Thank for this video, needed this information now. Didn’t know the injectors could have some up and down play. I was just scratching my head wondering what was going on and started searching, this was the only good information I could actually find. And I even called fuel clinic to ask them lol
I've had a fuel leak on the dyno myself in my Soarer 1JZ that made 386rwkw using a roller dyno. Replacement Sard 800cc side feed injectors. What happened was the top rail injector holders, held in with 2x 10mm head bolts, came loose to vibration and backed off slightly on the rear - which was enough to BEND the retaining rail and allow the injector to creep 5mm and break the O-ring seal under fuel pressure. I smelt the issue before it became lean on the dyno and fixed it on the spot. Now I blue Loctite injector rail bolts as a matter of safety and tighten to 15-20nm or the handbook spec - whichever is greater. Fuel fires are no damn joke - once it's alight, you have 1-3 seconds before it's all over.
I'll be placing my order for that Radium rail after Xmas Uncle Jay and that will be the final piece of what I need off you guys. Thank you for all the engine parts you have supplied for my 💩 box thus far and I'll be ready to represent in 2023. 😎👍
@@TML34 From them it is my final piece. I have some other parts but I can get them locally but the radium, even with shipping, locally can't beat Uncle Jay's prices. 👍
Thanks Jay, Learn something new anytime i hear you talk and you always make me question my rebuild. You're truly the JZ goat wish i had someone like you around !
02:54 Hmm, some articles say to NEVER use silicone-based lubricants, as the heat and pressure will make the silicone clog up the injectors. Also, they say silicone fumes or greases destroy oxygen sensors, hence the oxygen sensor safe RTV silicone sealant products that you see for sale They recommended only engine oil or your car's type of fuel.
Do you guys have or can make a video about fuel inejctor positioning/angles in relation to the duct, and effects of placing an injector further away from the intake valve speaking of thermal rise or lowering in combustion chamber/atomization etc
Trying to make a confident fit on Honda intakes with Bosch bodies is sketchy...I hand-sanded some nylon washers to slide up the injector and sit on top of the "cushions" and keep the injectors from squeazing into the bores. I feel like it will still leak boost. Need to test.
I've had a failed injector o-ring on a past project car causing a Car-B-Q where nothing in front of the back seat was salvageable! Previous owner installed the injectors!
This is good to know info I’m building an efi 460 and there’s not many B of the shelf parts for the application so I have to modify them or make custom parts know anything about drilling intakes to accept fuel injectors?
I’m finding it difficult to fine injector fuel rail that work with a2000 Dodge Ram 5.9 gas engine. The original part (53030598AC) is no longer available. I’m wondering what is available from after market custom designs, which I have not had any luck finding a source to obtain fuel rail with cross over tubes to fit the Dodge 5.9. Any suggestions.
Great vid mate and it’s definitely not an area to cut corners! Fuel fire isn’t funny! in my l36 pile of junk I had originally modified the steel fuel rails for -8 fittings and thought that would do, but I was wrong! Although being fastened under the plenum so there’s little risk of the rails lifting they still flex under high pressure and over time and with a missing bolt they actually bent enough to unseat an injector, a simple fix I just fitted an older models billet rails
Engine kept flooding when I put a cheap aftermarket pressure regulator, broken before I installed it. Took me way too long to realize it. I unplugged the fuel relay and cranked the engine to push the fuel out the spark plug holes onto a rag. Worked great the first 3 times. 4th time, for some reason I'm still unsure of, the moment i turned the key, Im not even sure i cranked it, there was a spark, maybe static electricity and all that fuel went boom. 4 foot flame. I ran so f*ing fast to grab the fire extinguisher. Survived with just burnt plug wires and vacuum hoses, and a little char on the battery. Take a lesson from me.. use a vacuum pump to suck out fuel flooded cylinders..
Seems pretty basic but I know a couple of guys who got burnt pretty badly in an engine fire when we were kids because of these exact issues. Car was stumbling and they pulled over and opened the hood not knowing they were opening the lid on a fuel fire
You know why the Subaru actually blows up. Fuel contamination, causing the injector to stick open, hydro lock the cylinder then after you try to start it the spark will ignite the fuel pouring into the exhaust. Then they burn to the ground.
Can we all admit Jay is basically a car God? Even on his simplest videos I learn something about a topic I thought I knew plenty on.
Yea he is great
Agreed
We greatly appreciate the love!
I’m in a hotel parking lot watching this. 10mm holding down the fuel rail on my d15b just came loose and was spraying fuel. Fixing it now lol
Real street university. Love it guys keep the quality tutorials coming we love them 🤘
Thanks! Will do!

I'm literally doing this now, upgrading fuel atm! Good info
Good luck!

“the final piece..”. 😂😂 I’ve said that before.

More simple videos like these please. Excellent and clear explanation.
More to come!

I appreciate that
Yeah I just made a note to check my rail bolts. Thanks Jay
He sliced the cheap blue one up to make a cool cutaway 👍
Great vid !
All Jays vids are great !!
thank you for the info Jay 😁 keeping my supra safe
Excellent Tutorial on the Details.
Great tutorial
Right on time. Putting some on my jz right now
Great vid Jay I thought I was only guy that worried about this
Simple but so important.

Great video Jay. Very sensible information. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it
Is a washer or o ring necessary when putting a threaded adapter to an6 on the side of the fuel rail?
Merry Xmas Jay
nice vidéo ,,,,,,thing king about steve morris bad lock wase juste haven more of fire but also siros engine damage
Such a great video !

4:10 realizing you cross-sectioned beautiful o-ring shaver ebay called a fuel rail

Agreed 👍
I watched a friend's car burn because of a fuel leak after changing injectors. Happened in a CVS parking lot car was destroyed from window up
I've had fuel fires on my mini bike motors like that. I run a fuel tech on a single cylinder engine and I've had intakes catch on fire before.
So can you put aftermarket rails on a stock car or no?

That's awesome. How did it turn out?
@@sategllib2191 decided it was to complex for what I wanted
Does this also apply to direct injection
Guys those green adapters in this video where can I buy those
Honda makes some good silicone spray.

Sometimes, the most elementary procedures are often the most overlooked.

Yeeeee
My fuel rail is held down by zip ties 🙃

BS Subaru engine blows up becuase of oil system tell you don’t know about Subaru without telling me
Radium
No there's a lot of guys getting the cheap rails off the interwebs
Can we get a video on oil cooler/remote relocation for easy oil filter access
Need to know the best angle to point the injectors #1 with the radium rail. Seem it needs to be point directly to access the connector better
