this woman is a genius. her level of knowledge of her musical instrument is highly advanced. the performance was really beautiful.
I do agree
I'm so glad that people who think like her exist
I come back to this every few months to remind myself why I got into modular in the first place, truly amazing set
Yeah, Cat is highly inspiring to me as well. Her approach takes much more discipline than meets the...ear.
Seeing her performances and workshop at Moogfest this year was one of the most life-changing musical experiences of my life.
Goosebumps through the whole session. This is my favorite real-time synth set nowadays. She is a genius.
She certainly stands out to me. She's taking us on a journey like any great music should.
To all the haters this is one of many styles of music, there is demand for this kind of composition, a branch of electronic music without percussions. Colin Benders uses this plus percussions.
Pure music.
Pure sounds.
Pure feeling.
Pure love.
Pure..
she has mad talent. Her newest LP brought me here. Incredible
17:23 this causes consciousness to fracture
26:50 ID
30:22 scratches on the readable surface
39:30 ID
41:05 fantas
happy she played my 3 favourite tracks:D
the last one is called "Fantas"
Fantas is incredible! Larger than life.
26:50 is TCCTF, 39:30 is unreleased afaik
I was there listening to her performance, I cried hearing it.. that was something extraordinary. I strongly advise seeing her live if you have a chance. Wonderful artist and a very humble person.
How lucky man you are to have hear this fabulous performance in a live concert !
Same, her first album is really deep. Seen her live at Funkhaus in Berlin and I cried as well.
Just made me cry a little bit and I'm only watching it on RUclips. Her talent and creativity in coaxing emotion from bleepy machines is beyond belief.
Any other 🐑💨🧔🏻♂️ cry? I didn’t. It was nice though.
@@SamplingPercussionI’m legitimately curious what 🐑💨 is supposed to signify
This minimalist music, made me new connections of neurons in my brain
the 41 minute mark... The 41 minute mark.. OMG.. Eno meets Tangerine Dream meets Plastikman. GENIUS
Every single hair standing on end... wow
This is the purest art of electronic music.
She is so patient with the development of the groove /pattern and expanded it in a way that bands like early Tangerine Dream or similar electro pioneers have. So refreshing. And beautiful. Peace Christo
klaus schulze?
@@qishmish ... It has a lot more to do with minimalist composer Steve Reich than the German space/Kosmische/New Age/ambient (Schulze, Tangerine Dream, Ash Rah, Popol Vuh). Listen to works like Music for 18 Musicians and Tehillim by Reich, you'll hear similar rhythmic structures and emotional content.
@@emdotambient now when you say that, i agree. p.s. always loved marimba/xylo/gamelan version of Music for 18.
J ai adoré tangerine dream mais à 60 ans passés je trouve les compositions de Caterina 10 fois plus exaltantes
More innovative and less frightening i do appréciate her composition and the Buchla Easel What a fabulous machine
totally inspirational in every way - both the interview and the performance. the world needed caterina barbieri
This was more moving than I thought it would be. Emotional melodic lines, excellent timing for evolution, undulating between calm and intense....a mastery of her craft. I love it when she starts using the glides. She got this.
shes amazing
You're completely right!!!
A very good description of the movement of the performance.
@@ptadisbander7959 Thanks 😃
I've been waffling on the Verbos HO for awhile, and I think this video just tipped me over the edge. Amazing.
The most interesting and inspiring musician working today. I know it’s a bold claim, but I stand by it. Her music moves me in ways I didn’t think possible.
Really stunning music! Beautifully composed and performed! Thank you thank you thank you!
Stunning performance. Easily in the top 5 modular "live" performances I've seen, and probably the most interesting and fascinating due to its radical sound design while maintaining such melodic beauty. Simply breathtaking.
I just shut my eyes and the music took me on a journey. Phenomenal.
omg the sounds are so rich and pure
Oh wow, finally got a min to get into this, half way through I knew I would be listening again as soon as it was over. I could listen to the ending alone for 20min. Nicely done Caterina!
This is so crazy amazing. The first really feels like waking up to a new sunny day where everything is possible.
My favorite new modular synth artist. Deep music!
Such a fantastic set, from such a talented musician.....
As a Philip Glass fan, I love repetition, really enjoyed this.
... and very Klaus Schulze, especially the initial sequence.
Letˋs say: evolving repetitions...
Same here, though this is a lot more like Steve Reich's works than Glass's.
Philip Glass est devenu vraiment chiant et mégalo
J adore Caterina
Glass recommendations??
Simply excellent, this Beautifull woman crates minimal sounds that is so simple but yet so rich and contemplative. Being a follower of Steve Roach minimal sounds in some way I felt a relation between these sounds and his. I will follow this artist for sure 👌
Caterinas music is fantastic. Been a big fan for some years now.
It takes a master to control this box in such a manner. Thats really a great performance!
Just beautiful, soul changing music.
This the most emotional, pure, narrative, mature and moving performance I have ever seen. I'm left speechless.
I do agree
There is such a primal truth to your music. makes me cry every single time. thank you!

"I think we should stop talking and let you play..." Love it, I really like this interviewer, he seems so respectful to the musicians and his questions are quite poignant, so much so it's like he hears what I am wondering and asks the question, well done.
:edit after listening to this, well done Caterina, gorgeous original exploration. I also agree with a lot of your philosophies, i came to them myself in my own way obviously, glad there are others out there, and better that people will actually listen to at least one of us :)
Votre point de vue est lui aussi très inspirant et riche de réflexion
Astonishing. Moved to tears.
the music is absolutely beautiful.
I was really touched.
Amazing! Loved the discussion, and then this superb performance with the most incredible live sound. I especially like the way 'fantas' builds up to its crazy climax, and the epic moment when she "pulls the plug" at 51:22 :-D.
Brilliant. What a journey! Maybe even better than the album. She has some very interesting things to say too. Subtraction, got it. And Eastern vs Western. I can tell I'll be thinking about this stuff for a while. Grazie, Caterina
Love that music, just gorgeous.
That final was so unexpected and amazing
Awesome, lush soundscapes! Great!
And I forgot the most importiant... it is deeply emotional.
Interesting interview and very cool sounds in the live set!!!!
Sooooo cool peformance, like it a lot.
Very gifted. She extends herself as one with her instrument. Wonderful....
When the huge reverb comes in around the 40:00 mark. Soooooo good.
what about the one at 24:00
Interesting concept and beautifully realized!
Great sound design, so vivid and lively.
Bravo! What a performance
This was amazing!
Beautiful performance .
Fantastic performance !!!

She's brilliant.
Just Amaizing!
Amazing deep sound!!!
So nicely done
Well done! Really enjoyed that.
Bravissima!!! One word!!!!!! Yessss
C'est une magnifique prestation !
This is fantastic!!!!!!!
I wrote about her new album yesterday. I like her very much.
Five years later, is still brilliant. Well thought through. 🤍
The progression was brilliant the whole this was but hearing every thing come in at a nice pace
Fantas (@41:01 min) was amazing 5 years ago and is amazing today. Had a pleasure seeing her at Mutek in 2022 and it was mind-blowing.
beautiful modular
Indeed mesmerizing. Glad to see talented young people who explore new dimensions and possibilites for the electronic music.
Cool vid guys ! keep on doing this
Okay, I get it's not for everyone but that's okay. I thoroughly appreciated the thought process behind her work and the work itself is excellent
Wondrous. Magnificent.
Amazing Caterina
What? People finding that boring? Don't get any emotion? What? I get crazy goosebumps each time. Give it a try at 41:30... totally crazy. Somehow I have this feeling, that I and the other "fans" can be lucky to understand and feel this intensity of the music here.
Couldn't agree more! To me, her music is deeply emotional.
I can't believe it!You are a lucky woman,nice work.
awesome!
Damn that was a great performance!
Now these are some sound waves I can groove too. Synths for the win!
Beautiful music and smock
inspirational!
Uf!, ese final, casi se me explota la cabeza!!
Amazing “emergent music” !!!
Vraiment impresionnant!

Another amazing performance by a woman in this setting. She is really electro roots driven too! Amazing and beautiful performance. Peace Christo 👽👽🎶🎶🐕🐕
Lady modular in her quest for giving musicality to modular synths, she's the new Suzanne Ciani
