  • It's often difficult to determine whether you should buy a current model or wait for the new model - especially when the existing vehicle is already very good but the new version promises to be even better.
    Automotive Engineer and Toyota veteran David Koichi Chao provides pros and cons for either buying the current, 2021 Lexus NX or wait for the new generation 2022 Lexus NX. David provides 3 reasons to buy the 2021 and also 3 reasons to buy the 2022 in this unusual comparison video.
    Similar thinking can be applied when you are considering buying any existing model, such as the 2021 Toyota Tundra, compared to buying the new version/new model, such as the 2022 Toyota Tundra.

    Three comments.
    1. I have the new Venza Limited. Made in Japan and perfect. I also had the Acura TSX wagon. Made in Japan. Perfect.
    2. I love the new no knob infotainment system system. A lot of reviewers slam it because they don’t bother reading the manual. It’s fantastic.
    3. Get the Birdseye camera. The front makes it very difficult to judge an obstacle in front when parking. I use it 100% of the time.

    David, The Lexus RX has been very successfully made in Canada for many years. Canadians should wait for the 2022 NX so we can get one made in Ontario ;-) I am very curious to see how the new NX performs with the 240 hp Highlander/Sienna Hybrid drivetrain. We can expect MUCH improved mpg and performance over the current Hybrid. It had been my hope that the RAV4 would get that upgraded drivetrain as well to increase tow rating and power. The plug-in Hybrid can speak for itself but I wish the new NX would come with the 300 hp V6 not a turbo. Finally, I anticipate a barrage of complaints about the base 203 hp, 2.5 engine. It was not well received in the Lexus ES 250 and its performance will fall so far short of the base Hybrid's 240 hp that it will probably be panned by critics and commenters alike.

    Thanks so much David for sharing your wealth of Engineering knowledge in these amazing videos :) As a long time loyal Toyota/Lexus enthusiast (40 yrs), I've always been fascinated by the engineering that goes into crafting each Lexus vehicle. So much so that I sold my soul back in 2005 for one of the last manual Gen 1 IS300's that hit Canada. She remains one of my fav Lexus vehicles to this day with only 11K kms on the clock. However, I'd be down for trading her for an LC500...lol Looking forward to more awesome videos :)

    I wouldn't suspect the new one to have a worse feel in terms of directness, since Lexus themselves claimed they tuned the steering and suspension feel to be more direct and sporty (with the help of racing drivers lol). I think the new one will have a bigger spread between comfort and sport as you toggle through the modes. Also mentionable is that 95% of the parts are new.

    Interesting is that the new NX 350 will get 2mpg less than the outgoing NX 300. The NX will have the 8 speeds transmission verses the old 6speed, but the 2.4 turbo is thirstier than the old 2.0 liter. These are from the Lexus web site. Love my 2019 F Sport. Yes, the ride could be better. My lease ends right when the new one hits the showrooms. May just have to buy it out. Great video and an excellent perspective from an insider.

    The first batch of 2022 NX's for the North American Market are being built in Japan. Afterwards, production will shift to Canada for all models except for the 450H+ which will remain Japan built. Can't wait. I have a deposit on a 450H+

    • @coho-kn1pc
      @coho-kn1pc 3 года назад +1

      Угон Харлеев not all decisions are based on fuel savings alone. The 450H+ is also the quickest model. Not worried about the battery system. It’s the same as the prime on the rav 4 and any initial issues they have had would be addressed by the time they roll off the line. Also, Toyota is the leader in Hybrid technology.

      @Угон Харлеев lol Firstly, do you think rav4 and nx is the same car? Secondly, I believe lexus will be able to achieve some level of consistency on the f-sport models which is available on both 350 and 450h+. Last but not least, I need 450h+ so that I can drive on car pool lanes alone. Anyways, hope you enjoy your NX 350, which defnitely handles better than 450h+.

I think there is something like a data leak or some insider selling information going on, which makes the rx350 got stolen so frequently. I did saw a video showing the theft comes with a original LEXUS physical key in the midnight and drives away.
