    Some of those rocks look like Wonder Stone.

    • @paulhardie
      @paulhardie  6 месяцев назад +2

      They absolutely do but I'm hesitant to call it Wonderstone as that name generally refers to rocks found in Nevada and Utah so I just used the common name Flow Banded Rhyolite 👍

      @dreamlookautodetailingauto3353 6 месяцев назад +1

      @paulhardie I'm from Utah. That's why I said it. Haha... but there might be other forms of it in Australia. The wonder stone here doesn't polish up very well.

      I'm fairly sure it's the same stuff, I did a batch of it last year with some pretty good results, see attached.

    Well that was a really fun adventure with lots of colourful rocks! Now it's time for you to have some fun cutting and polishing some of these beauties 😁

    • @paulhardie
      @paulhardie  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you Kylie, these will join the already long backlog of rocks ready to be cut and polished, the main reason for the trip was to get some more of the Dendritic Opalite with the dark translucent areas, I've had a few people ask for it 👍

    Another great video Paul, again jealous of the opalite spots you have over there compared to what I have. I do have a banded rhyolite spot not far from me, will send you some pictures as it looks totally different to what you are finding

    Cool rocks again 🥰. Does the banded rock polish up well? Amazing colours and patterns. Still loving the Dentritic opal.❤ I could wander out there looking for rocks for weeks 😂.

    • @paulhardie
      @paulhardie  6 месяцев назад +1

      Me too, the only reason I came home was I ran out of room . . . that and I missed my bed 😄
      The banded stuff polishes up reasonably well, I did a batch last year, see attached.

      @@paulhardie yeah nice! I checked out the tumbling vid 😁. Have you tried cerium oxide? If mine don’t polish I try cerium and see if they polish better 🤷‍♀️. It usually works and you don’t have to use as much either. Probably need half of what you use for aluminium oxide.

    Bit hard to see but it looks like banded Chert, either way some lovely colours and patterns. From the slide show it looks sandstone, does it take a polish or is it grainy?

    • @paulhardie
      @paulhardie  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks Jeff, good suggestion but I'm fairly sure it's not Chert, I've collected a fair amount of Chert and it's a lot denser than this stuff, Chert takes a really nice polish, this can be a bit hit and miss 😀
