    Changing the front brake pads on the F430, minus the sensor and removing the caliper, is exactly the same as changing the four wheel disc brake pads on the 1980 BMW 528i I had in the late 1980s.
    One day I changed the pads on all four of the BMW's wheels in 30-40 minutes. So easy.
    I'm looking to get a 1980 Ferrari 308 GT S or B sometime in the future, and my BMW experience will allow me to change the Ferrari front pads. The rear pads will take some time, because of doing something with the parking brake cable. I will figure it out when the time comes.
    Haynes does not make a manual for any Ferrari. A printed manual would be essential to have.
    For mating surfaces, such as the back of the wheel to the hub face, I have always smeared both surfaces with white lithium grease. Even in the salt-in-the-winter Northeast, by using the grease in that manner, when I had to remove a wheel, it popped right off.
    E brake sounds like some sort of communication. Let's call it what it is, a parking brake.
    Thumbs up for the video.

    Nice work, guys. I definitely learned a couple things! Looks like its about the same for a 360. One thing I did to save time on the rears is, instead of removing the handbrake caliper, pull the clip that hold the pin that hold the pads. You can then remove the pads which gives enough clearance to take off the rotor. When its time for reassembly you can just use regular needle nose pliers to turn the caliper piston...one less tool for us home-gamers to buy :)

      Instead of using the needle nose pliers for the brake piston, there’s a piston retractor tool kit you can buy on amazon that’s universal and made specifically for the job. There’s multiple companies that make them, and they’re usually ~$20.

    Hey Guys, nice job! Just one question about lubrication: isn't it better to use e.g. ATE Plastilube on a braking pads sliders (mean on the surface sliding in brake calipper)? Thanks for answer in advance!

    how much are the brake rotors ???

  • @jmm2550

    why can't the rotors be cut?

    • @Jordfjord
      @Jordfjord 4 года назад

      There’s a minimum thickness that is considered safe for road use, and these may have been beyond or close to that minimum thickness. If the rotors are turned/cut there is a high chance of warping, which is very apparent under heavy braking.
