- The sequel to Peter B Parker Rocks that you've all been waiting for, true believers! Today, I dive into exactly why Peter B still rocks in Across the Spider Verse just as much, if not more so, than he did in Into the Spider Verse!
I love this character, and I love that Marvel has finally allowed him to move forward in life to be with Mary Jane and have little baby Mayday. Here's to hoping this means we can get Spider Girl in an animated Spidey film somewhere down the line!

The best part of Peter's arc is that while he is happy, he still has relatable moments where he wonders if he's doing the right thing. His conversations with Miles were it's clear he's feels guilty about what's happening to Miles, and the little book he's reading at the end of the movie about parenting, shows that he is still willing to evolve and learn, he just knows now that he is on the right path and wants to become the best version of himself.
Side Note: That’s a real book he had, “How to talk so Kids will listen, & How to listen so Kids will talk” by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish. I saw it at Goodwill and remembered it from the movie.
I know right like let Peter be happy but don’t take away his relatable traits we don’t need a depressed Peter Parker who can’t catch a break because that’s not how life works it has ups and it’s down. Peter b Parker is my favorite version of peter Parker live action and animation due to the fact he’s allowed to be happy.
Meeting Miles was the best thing that ever happened to Peter B. Parker. Not only did Miles give him the courage to go back and fix his relationship with MJ, the bond he developed as he mentored the young Spider-Man gave him the paternal instints the man needed to not only want to have kids with his beloved wife, but also start to develop the skills needed to properly parent them. Simply: Miles is effectively Peter B.'s first kid. So, after he's had his fallout with Miles, it makes sense why we would be seeing him hit the parenting books, he wants to be the best dad he can for both his kids.
I like how Peter acts and talks like our classic Peter Parker again after being bummed down by the hardships of life. It really highlights how Miles really changed the trajectory of his life.
I am so glad that Paul isn’t a canon event!

Peter B Parker was the only Spider-Man to manage to catch Miles during the chase. He's still the one true anomaly of all Spider-Man because of the way he thinks.
Yeah, and he did that while wearing a bathrob and slippers and holding a baby!
I mean, the thing I love about Peter B. in Across is his last two scenes, including MJ's monologue. "There's no playbook for raising someone like her or being someone like you. You just have to give it your best shot."
*THAT'S* Peter, man! That's Spidey! And *of course* MJ gets it - in a world without Aunt May, she's his moral center, his guiding light, and I love that she gave that speech basically as a mirror to the eulogy the other MJ she gives the other Peter from "Into." It's the same exact point - I know you. You're going to try to do the right thing. ANd you're gonna get it wrong. And you're gonna try again," and that's enough for Peter to realize that the fear he's learned from Miguel is the wrong lesson. The Spider Society's driving motivation isn't the hope that you if you _can_ make things better, you should _try_ , it's the fear that if you _let_ things happens, things get _worse_.
And it's perfect, because this is the first mistake of Peter Parker - "with great power comes great responsibility" he interprets to mean that because he didn't try to stop the guy, Uncle Ben's murder is _his fault_ and it's not! The guy still pulled the trigger. That guy made that mistake, a lesson *this* Peter has actually learned.
Peter B. is halfway to realizing this in the Intervention scene, when he says "if it weren't for Uncle Ben, most of us wouldn't be here, and all the good we've done wouldn't have happened." And you can see him struggle with that idea - did I *have* to lose Uncle Ben to learn that if I can help, I should try? Did I really have to? Did I really have to lose Gwen and the Captain to learn how valuable my secret identity is? Did I have to battle the symbiote to really understand that even great power isn't worth everything?
I love when he breaks off from the group - there's this amazing thoughtful micro-expression as he says "hold up, no. This is nuts. I need to _talk_ to Miles, the way I would have wanted someone - my dad, Uncle Ben, anyone - to talk to me." We keep seeing him thinking about it again and again and again in a way none of the other spiders do.
It's so damn good. I love these movies.
I couldn't agree more. I absolutely love the spider-verse movies. And peter b parker is cool. I'm hype for the 3rd movie. Hopefully we see an alternate mayday who is spider-girl help out miles and peter and gwen.
That would actually be SO cool.
Or at the very least an after credits scene showing her all grown up and wearing her Uncle Ben's costume!

I love Peter B.....I can relate to him not being perfect however he gave it his best to be a mentor with Miles. To grow to become a Father.

There were so many things I loved about Across the Spiderverse, but chief among them was Peter B. Parker getting the biggest win of all: not only getting back together with Mary Jane, but actually becoming a FATHER!!!
I know the chances of it happening are slim to none, but I really hope that the Spiderverse movies have a POSITIVE impact on the Main 616 Comic, or more specifically, Peter Parker.
My personal head canon is that Mayday Parker is still out there in the 616 world, in hiding, unaware of Peter, Mary Jane, or of her powers.
They NEED to bring her back. Spidey comics need her now more than ever.

My idea for a comic run of main 616 Peter would be to push him further than he ever has before, but see him come out the other end happily back together with Mary Jane and having found and reunited with Mayday, as well as having an actual support network including Ben Reilly, Kaine, Terasa Parker, Agent Anti-Venom, etc.,
Weird random fact in One Moment in Time (the follow-up to One More Day) it was stated that Mary Jane wanted to have children but she couldn't do so unless she was married to someone, so by that, I think it pretty much said that Mary Jane never even got pregnant in earth-616 anymore because of the deal with Mephisto so while Mary Jane can get pregnant again in earth-616 with Peter's child and undoing the deal with the devil will make her exist in earth-616 again as the baby that was taken away from Peter and MJ I am pretty sure she doesn't exist anymore in Earth-616 sadly. And keep in mind even before One More Day it was never made clear whether or not the baby was a stillborn or captured by the Green Goblin so Mayday in earth-616 could have been stillborn or she could have existed before One More Day but there is a chance that even before One More Day she was dead and even if she wasn't she is definitely gone because of One More Day.

The Spiderverse films and Isomniac video games are REALLY putting in the work to pick up that ball that Marvel dropped. The earlier comics in Spidey's history still inspire creators to this day, but in order to get good Spider-Man content in the modern day, you pretty much have no other choice but to look at adaptations outside of the comics. Even in the comics, the better stories usually come from alternate reality stories, where the writers can go off in more interesting directions with the character, and actually have him grow, because they don't have to care about sticking to some outdated status quo.
After watching the movie, more than anything, Peter B Dad was something that stood out for me. It’s just refreshing and it feels nice to be proud of him and see he is happy.

Imagining pete having brothers to share their stories and struggles is a really great idea. In a way it helps pete and the others to vent out their troubles and even work together to solve them.

One thing I always wanted from spiderman is for him to get a happy ending something that Marvel comics doesn’t want to give him.

A lot of people were disappointed that Peter was just a dad and didn’t get much to do but that’s the end of his story. His arc was done in ITSV. And Gwen took his place in ATSV. If they added more it would feel tacked on, a bit shoehorned, and just extra fluff

Both the movies and games gave us some of the best spidermen that we've got in recent times with Peter B and Insomniac spiderman...
But it just seems that 616 will forever be in this horrid cycle of despair... it's not like we cannot have a Peter that's finally a fulfilled man that has progressed out of being a broke college student with girl problems... because they've shown that we can have that Peter yet they seem to just not allow 616 to have that...
Despite having 2 other spiderman that can now pick up Peter's slack for abit so he can finally relax and have a happy family...

Sometime that i liked about Peter B. Parker is that he isn't perfect he has a daughter and is with Mary Jane but he still has problems. He feel sad for not telling Miles the truth he is scared of not being a good dad and wanting that her daughter end up like Miles. I heard that Marvel Comics think that if Peter had kids and gets married he became a completely new character but the true is he isn't he is the same character, and Peter B. Is the cleare example of that he still shows some of his personality in the first film but he also shows a new focus that we don't see him before. That's what 616 Peter need to be, since it also implied that Peter B. Still has money problems being the reason why Peter make Mayday acompaing to his adventures because he can't pay her a babysitter the classic Peter is there just he started to have a new angle. We don't need Peter to retired from being Spider-Man to be happy or had kids. Across the spider-verse show that.
And how funny is it, Miguel treats Peter B as the loser he fell into back in Into the Spiderverse.

Peter B Parker and Insomniac’s PS4 Peter Parker are my favorite versions of the character these days. Both are grown up, matured versions of my favorite character in all of fiction. And both offer different aspects to an older Peter I wish Marvel Comics allowed 616 to have. Peter B. Is a father now! He’s gotten his life together and he’s happy but it’s still not perfect. Peter B. questions if he will even be a good father or not, but hey… most fathers I know ask that same question. PlayStation Peter is not only an active Spider-Man but a mentor to Miles Morales. I always question the decision to have Miles brought to the 616 comic universe, live in the same city as Peter, and barely interact with each other. Makes no sense considering Miles is sharing a whole super hero name with Peter! Both versions of the character have faced loss (Aunt May in both universes) but both have overcome and seeing them both smile even now is more earned than anything going on in Zeb Wells’ run on ASM. Idk if Marvel Comics should retire Peter… honestly, that character has too much staying power to put in the shelf for years… but I do agree that it’s time for Spider-Man to move past this single college student phase they keep forcing him to repeat over and over again.

How dare you, I thought Spider-Gwen was a pretty cool concept, and I thought the original SpiderVerse comics was a great love letter to Spider-Man, much like Into the SpiderVerse. Hell, I think Dan Slott’s run was better than Nick Spencer’s or Zeb Wells, because he was trying something new. Which worked, most of the time.

Have to strongly disagree with you on Spider Gwen. She did what I rarely see with other heroes: atoning for her accidental kill. Yeah Peter didn't dare do that and Daredevil did it after her. I haven't read her newer comic but her original arc alone was outstanding enough for her to not be considered "bland". The artstyle was also innovative at that time.
And imo Gwen in atsv is not as good as her comic counterpart (they basically erased most of her own relationships just so she can have a deeper connection with Miles). But I guess this's only a matter of taste 🤷🏻♀️. Just want to say saying she's bland is a big stretch.

Two things I have a problem with when it comes to Peter b Parker. One Peter would never endanger his child by bringing her on missions. Second Peter would not the first to side with miles in finding another way and stand up to Miguel.

Firstly, Zebb Wells is a fucked writer that needs to be stopped, secondly the previous run was the closest thing we got to get the things to the way it supposed to be even with the ruined ben reilly arc, but no zeb wells had to ruin it all and shovel it in our asses.
Thridly, the best thing to do is to make comic arc where he remembers his deal with Mephisto and undone it that will change the course of timelines that happened since one more day till present day, that all that happened in comics in recent years will just happen but with mj is married to Peter and peter having mayday, and ofcourse aunt may dies with additionally him getting his other world or queen's mutation back and every single story that gone wrong can be now redone right, so basically a soft reboot with everything gone right or bad, but with the main things attached like maybe the superior arc never happened 9r happened differently maybe dock ock is still superior spiderman and he too didn't do his deal with Mephisto, it will be an amazing idea for a bunch of new rewritten stories and exploration and not just an alternative timeline, but the main timeline

I don't know if Marvel has or will ever do this, but I really want to see Felicia Hardy being the fun loving aunt to Peter and MJ's kids. Like I can see her walking into the hospital room after MJ gives birth claiming to be her sister with gifts for May. Heck she could be like Mayday's own uncle Aaron. Someone that is technically on the gray side of the law but with a heart of gold. Maybe even be the one to teach Mayday how to make boys crazy. Someone make a comic about this.

funnily enough, og comic aaron davis is a horrible person, contrary to his cinematic appearance. he blackmails miles into stirring trouble with mobs and then tries to kill him, where he accidentally blows up. his last words are “youre just like me”, intentionally to insult and haunt miles forever.
In the context of the Spider-verse movies:
This right here is the magic of Miles Morales. He's basically Hope personified for the Spider-verse. The catalyst for change.
In ITSV he gives hope to a hopeless Peter B. that he can turn his life around and find joy again. It gives him MJ and creates Mayday.
Then in ATSV, he gives hope to an utterly hopeless Gwen that maybe, just maybe, reality *isn't* designed to engineer her own suffering and loss in order to keep the Spider-verse from unravelling.
Hope that it might be possible to fall in love with the one person in all the multiverse who understands her without it being a death sentence for one of them.
It gives her back her dad, her purpose, and her determination to help Miles do what anyone who wears that mask is supposed to do: Never stand by when others are in danger.
That's why Miles is an anomaly. Not because a radioactive spider bit the wrong person. But because it bit the *right* one.
The one that will break them out of the cycle of repeating "canon" over and over again.
The one who will teach them to write stories of their own.
The one with hope.

First movie I ever saw in theaters was Sam Raimi's Spider-Man and then the First comic series I ever read and followed was Ultimate Spider-Man. There have been sime misses (one more day/paul) but man, does It feels good to be a Spidey fan, especially with all the games and media out today.

I hear nothing but praise to the voice performance and direction of the character. I also hope that this movie has a influence on the comics, or maybe help push for a movie or short continuing the plotline.
There's a Miles short coming out soon, so why not have a short on the daily life for Peter B and his family. Heck, for the Spider-Gwen led movie, it'd be awesome to see perhaps Spider-Girl as among the supporting characters.
Unfortunately with Zeb Wells and Nick Lowe in charge, plus with Dan Slott coming back with Superior - it looks like AtSV isn't going to have any impact on the comics.

I was disappointed at how much of a joke he became and how they made him wear a stupid pink bathrobe, another thing i hated is how he puts her own daughter in danger by bringing her with him to a SUPER HERO MISSION! so freaking dumb.
As a Miles hater this movie sucked, I just can't accept anyone who dresses like knock off venom as Spider-Man. They turned Peter into a femboy, which really sucks for classic fans. Miles will never replace Peter, but I stopped caring about this series when they made him a joke.
