Oh my yes thanks for watching… we show you the docks and marinas around where we work. If you want something specific let us know and we’ll give you a view 🤣
All the wires on deck brought back memories of last summer restoring my 1979 Catalina 30. I ripped out every wire that wasn't in bedded into the fiberglass and redid everything. I went from a fire hazard (and even found signs of an actual electrical fire in my original charger) to ABYC compliant throughout the boat. Also having her up to modern standards was diffidently a plus.
I figured it lost the fluid but didn't realize fishing line could do that. My wife and I were in Key West 50 years ago. Your video inspires me to come back. I'm anti Florida but not Key West.
I committed before I got to where you found it we see that alot not necessarily the unit destroyed but during service we find water in gear case and pressure test it and find good old fishing line
When my parents owned a forty two foot Hatteras My parents would always have me work on it because I am a certified decent mechanic and I would be the one to do all the maintenance But when it came down to major repairs we would always have to hire somebody and one time we had a hole in the oil Pan In 1 of The engines We had to hire someone to come and fix it and they had to bring in AA frame and my teacher. Let me take off of school and you also gave me credit because The guys that we hired wanted me to help them work on the engine and once we got done for the day I was up until 2o'clock 2 days straight. Putting everything back on the engines to get it ready for sea trial.
Thanks for sharing Shawn! That’s some of the best education you got compared to sitting in a classroom! If you can fix stuff you save a ton of money not having to hire as many professionals! A drip pan is a big job!
Why do you always go and do all this extra stuff in your videos? I went from watching a video on a lower unit to a weird tour of key west and strangers boats.
Matt went from the owners small boat to the owners big boat…. He’s on multiple boats a day and we were showing appreciation to the Dockmasters since they refer us business!
I really love seeing all my favorite places in Key West while you walk around.

That’s awesome that you now have modern standards! Bet it was a ton of work! Fire hazard is scary!
That braided line is nothing but trouble
Well you have to pay attention to what you’re doing that’s for sure.

Key West is a magical place if you love the water & the small town feel! Come visit!
It’s only money and money will fix everything 👍
Definitely helps.
Definitely helps.
1) Prior work done on that unit by someone. 2) Something fouled the unit.
Could be the case.
Love your videos
Thanks so much for watching .... hopefully you learn a bit along the way about boats!
So, it was 2)
Yup, thanks for watching.

Unfortunately this unit is no good 🥴 we hope to get a new one this week.
That’ll go over like a fart. LOL. Good luck on FishMonster!
Got cancelled! 🥴 too windy.
Wow , so much vegetation in the water down there. Must be a nightmare getting in your slips without clogging every strainer?
We have not had issues with the vegetation and clogged strainers…. YET
@@WillFixThat That’s pretty amazing…some of those slips look like my back yard lol
@@curthook9622 those slip may be your backyard 🤣
water leaking into the lower unit would be why it would fail ?
Fishing line caused the issue.
@@WillFixThat does Key West have a shop that rebuilds lower units we have a guy in st pet flordia
Fishing line wrapped the prop shaft which takes out the seal and introduces water in the gear oil
Exactly …. Who knows where they caught the fishing line!
What do you think is the most common reason for outboard lower units to fail or blow up? 😬

No oil
👍
Prolly lack of lubricant.
Thanks Roy .... that would be part of the problem but the major problem is that fishing braid!
Fishing line burnt the seal and water in the unit
Sure did …. wouldn’t have guessed! Thought for sure it was sand that caused the problem.
Blown tapered shaft?
Hi Scott .... looks like blown shaft seal on the gear case!
no gear lube leaky seal & ruin stuff
Yes ruin stuff is right 😂
