John Lennon was the composer and also gave Martin instructions on how the orchestral arrangement should sound, that is, Martin carried out what Lennon suggested.
John made fun of Paul's cheesy songs, but "Good Night" isn't a cheesy John song, if you want us to believe that. "Good Night" is a masterpiece similar to "The Long And Winding Road", although its predecessor.
@@reprobatemind7792 Well, the whole Revolution #9 was played that way in this concert and I am okay with that as long as those bits were not live in the Beatles studio during the original recording either. However, the female singers WERE present in the studio when Good Night was being recorded.

There's clearly some bits being played over tape (ie. not live). For instance, the jet plane sounds during Back In The USSR
