      As a Steelers fan since 1996, I 100% agree.
      I actually did not think
      Three Rivers was that bad
yes it was most definitely dated at the time of demolition, but on the grand scale of things, it was so bad.
      In terms of the current
Stadium & I am not using any comecical name no matter what the company is that is doing the sponsorship I dont see the need at this time to do anything to it at all.
But I think of anything it gets some relatively minor upgrades & dont expect anything earth-shattering to be done like a retractable ruff I think that would be stupidly expensive & I dont see really how it would actact other events
not like The Burgh is going to ever host a
Super Bowl it's just not going to happen ever, unfortunately.
I am Scottish. I absolutely love The Burgh & Steelers in particular.

Teams with perfectly reasonable stadiums see other teams getting these space age looking, futuristic looking stadiums, and suddenly their stadium looks kind of plain by comparison. I will tell you why all these owners are rushing for new stadiums they see the no vote in SD a few years ago and the KC no vote recently and think they better try while they still can. I really think people are waking up to this idiocy. Public funds do nothing but put it on the backs of taxpayers. These deals never work out well for the cities no matter what anyone says. Vikings are really the model if the owners want help. The city and state backed the bonds advanced some of the money but the team was responsible for paying them back. In fact the Vikings paid all the bonds off early and now they own the building outright and the city has no further obligation.

Been a Rams fan since 1976 and I call the Stadium in Pittsburgh my favorite in the NFL. Modern but very OLD SCHOOL. I love the open end zones and REAL grass. It's a simple design. Owners have lost their freaking minds with BILLION + stadiums that are sterile as hell. The NFL needs to cut it out with all the bells n whistles on stadiums and holding Cities for RANSOM. Fans packed stadiums when there was nothing but metal bench seats and electric light bulb sore boards. Put a GOOD product on the field and charge less than a car payment for a nose bleed and fans will be thrilled.

Rooney has said they need $200-$300 Million to renovate the amenities for the teams mostly and some seat changes etc. They said they will never want a dome. Yes it is cheap. But one of the bear bones factors is that is just for game day only. All offices and all player facilities are across the river, Oh and they players really want a major upgrade to the family area. Pitt had to move off campus because there was NO room to move to. And they desperately need the land their field was on. Far too much personal blood sweat and tears to rennovate it with something super duper unnecessary like a roof. And again Pitt is NOT going anywhere either. Sure it has its flaws as a college ball stadium, but theres A. No where else for them to play and B. Pitt was a key contributor to making this stadium happen. And C. And Foxborough Stadium, although not multipurpose, was insanely cheap and needed replacement

Heinz Field has another 10 years at least. A renovation will do nicely though, hopefully they put in chair back seats on the top deck behind the North end zone. When the Steelers do eventually move out the top decks could be torn down somehow and Pitt could just use the bottom bowl portion of the stadium as a base for their next stadium. I think that would be a pretty good size for them, however I think one closer to campus would be better.

I work at the Field and honestly the way the new Stadiums are being built it would be better to build a new Stadium I mean not to sound rude but our Stadium does look old like the design is outdated the concrete is tearing throughout and the subway system to the field is small and slow if Pittsburgh ever wants to be a host to major events get over Acrisure and build something newer and nicer with a dome that way we have a chance at hosting a Super bowll

  • @alanfox691
    @alanfox691 23 дня назад

Upgrade if anything, but I dont expect any maga renovations like a retractable ruff. I dont see that is going to attract any events of a mega scale, not like we are ever doing to be a Super Bowl host city now is it.
One thing I think will definitely happen is a Steelers home game in Dublin during the regular season
at Croke Park I think that is definitely on the cards & something ownership are very much activity looking at from
what Art Rooney II has sead on out media in
    The U.K.

I can't see the happening, fans in Pittsburgh love the open style of Heinz Field and the amount of money it costs to build a enclosed stadium wouldn't be worth it in Pittsburgh, we don't get a ton of snow like Buffalo or extreme cold like KC, Pittsburgh winters are almost always a bit chilly with a little bit of snow very rarely do we get alot of snow anymore

Would not be shocked if they did build a stadium and new practice facility in cranberry twp. Penguins just put in their headquarters there and it's extremely easy to get to with i79, i279, and the turnpike. Also most of the players live in that area.

I have pretty much stopped wasting time on your click bait, there are no plans to a new stadium in Pittsburgh, and year after year the Steelers and County have upgraded different amenities in the stadium on a piece meal basis because both entities KNOW taxpayers/voters soundly defeated "Plan A " to build the Steelers, Pirates new stadiums 25 years ago, and a new convention center. It cost ALL the County Commissioners/councilmen their jobs in subsequent elections. The county and teams had to be creative and go to the state to do a PLAN B to fund the 3 projects, which ironically left the Penquins out in the cold. There are and never were any plans or even statements by the Rooney's or County to build a new stadium ANYWHERE or do a major renovation to existing ones in the near future, even Art Rooney II is quoted in local news media that they are expecting no major changes to their stadium situation before 2036, when their current lease is up. The only true part of your podcast is about Pitt considering building a new football stadium on campus. While if you did any research you'd know that there is plenty of room on the North Shore of Pittsburgh to build another stadium, the site of old Three Rivers Stadium is a parking lot, and thus would easily accomodate a new facility. Ironically when they built the two new stadiums the County hoped to create a stadium district between them with restaurants, night clubs and sports related activities, but those attempts to get a developer have been failures. So the desire of either team to demand a new stadium / location for a stadium district is not going to happen, especially in a city that lacks large areas of level land for such a large complex. Pitt cries that they have poor attendance because they tore down Pitt Stadium 30 years ago to build their current sports /basketball arena, and a Google Earth view of the campus area will show you that there is no open space there to accomodate a new football stadium and it's accompanying dorms, training facilities, and amenities to impress mercenaries who now play sports in big time college programs. It also has to be realized that Pitt has always been third banana regarding football in Pittsburgh after the Steelers and Penn State. The fact that their teams have not been very good for decades and gives a luke warm fanbase more reason to avoid going to games since Pitt lost a lot of their best rivalries when the Big East football conference died. They used to draw well when they played Temple, W Va, Penn State, Miami and Syracuse and all were good, fans are not excited about Virginia, Va. Tech, NC teams, Ga Tech, or Florida State. In a world of Billion dollar stadiums and voters turning sour on funding them, I do not see Pitt or the Steelers getting hundreds of mllions in public funding for stadiums in today/s political climate. I saw you threw up a couple of articles that appeared to support your click bait, but neither was given any accreditation, and I can't find any credible sources out of Pittsburgh that have even suggested the Rooneys want a new stadium or major renovations to Acrisure.
