    We have a lake (Carlyle Lake)in So,Illinois that was built after the Corps of Engineers purchased all the homesteads and farms up back in the 60's then dammed up the Kaskaskia river and there all still quite a few old concrete foundations under the surface of this notoriously shallow and extremely large body of water ((biggest in the state).We use to get a lot of lower unit jobs and keep our prop shop guy busy when we still had the boat shop Andy.I liked to refer to them as job security,lol.

    Had a buddy hit a point on Lake Erie by the Bass Islands with his Merc and Lund and it cleaned the lower unit off !! It looked like the last shot in the video. He said he actually heard a splash when his boat coasted to a stop.

    After hitting something like that, and replacing the lower unit, is there concern about the power head or internals on the upper part of the motor having damage?

    You should suggest an outboard jet for when he wants to go exploring lol might save him some money in the long run!

      The upper Mississippi River is too weedy for a Jet. A lot of guys have tried them and they have only had headaches

    Why don't you use a Milwaukee right angle impact driver to unfasten those bolts faster?

      Kudos to Ranger and Suzuki! Just another reason why we like the Suzuki outboards. Built tougher

    So crazy question….where does that junk go….or lower your units, motors, cowlings, etc? Does any of it go back to the mfg for the spect ion after warranty to determine its user or design issues?
    Do you keep any of it for possible bone yard rarity needs much like a salvage yard; or do you just dumpster the stuff? Keep any of the impossible too get/obsolete stuff? Are their recyclers that want it and hunt you down?

    • @teammarinetv7326
      @teammarinetv7326  2 года назад +2

      Great question Matt! It goes a variety of places. Basically 1. We throw them into our Big Blue Bin and it gets hauled off to the scrap yard. 2. We take the old motors on trade if someone repowers and we either part it all out and sell the stuff off on our website or hang on to the parts and sell them used in our shop. 3. Insurance takes it. 4. It goes back to the manufacturer for warranty claims 5. We buy it from the customer outright, fix it up on our dome and sell it.

    Interesting! Did the hub spin? That’s a clean shaft break! Also What size scorpion in that!? I have a Falcon F205, 250SS of course and Im running a 27” with vents full open and when it’s just me it jumps on plane and I can squeeze about 71-72mph when I add a coangler and his/her gear it’s a real dog getting on plane especially when the live wells are full!? Any suggestions? Speed, Money, No Brakes!!

      Great question, and similar to the answers I'm looking for with my new-to-me 2008 Ranger Z520 with a 2016 Suzuki 250SS. Came with a Suzuki Watergrip 4 x 14.5" x 27P well used prop. Added my 12' Talons and with 3 guys it barely gets on plane on the lake and won't going up river without my son moving to the bow. I saw Tom runs a 26P Scorpion with PP's so thinking I should try a 25P with the added weight? But also don't want to over-rev on my top end....?

    • @wyldbill100

      @@SkidooSteve12 , doesn't Suzuki have a rev-limiter on them?

    • @SkidooSteve12
      @SkidooSteve12 Год назад

      @@wyldbill100 I'm sure it has some type of max rev-limiter, but you don't want to rely on that to run a prop too small.
