Excellent videos and channel! I love the fact that you do your own work and demonstrate that it is possible for a car owner to repair even high end, high performance vehicles. I one day aspire to also purchase a 430 and this helps me to understand the challenges of performing maintenance. I have done almost all of the work on my own vehicles my entire life and your videos help me to assess options for doing the same should I be fortunate enough to purchase a 430 in the future. Good Job! Like you said, it surprisingly didn't look like too bad of a job. Some cars have a center bearing that the CV shafts sits in and those are a pain because they usually have to be pressed in or out. For a Ferrari, the 430 definitely looks like a good car to work on. As for that exhaust section by the boot, did you find out if there is a similar oem heat shield like on the other side? I am concerned that even with the wrap, that you still may have too much heat that could breakdown the new boot and grease. Last, did you buy the service manual when you bought the car, cuz damn you are really getting things done in that sweat box of a garage!

Daniel Hurlbert cool. The heat wrap you put on will be ok until the part comes anyway. I don’t have a Ferrari but the updated exhaust on my rally car is a nightmare for melting stuff, can glow red when on max boost. I bet yours are not far off that. Thanks for uploading, excellent stuff

Hey Dan, could you not have just undone the driveshaft nut on the hub and pushed the shaft out without removing the entire hub?
Did you do both inner and outer?

11.5 is indeed pretty good for what you put them through. Looking at the wear on them you don't drift it too much 😛
Not sure, but I think you just need to undo the bolts that fasten the shaft to the diff then remove the axle nut on the hub and pull the shaft out. No need for the complete removal of the hub assembly.

Still have the other boot? I noticed while under my car that the outer boot appears to be leaking on driver's side. Weird... car has only 4,000 miles but it hasn't been driven in almost 10 years. Only other thing that could be leaking in that area would be the brake caliper but I see no sign of that and fluid level is fine. Hoping the outer boot is as easy as the inner!

What prevents you from just taking the axel nut off and slide the drive shaft out? Taking everything off the hub and taking it out a unit sounds like the hard way. Did you not have a replacement axel nut?

Is one of the parking brake caliper boots also cracked? Please see the video at 4:19.
Be aware of dirt getting in in the sliding bolt and that it will get stuck at a moment. Than your parking brake pads will rub against the disk and the parking brake pads and disk will wear quicker.
How long did those pads and rotors last you?
I never had to change them

Did you buy new or used? Damm my CV boot/joint was 48 bucks from Ford but its a Ferrari.....I think my BMW CV was higher .....Im shocked that it looks almost as easy as changing one on the stang's....I would guessed it would be an all day event for a high performance car like yours

The thing I always tell people is remember, Ferraris are designed to be race cars so parts are meant to be swapped out easily and quickly.

Nothing like working on your own shit an saving money to spend it other things.If I may share a quick point. I've noticed in some of your videos how you handle the breaker bar and torque wrench, when you apply pressure you should always use your own body weight to loosen and tighten what ever it is your working on. So, If your loosening something the bar should be at the 9'oclock position so you lean your body down and when your tightening, the wrench should be at the 3 o'clock position. Just my 2 cents, what ever you do, keep the videos coming!!. Thanks

Actually it's a strong design, and removing an outside cover is much better than the spring clips on our cheaper units. You should never remove the balls, they've individually worn in, and the power you're pushing through will take advantage of any differential wear, I would clean it in a degreasing bath and dry it with compressed air before pumping grease through the bearing.

Ferrari's have CV boots? Come off it that's just plain common, my Fiat Panda has CV boots. Surely Ferrari have a fancier system than that, I'm sorry mate your car must be counterfeit, I would expect some sort of super silicon sealed for life joint. Ordinary grease, no no no NO. It's not even gold plated.
What are you talking about? His car is Italian not German. If it were a Mercedes or something it would have some sort of hydraulically actuated coupling with vacuum lines running to and from it that are all prone to failure. With Ferrari I am sure it is just a case of it being designer grease or something.
