    I can only assume that those making all the "Boring Performance" comments are not really Electronic Music fans but EDM fans.... Boom Tss Boom Tss Boom Tss Boom Tss Boom Tss Boom Tss.... A wonderful sonic journey by an Electronic Music Pioneer performed on an incredible synth made by one of the greatest synth legends in history... Don Buchla. If you really wanna hear a boring performance take all those patch cables out and stand each of those "Boring" commenters in front of the Buchla.... I guarantee that would be a pretty damn boring performance.

    • @PubstarHero

      The gatekeeping here is hilarious. Its a good soundscape, its not bad, but just the hate here and elitism gave me a giggle. Also:
      "If you really wanna hear a boring performance take all those patch cables out and stand each of those "Boring" commenters in front of the Buchla"
      Take a bunch of people who dont make music and put them in front of an instrument? I don't even get the point of this.
      And for all your ragging on this stuff, you should take a look at Deadmau5's studio when he is recording. He has a Buchla 200e that he uses along side his other stuff. Hell my buddy runs one to make is Psytrance (I think he has a 400 series though).
      People like what they like. Slamming on people for not liking what is a rather abstract piece is like me saying you're unsophisticated for not enjoying groups like Merzbow, Venetian Snares, or any Techno music. Real Techno. Like Fumiya Tanaka, Umek or Boris S.

      You join the ranks of those you attack... "I guarantee that would be a pretty damn boring performance." here you are TELLING others what is "boring"! For your information I would be FASCINATED to witness the scenario you describe! Imagine the out of sync, weird and wonderful speaker destroying results and the shear terror of the participants faced with an audience who are also terrified/excited followed by moments of joy as they find things that make noises and perhaps even make a great show...... you have thought of a truly *great idea* and haven't even noticed that it has a value in real terms.... THIS IS WHAT GENIUS IS, those that NOTICE. All can do it just keep the brain open :) :) :) :) :)

      @@PubstarHero "Take a bunch of people who dont make music and put them in front of an instrument? I don't even get the point of this." I agree with almost all of what you say and think you write very well - but regarding this question/comment see my reply to OP! The "point" would be quite an interesting experiment, actually! Phil Minton did "feral choir" although he did train participants a little before performance.... Nothing is BAD!

      All your rant about your knowledge and how people that, for a matter of taste, dislike this performance are ignorant, and you don't even quote the fact that this is meant for a Quadrophonic system and not for a f*in youtube video, in stereo, with compressed audio. The first attribute of ignorance is thinking of knowing sh*t.
      Instead of insulting others maybe next time share your knowledge and explain what they are watching as***le.

    could someone explain how the quad setup works? seems those four boxes on the end of the table are the 4 outs but how do you get 4 splits from a monosynth?

    • @zpurpz
      @zpurpz 5 лет назад

      Make the signal stereo before it hits the boxes. Usually thru fx

    • @TheStuF
      @TheStuF 5 лет назад

      it can work in many ways but the simplest explanation of Quad is you have 4 mono outs and ins that you can send whatever you want to each one (so with a monosynth you simpley select which one to go in each corner or have a mix of all four, just two etc etc). Therefore you must have minimum 4 speakers in the room. I have a Quadrophonic DJ mixer. Many records were recorded in Quad but they mostly stopped in the 70's.

    • @TheStuF
      @TheStuF 5 лет назад

I haven't a clue about the rest of it, but it's the sort of thing I do on my home PC with my 2 iPads just to see what sort of noises I can make. When I get fed up with messing around I either switch everything off and do something useful, or I get on with recording some proper music.

    • @TheStuF

      @@alanwilton6806 This reply amuses/interests me. If you read it carefully it is a strange sort of "admission of bad work process". I will re write it to try and illustrate:
      "its the sort of thing I do on my home PC...messing around...when I get fed up... I either switch everything off and do something useful... or... get on with recording... proper music"
      so, if I was writing I would say "Its the sort of thing I try to do on my home set up and when I reach a point where I have created some interesting sounds I make a note of how I did it and record any of them I really like to use alongside my *other* music production ,ethods".
      heheee, the differences in some peoples outlook on life is one of the most interesting things about Humans :)
      "Proper music"? Nonsense, there is no such thing! There is music you like, music you do not. All of us CHANGE OUR MIND sometimes... I used to like some music, now I don't like some of it but one day I will like it again. Most days anyway I do not know what I will like until I see/hear/smell/eat/do it!!!! Enjoy :)
