I use a fine piece of wire from my elec. Fence from my garden to hang my feeder. At the top of the wire I use the bottom part of an old t shirt to wrap around the wire about 2 inches at the top of my wire and tie it off tight and spray it with ant and roach killer and about half way down the wire repeat the wrap. Spray the top wrap but not the lower one. The lower wrap is to stop any run off from the top one from getting into your feeder. NO ANTS! I've been doing this for 30 years and it works great. Spray the top piece of cloth about twice a week. Don't saturate it.

What about mosquitos laying eggs in the water?

@@triciaskiles if you have mosquito problems, change the water in the moat each time you change the nectar

Interesting video. I will cut the top of of a 2 liter coke bottle and fill it water. May use a fishing cord through it this time. Thank you Mr. Mark.

I am making ant moats using a clear 8-oz plastic cup, a wine cork and 2 cup hooks. Screw hook #1 in to top center of the cork, and hook #2 through the center of the cup and into the bottom of the cork. The hooks become your hangers, and the cup holds plenty of water. The pressure of the screw into the bottom of the cork seals the hole - No leak! Takes about 39 seconds and costs Pennie’s.

I’m sorry. It sounds like the audio file is corrupted. Will record a new version as soon as I can.

Rub Tiger balm or Vix in reservoir.

I'm not sure what reservoir you are referring to but I avoid any "chemical" that may find their way into the feeder itself.
