I keep getting this problem but I just got an xbox one x and it does this during the setup to update it and it was almost finished but it went off and this error keeps happening. I can’t access any settings or anything because it is during the setup.
Please help the first time it happened it reset my Xbox it worked then it happen again I reset it it didn’t work then I shut off my Xbox then it worked and it’s happened again nothing is helping
How do you even let this happen like in development do they sit around and say how can we get people not to use Xbox live??? But I will certainly try this thank you...

Everyone, I found a fix.. I tried both the methods here, changed to static ip, restarted modem several times, tried port forwarding, disabling router firewall, DMZ, restored default settings on modem and router... plugged out the devices and sang nursery rhymes for 15-20 minutes to be assured I exhausted all troubleshooting steps... The fix was -> Buy a new router lol As soon as I connected to Wi-Fi I was prompted with an update, the excitement. Mission completed.
Thanks so much! After resetting my router for another issue it messed up my Xbox's connection to WiFi. I watched multiple videos yesterday that did not help! I ended trying to connect to my router on a the guest account and noticed the DHCP message. Looked up your video and voila!

So I tried everything on the Xbox troubleshoot and still getting the same error ‘wired’ but not connecting, it was working fine three weeks ago then I come back and have this. Tried your way and sadly it’s still not working
The issue was with my phone. I had to go in my phone's Hotspot settings and type in the Xbox IP under "Allowed Devices." You can find the IP after you select "That Didn't Work" a couple of times where it fails to connect.

I understand your frustration. Believe me. The reseting of the console worked for me. The one thing left you can try is setting up a static IP address. This is also a possible solution, there are tutorials on how to do it. Setting up a static ip on xbox one or xbox series X.
Thanks I just moved to a new house and I kept the same motem for xfinity the white tower that they have now. But when I tried connecting my Xbox series x to the router(wired) it said services unavailable so after trying his first method it’s perfect now! Thanks and if you have xfinity. Plug your Ethernet cable to the bottom right one with the red line and it’s 2.5gs instead of 1 like the other three. Correct me if I’m wrong. 🤷🏽♂️💯🤙🏽

Horrible advice. I tried method 2 and Xbox can't reset without connecting. Now network options aren't available so I can't mess with any settings or even retry option 1because the network settings tab and Xbox menu is not available. I am totally locked out now with no network options. This sucks!

Hey guys can anyone help me ? I'm getting the error message....trouble is, I have to do a factory reset roughly 3 times a week because of green/black screen of death. This afternoon, I started another reset & got the dhcp server message for the first time ever. I've done all the unplugging etc. etc. and when I start to do the factory reset, I get as far as the language/country, then it takes me to the "which network do you want to check ?". So, I can't even get to my home screen to do the settings from there. Also, when I hold down th Xbox button on my console, everything is greyed out except the "close" option.
For future people, you can at least use the 5th step of the troubleshooting options that they give you to "setup a network" and then clear the Mac address from there.
I factory reset my console, but it still won’t let me use it; and on step 5 of the trouble tree (there are 6 troubleshooting steps), it allows you to ‘set up a network’, and I’ve cleared my MAC address several times but it does nothing and comes up as the same address once the console restarts. There’s also IP settings, DNS settings, Alternate port selection, & Alternate MAC address in the ‘advanced settings’ section, but I don’t know how any of that works. Please help!!
The problem could the IP your device is being assigned is already in use. You can try and set up a static IP on your console. There are youtube tutorials on how to setup a static IP address on your xbox and then try to connect to wifi.

It's a bit late, my friend, but try using your phone's data as wifi and get out of that screen.

The issue was with my phone.

both methods not working good it will work only for one console boot after next boot DHCP error back again.
Change your Wi-Fi password the change it back and your Xbox will connect
