelda timeline, and at this point, he’s so used to transforming into a beast and being defeated heroically by Link that he’s come to expect it. Couple that with how ambiguous it is that this Link even is the reincarnation of the previous one(s) plus how Ganon knows this, and you have the reason why the Gerudo King is partially not taking this entirely seriously, to the point of summoning a giant ridiculous-looking marionette to defeat Link. Note how it’s not until AFTER the battle that he concedes that this Link is the Hero reborn, implying that he didn’t believe it before, and yeah. He tried to get this giant wooden clusterfuck to off the hero-wannabe to ridicule the boy in spite with an undignified death cause after slaying so many monsters. He also knows that this Link - reborn or not - is ignorant to how these conflicts go, unlike Ganon himself. So the Gerudo is “showing” him what usually happens when they face off in a dark almost-‘parody’ of sorts. Not to mention, his sanity’s slipping a bit, by this point, too, so there’s that... Basically, he’s saying “OH LOOK EVERYONE IT’S THE BIG BAD SCARY MONSTER PIG THING THAT ALWAYS GETS KILLED BY A LITTLE ELF BOY”
Exactly. I've always thought something similar to this about this fight, but more along the lines of Ganondorf mocking the cycle that the goddesses have put in place regarding him and Link.
I digged Puppet Ganon's designs back then. Snake, boar, and spider. Wait... *_Thinks back to Calamity Ganon in BotW..._* _No._ _Way..._ *Was it just a puppet all along!?*
Calamity Ganon = Spider Dark Beast Ganon = Boar Demon Dragon = Snake Ganondorf = Ganondorf All 4 phases of Wind Waker's final boss are represented between BotW and TotK.
Brad Bailey Well, no, no one died, but yes, their culture was destroyed. For instance, all of Hyrule Castle was lost to the waters. It would be like if we lost Washington D.C. The gods (for the most part) destroyed their greatness.
@@bradbailey5481 Its obvious that not everyone survived, and you forgot that the goddesses did a selection of those who are chosen to survive the flood, leaving those who are not chosen to die.
Zelda player from 13 years later here. I find it amusing that one form of the boss mimic Ganon at the end of OOT, and that now, with BOTW, we have Calamity Ganon that has a snake and a spider form too
darkbrony They are now that you mention it. It wouldn't surprise me if this theme was inspired by OoT's Gohma theme then, and that this in turn inspired TP's Armogohma theme.
Tp and tww weren't released at the same time tww was released in 2003 tp was released in 2006 and filling tp for wii was in 2008 not to be rude just saying I'm a zelda freak and I learned speeding on both games
I definitely understand why many people hate this game's final boss music, since it made the fight sound not serious. That's actually why I like it. It's goofy and fun. I think if you accept Wind Waker for what it is, a silly cartoon on an epic scope, it's easier to appreciate things like its silly boss music. I like the first puppet Ganon fight song best, but all of them are catchy and silly.
The introduction of Puppet Ganon was surprisingly dark though. The first time I saw it it turned into an "Oh snap" moment which got reinforced when the music started. Bonus Snap for when I realized during the transformation scene that something was not right and I thought the fight would get really serious now.
+hyperhedgehog7 Actually being "too dark" has never been an issue for the Zelda, It's alwas been kinda dark one way or another. Nintendo just went with the Wind Waker artstyle cuz it lead to more creativity and expressiveness apparently
"...If you appreciate Wind Waker for what it truly is: A silly cartoon on an epic scope..." Yes, because nothing says 'silly cartoon' quite like the Hero of Time abandoning Hyrule in its time of need causing the Gods Themselves to cast a lethal flood to kill Ganon, who has somehow revived himself, once and for all, in the hopes that at least a few Hyrulians are smart enough to climb to the highest soon-to-be-islands mountains, so that They can create an entire ocean, thus drowning probably millions of innocent people in the vain hope that they can destroy Ganon for good, only for him to somehow come back _again_, which means that the Gods threw away countless innocent lives for nothing Real light-hearted happy game Wind Waker is
Am I the only one who has noticed that a part of the "snake mode" theme (5:24) is the same as the caterpillar fight theme in Super Mario Sunshine? (Gelato beach, episode 3 I think!)
me kinda because the boss battles where you fight bosses like you fight regular enemies are the easiest bosses, whereas the bosses with patterns are hard. but puppet gannon was so hard, my 17 year old brother couldn't figure out what to do until i told him! puppet gannon is beyond hard, though. but, alas, unlike the hated fire/fighting tradition, the loved human-gannon-as-final-boss tradition is kept
snake mode have the best musical spot episode of all zeldas. That was my opinion. Here in zeldas are plenty more good music also. I am huge zelda fan.. next purchase may be windwaker for wii u, I already have it for gamecube.
@jassimalaskary I'm currently working on the same thing too. And I'm trying to collect all the figurings as well. The dark nuts are currentlly the only challenge for me.
Puppet Ganon part one: JESUS CHRIST DID GANONDORF JUST TRANSFORM INTO A PUPPET?!?!?! puppet Gabon: ok, let's battle. Transformation: oh yay he is dead wait OH GOD spider: spinspinspinspin snake: ok that is it this is the end! Part 2: yay he is dead. Now what?
I think phase 1 music is the best because of the snare and violins it is the just Soo badass and the typhonies and the bass drum and China cymbal and the gong oh that shit is the best
I do find it scary when Ganondorf said, "YOUR GODS DESTROYED YOU!!."
This whole thing is scary.
The scariest thing is that he was right in a way
OMG.!
Ganon’s classic nierzche battle phase
I see why Ganondorf channeled his power into a puppet. The last time he transformed into Ganon in this timeline, he got stabbed in the face.
Holy shit you're right....he was being smart instead of being arrogant like he was in OoT.
+Ness aroni He still ended up with a sword in his face, though.
Yeah, but at least he TRIED to take some precautions.
More specifically, right through his skull, stabbing into his brain, thus having nothing to command the body and just killing him.
@@VampLovr54 technically sealed in stone. His body should still be there at the bottom of the sea with the rest of Hyrule.
I love the way the theme music starts and you're all "WOO I BEAT HIM" and then it changes just a slight octave and you're all "oh shi-"
"Congratulations!"
"Yeah!"
"You beat the first form!"
"The what."
He's so easy though. The bats give you hearts too.

Daytime Sky Conclusion: Ganondorf is a little kid.
+Garry Dumblowski? A smart one at that. Last time he became Ganon he was stabbed in between the eyes.
Pixelated Yokai Wouldn't that give him brain damage though?
Garry Dumblowski? Nintendo logic.
Pixelated Yokai Yes indeed.

I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be obvious that the calamity is a puppet
Totk proves you guessed right
Calamity Ganon = Spider
Dark Beast Ganon = Boar
Demon Dragon = Snake
Ganondorf = Ganondorf
All 4 phases of Wind Waker's final boss are represented between BotW and TotK.
God that snake mode was a load of bull. You gotta be a faze member to hit that ball thing on ganon.
A faze member. That made me lawl.
If u throw a bomb at his face he freezes and u can hit the ball~
+AllEndsWithYou. yea i know the only problem is trying to hit his face with the bomb
I just stand with it and make him ram into me to set it off lol.
It was like a recreation of moldorm the most annoying boss to ever exist.
Snake mode strategy: Shoot randomly and hope it hits.
Or aim from far
Or bring out your inner speedrunner and aim exactly where the tail is guaranteed to go a few frames after he starts moving.
what was that? how the king said the gods locked Hyrule away? how Ridiculous. Don't you see...
YOUR GODS DESTROYED YOU!
I thought they did it to imprison ganon. And then they told the citizens to go to the top of the mountains
+Brad Bailey the point is this inadvertently destroyed their people for the most part.
*****
Nah. Just their old cultures... I don't recall any history of anyone dying (nintendo logic: everyone went to the mt tops)
Brad Bailey Well, no, no one died, but yes, their culture was destroyed. For instance, all of Hyrule Castle was lost to the waters. It would be like if we lost Washington D.C. The gods (for the most part) destroyed their greatness.

God, the corruption of the victory theme was the scariest part of this for me.
Same 😖

the snake forms theme goes realy well with the insanity and hecticness of that fight... and god just LANDING a hit was hard as hell
When the transformation it sounds like a evil version of boss fanfare
well, it is
I always loved how the Snake theme sounds like the Ganondorf battle from OoT
I love all the Ganon themes. I listen to them all the time so I know how to play 1 on the keyboard.
Anyone think spider mode sounded like twilight princesses temple of time spider boss?
now that u mention it, yea
darkbrony well, twilight princess and wind waker released about the same time. what to do now. at least the gamecube versions

this is technically I don't think this is the final boss music. the actual song against ganondorf is really cool in my opinion
if you think about it the game's story is very dark... maybe they didn't make it look serious because it would be too dark for zelda at the time?

Real light-hearted happy game Wind Waker is
The trumpets remind me of the Gen 3 Pokemon games, lol.
Loved this boss though it was a tricky one but I still loved it, 5 stars awesome video

I defeated him too fast to notice that! Thanks mate!
Oh my god it is!
I like the first part of the song. It keeps me going man!
This music plays when I see a spider.
No the suspense builds at 0:31
Thanks for editing these together!
Turned this on vs Ganon in Echoes of Wisdom. Worth every second.
dat phase 3 though
Such bullshit. Took me all day to beat it for the first time lol
@@bball98038 I know I'm late but try dropping an all-purpose bait on the floor
Dude, i was joking XD
we all know the Zelda Franchise was actually supposed to be rated T or M XD
3:49 Holy shit that's a bop!!
Agreed
Hell yeee
Love these songs!
i love the music for snake gannon!!
man i love wind waker....
Lol, I was counting down to the time when snake mode started and right away I knew what you were talking about. xD
oh snake mode.... i loved your battle soooo so much
Such an awesome fight. Except that final phase. That should've been an attack, not it's own spammable phase.
Actual start of the Puppet *Ganon theme: 0:41
Umm... actually 0:41 is when Puppet Ganon is revealed. 0:57 is when the battle starts.
Band Geek Oh, well, technicalities, technicalities...
***** ..._No_, that's a bit too late _after_ the start.
No it starts here at 0:31 with the suspense building up
they put an FPS boss fight in a Zelda game
T for Twillight. xD
You know, for being gloomy and dead and about the necro' INTENTIONALLY.
NO WAY! I though I was the only one! It always reminded me of Meteor Falls in places.
Me in Kindergarten: *says “shut up idiot” to a kid*
The class: 0:30 -0:41 “oooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOO”
First time I fought him I was nervous but wasnt to bad. Was a fun fight.
Puppet and spider ganon were easy as fuck, snake ganon was the ending of me
The snake form was harder than Ganondorf.. Haha
Love the twisted Boss beaten Fanfare. Nice touch.
Oh my god, i hated the snake form, it took a lucky shot to finish it off
The Snake mode theme is awesome
Moldorm Ganon's music is straight fukking epic
puppet gannon snake mode is literally made with Pokemon Ruby Saphire Emerald midi
This boss used to scare the HELL out of me when I was little
Anybody notice that Snake Puppet Ganon's theme has a piece of Oot's Ganondorf "tennis match" theme?Just listen for example 4:38-4:50.
Listen to it with headphones. You can hear all the different sounds more clearly.
omfg i beat this over the summer and i have to say snake gannon is the hardest boss ever!!!
Puppet Ganon. The first boss I ever paused the game for just to listen to his soundtrack.
5 ganons disliked this
Evert Gueblia XD
No more dislikes :/
Also, Ganon must be a great puppeteer to do something like this.
snake mode is kickass!
True!
First puppet gannon its like "Look i'm dancing".
Yes the Snake one was always my favourite!
Puppet Ganon love it.

For all that haype this, remember the orchestra after it and its alot more bearable
snake mode all the wayyyyy and ganon tuning into puppet ganon
Snake gannon's song sounds like surfing in pokemon riby, sapphire and emerald
obey your master! master! master of puppets...
Spider sounds like OOT Ganondorf battle a few parts, that and like Pokemon Ranger Shadows of Almia.
The snake was difficult. But took me a few tries and I beat em.the spider and the snake song are my favorites though.
Snake mode has the best music!
Ganon like im about to punch u
0:57 dat fake out
Can FUCKING WAIT TO SEE THIS IN HD!
snake mode have the best musical spot episode of all zeldas. That was my opinion. Here in zeldas are plenty more good music also. I am huge zelda fan.. next purchase may be windwaker for wii u, I already have it for gamecube.
The Spider Mode beginning reminds me of the start of Termina Field and Snake Mode beginning reminds me of Jaws or something similar.
That snake form though...
Yes I just said that, did you read it? Ganon becomes Gerudo form after his beast form.
Actually, you:
Step 1: Throw All-Purpose Bait
Step 2: Run like crazy
Step 3: Shoot at the tail while he feasts on his dinner
@jassimalaskary I'm currently working on the same thing too. And I'm trying to collect all the figurings as well. The dark nuts are currentlly the only challenge for me.
Scared the crap out of me when I was little!
Snake mode my favo 🤣🤣
this scared the shit out of me
Actually no it's scary here at 0:31 suspense building up
I know! But you have to admit it, you enjoyed it!
*_G A N N O N - B A N N E D_*
i don't play it but i will when christmas comes
Spiderpig~
I have the zelda windwaker soundtrack :P
Snake Mode = best battle theme in Wind Waker besides Phantom Ganon.
3 people thought it was a caterpillar
i like the spider mode song
That was only OOT, the rest, you fight his Ganon form first, then his Gerudo form after.
Why does the Spider theme sound like it uses the trumpets from Pokemon Ruby and Saphire?
Puppet Ganon part one: JESUS CHRIST DID GANONDORF JUST TRANSFORM INTO A PUPPET?!?!?! puppet Gabon: ok, let's battle. Transformation: oh yay he is dead wait OH GOD spider: spinspinspinspin snake: ok that is it this is the end! Part 2: yay he is dead. Now what?
it took me an hour or so to figure out i had to shoot the tail. i was getting really confused why cutting the strings wasn't doing anything.
snake mode+no lock on.....It just became a FPS all of a sudden!? WHAT!!
After taking so damn long to beat Ganon in snake mode, I eventually got so sick of the song and had to mute the TV until I finally won!
spider mode music is the best
This boss is actually for me harder than the last one.
I think phase 1 music is the best because of the snare and violins it is the just Soo badass and the typhonies and the bass drum and China cymbal and the gong oh that shit is the best
I'm playing this game again, and cant beat snake form! but then again, it could be that i only have 3 hearts.
Gannon-Banned.
