- Bob Ross is a figure well recognised in the art community, and in today’s video, I’m going to attempt a scene similar to his work in my own style.

I love all of the subtle colors you added to your mountains without changing the value. Brilliant.
I genuinely appreciate your mixture of confidence and humility. You seem human and approachable, as do your paintings. I really like that. Pretentious artists turn me off big time.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed this weeks video.
Was waiting for the big happy tree in the foreground.
Although it was inspired by Bob Ross, I don’t want to directly imitate his work; this painting was made in my own approach.
Good painting and a good example you are - especially in the use of the bigger brushes. I do a bit of plein air work in the western Cape SA, we have magnificent mountain ranges. I also am a big admirer of Streeton. BTW, the silver part of the brush is called the Ferrule....there's a name for everything! keep it up Mr Whisson...
I visited Capetown in 2018 and was thoroughly impressed by your spectacular scenery.
Thanks for the clarification, and thanks for watching.
You have a gentle nature like Bob, and it’s relaxing seeing you paint.
Thank you.
Colley, you are true gentleman. And you are kind to Bob Ross.
I wish he could have seen your painting. Your work is excellent.
Watching you paint is similar to watching Bob. You have a different style, but the ease with which you paint is the same.
Thanks Lisa, glad you enjoyed it.
It's always a joy to watch you paint Colley
Thanks James.
Great painting demo again, can I ask what is your thought process behind placing the sky colour in the later stages? Ive seen a lot of painters place this in first... Really enjoy your videos. Thanks
Thanks Geoff, it’s so I don’t muddy the colour/value.
It was helpful to see you add in the darker tones later in the foreground.... beauty little painting, really lovely! I know you've mentioned them before Colley, but what are those brushes that are somewhat thinner? I like brushes that aren't too thick. Cheers!
I wish I could find brushes like he uses, but I’ve never seen any that thin here in the US. Maybe they are only available in Australia.
If you’re referring to the black handle brushes I use, they’re a Rosemary & Co: Eclipse Extra Long Comber 1/4 & 3/4 inch, and they’re definitely available for delivery in the US. (Not 100% sure on the cost for shipment)
@@colleywhissonartist That's the ones! Thanks very much... I've got Rosemary brushes delivered to New Zealand before, so I'll give those a try. 😊
I really don’t think, that Bob Ross was an artist.
How do you define who is and who is not an artist.
I define an artist anyone with creative intent, whether you connect with their work or not is ultimately subjective; I try to see the best in my fellow artists work.
@@colleywhissonartist Colley, you are spot on.
