    Everyone is born with an inherent creative gift, it’s how what and when you are exposed to and how much time you spend on the chosen creative activity that makes you excel.

      Hey, Thank you for taking the time to comment! You raise a great point, people are born with creative gifts but for many it is about the amount the practice of the creative process. I think passion does play a huge part in the whole process as well! Thanks for the comment, gives me a lot to think about!

    Thank you George, I've started industrial design and have been struggling to get motivation and passion for it even though I knew that industrial design is the perfect degree for me! This semester I've change a lot but I still don't know exactly how to do it all and it definitely is scary to start, so I look for inspirational videos just like this one, and I've found the perfect one! Thank you, I'm going to buy a book, call it 1% every day (been reading atomic habits too) and I'm gonna just draw hands, one a day or more if i feel like it, I want to find the passion back I had as a child, that's when I was happiest and I know I can feel that way again. I'm starting today!

    I just came across your channel and I found this video very satisfying , the way how Artist Colin Procter talked about his art , it was so clear and in very 'human' language , very open , I would loved to have him as a teacher , I fully agreed/understood about the "meaning" behind a painting . LOL when I heard him about taking pictures on a day out with his wife , recognizable .. my husband always says ... but we didn't came to take pictures 😅 but the eye of an artist always see things that seems to be hidden for others 🙃 Thanks for making this video !

    Thanks for this video. It was really thought provoking. I’m currently attempting to do mini abstract landscapes in collage . I’m not great at, I’m not an artist, but I can practice, and practice. I enjoy the subject matter, I want to do it. Passion is a driving force, even if you don’t consider yourself “talented”. Practice, and being excited about the world around you, as seen through the eyes of an artist, definitely helps! Beautifully shot, and lit. Thanks!

    In reality, talent likely exists, but its impact may be enhanced or diminished by factors like environment, practice, and mindset. Natural ability can give someone a head start, but sustained success often depends on effort, persistence, and the willingness to learn and improve.

    Talent is the innate natural ability that someone is fortunate enough to have. But then, as this man has said, the work begins and it takes many contributions from one’s environment that the artist has to recognize to envelop and develop. Photographs, thankfully were the first tools to use, but the artist’s job is to go way beyond the photograph into the poetic and personal world of creation that is inexplicable. It takes lots of solitude to get into this magical world. But the work should never be about the artist, only by him. The work has its own job to do and that should be separate from the artist’s ego. When I finish mine, there is a strange disconnect like a balloon floating away forever. If I am in a museum in a room of great works and there is no one around, a very solemn and holy aura seems to permeate the room. And it is an honor to be able to connect to the maker through the piece which becomes a window.
    This artist has lots of depth which is half of the necessary elements for a good work to be born.
    Thank you for your great insight into the mind and heart of an artist which sounds corny and trivial, but to me, your words hit home!

    This new talent talk is kinda wrong but has some truth to it. It’s the obsession to do a thing that surpasses talent in every way.

    • @notjustanygeorge

    You must have patience.
    Trust that, with time and effort, you WILL improve.
    Too many people want good results right away.
    They get discouraged and never achieve anything !
    Keep Going !!
    and Don't fall for that nonsense about 'Talent'.
    Telling yourself that you just don't have any talent is a cop-out..
    a way to avoid doing the work.
    Skills will develop without you realizing it.
    Successes will lead to more success.

    • @notjustanygeorge
      @notjustanygeorge  2 месяца назад +1

      Hey, Thank you for the comment! I agree, patience is a huge factor in any craft or skill. However, I also believe there is a lot to learn from failure, as without failure you can't grow and will likely make the same mistakes. "Talent" is such a vast topic and reading everyone's thoughts on it, has been a real honour!

    “The ceramics teacher announced on opening day that he was dividing the class into two groups. All those on the left side of the studio, he said, would be graded solely on the quantity of work they produced, all those on the right solely on its quality. His procedure was simple: on the final day of class he would bring in his bathroom scales and weigh the work of the "quantity" group: fifty pound of pots rated an "A," forty pounds a "B," and so on. Those being graded on "quality," however, needed to produce only one pot-albeit a perfect one-to get an "A."
    Well, came grading time and a curious fact emerged: the works of highest quality were all produced by the group being graded for quantity. It seems that while the "quantity" group was busily churning out piles of work-and learning from their mistakes-the "quality" group had sat theorizing about perfection, and in the end had little more to show for their efforts than grandiose theories and a pile of dead clay.”
    From the book Art and Fear by Bayles and Orland

    I suspect you're trying to take the intimidation away from getting started on a creative journey by saying talent doesn't exist and i understand that because its only one slice of the whole you need to go far... BUT.. When someone has talent AND diligence it results in greatness, memorable, it cuts through. In our limited lifetime though, if you have a decent eye, openness and energy you'll do really well because there's plenty of people that think their gift alone will get them through.
    Its like having a clear signal with nature but not bothering to transmit anything. Someone with a scratchy signal and is ready to go will get through plenty consistently enough.

      @notjustanygeorge  2 месяца назад +2

      @@JohnHoganArtist Hey, thank you for the comment! I’ve met plenty of people who are “naturally talented” and plenty of people who have put in the time and effort to build up their talents. I completely understand your point, yes talent is a thing, however to those who have practiced their craft it seems like more of a learnt skill. Thank you again for your comment, I hope you enjoyed the video!

    I think some people do have a natural aptitude for art. Perhaps this is better hand eye coordination, visual perception or just sympathy and an interest. Is this what people mean by talent? An interesting film. Best wishes. Bill.

    A ludicrous statement 'there's no such thing as talent' Of course there is. It's evident within every art gallery that exists.The notion that if you plod along relentlessly you'll eventually develop it, is bollocks. Some people have an inate gift where plodding is not needed, they simply have it and it's inexplicably but wonderful. Thank God, or whoever/ whatever you want ...for talent

    • @notjustanygeorge
      @notjustanygeorge  2 месяца назад +1

      Hey, Patrick thank you for your comment! I agree that some people do have inherent talent, but a lot of people don’t.. So for them having a passion for their craft and spending year practicing to get to a certain level, will look to others like innate talent when in reality they put in the work. Thank you again for your comment, I’m loving the discussions and thoughts that people are having in the comments!
