That waffle iron deserves its own episode. The sheer abundance of variations on waffle batters, as well as recipes that are not waffles, but use waffle irons as the intended cooking surface, make such a sublime-looking product the rather obvious target of a massive assortment of potential experiments. My first thought upon seeing them come out is how amazing that product would be at producing my "rice pudding waffles" (which are gluten-free), which would do with deeper pits to accept more of the cinnamon custard sauce I top them with.
Isn’t really a useful measure. Like all measuring devices, scales are typically given a tolerance in “n% plus m digits”. So if the good scale is reading in whole grams, it can be off by 1 or 2 grams without even having a chance at being out of spec.

With a family of 6 we use the hand rotary grater all the time. The usefulness comes of the fact that you only have to pop the grater barrel and plastic spout into the dishwasher and stick the other pieces in the cabinet when done. We run the dishwasher every other day, so it's quite convenient, more than the processor.

Love the waffle maker, but I'll stick with my vintage '80s tefal with interchangeable waffle, sandwich and ridged griddle plates- easy to clean, takes up a third the space of three separate machines and makes the best toasted sandwiches ever as it doesn't have the stupid crimp across the middle of each one, so you can get much more in.

I use it like you did, and occasionally for pasta - for which it is mildly successful. There's an episode - "What are the original and alternate uses for this gadget?"
Great reviews! I bought the rotary grater for a friend, they love it. It's perfect for someone that needs to grate a bunch of cheese from time to time, but doesn't have the need for, or room for, a full sized food processor.
The series is called "Made Personal with...". Each lad cooks a dish (or has the chef make a dish) personal to them, explains why/what memories they have attached to it and then answers some comments.
That waffle maker as well as that grater/slicer got me excited! I have a lot of kitchen gadgets and I always wondered how smart “smart gadgets” are so it was nice to see a smart waffle maker tested. Thanks!
We have one of those rotating graters at work but the electric version. It’s very useful for us. Though I agree about needing a plunger thing. We had a wooden spoon (that ended up with a slightly grated end) or would use a carrot (because we were almost exclusively grating carrot and beetroot for salads so it didn’t matter if it got carrot in it)
I bought the Rotary Cheese grater months ago, and you guys are missing the plunger! It comes with a clear "cup" to feed the last bit of cheese. Its a great product
In an earlier episode, James refused to make this joke on another gadget because it wasn't "family friendly". Thank you, Jamie. You are the hero we need.
I have the red cheese grater/veggie slicer. Mine has a little plastic piece to push the last bit of cheese/veg down so you don't have to get your fingers close to the 'blades'. I love it! It works really well and I use it more than I thought I would. I also have a LOT of cabinet space, and no food processor. If either of those facts changed, my opinion might as well.
I have a hand held grater almost exactly like that, but with no base. Fits in a drawer. Got it nearly 30 years ago and I’ve used it a lot. Even has a plunger to protect my fingers.

Love the Inception reference! That was golden, just as good as the glee on everyone’s faces over the waffles.
The problem with the egg spinner is that it doesn’t reverse direction. It’s the abrupt change of direction that actually does the work.
Abrupt starting and stopping is, in theory, at least half as good, but yeah... I'm impressed by a purpose-built gadget that does the job worse than a shirt sleeve.
@@ceceliakra7234 false. There are literally devices that do this exact same thing by spinning the egg in rapidly changing directions. There’s surface tension between the parts of the egg.
Sometimes I forget what day of the week it is then a sorted video comes out and I know it's either Wednesday or Sunday. It reminds me how fast and also slow time is going in quarantine
FYI, Sage in the UK is the same as Breville in the US. They usually have outstanding quality gear.
Aaah, thank you! Was thinking that I'd never heard of the brand
Anyone else says how many grams the scales were out...Ebbers “it’s 12% less!” Haha
Barry can't register that XD
Boom12 I don’t think he would know how...to be fair It made me stop and think...that’s not a weight😂
6 grams less
Missed opportunity for the editors to put formulas around Jamie as a meme when Ben said that.
Thank you guys for being so amazing. Witnessed a traumatic event and all I wanted to do after was watch you guys to help calm me down and relax. You guys are awesome and please, keep doing what you're doing, I love you guys so much.
You know Barry said "I'm good at these things" when about to put the parts of the grater together based on the fact that he is good at putting his kid's shapes in the holes you together. You just KNOW.
Those waffles were gorgeous. Those were the most evenly cooked appliance food items I seen so far.
I’m with Barry - I love the yolk, the whites of most eggs are just meh.
I'd be really surprised if there's anybody out there who actually enjoys egg whites... They have very little flavor and the texture of them when they're hard boiled is dreadful.
Not Wednesday thank gracious I’m not the only one who feels like a boiled egg white’s texture is so jarring! Haha it’s like you’re chewing along and then someone gives you a wet Willy.. it’s so slippery and horrible! 🤣
My family always overcooked the egg and made the yolk taste horrible.
I could watch Ebbers cook all day. It's balletic! Great fun video, chaps!
abuse that woffle iron, put it to the test, do everything in it, like a omlet, but thats kinda boring, expand on it
Mac and cheese!
Yesss
Please make another pass it on with kitchen gadgets since you have done more episodes since the last time! You guys are so cool and I love watching your videos!
"Is this the content you were after?" No Jamie ... but I expect nothing more 🤣🤣
Ben's hatred and contempt for the measuring scooper is giving me the giggles. I adore Ben.
(also Barry's 'we have snacking waffle' followed by that amazing seven-part laugh. this is such a good episode!)
We're glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
Anyone else still miss "I'm gooey in the middle baby, let me bake"?
Not even gonna lie, that intro song was pure fire
🙋♀️
Yeah, I put it on my workout playlist. Lol
Song of Niemah what song is it? Where did you find it?
Chronically Witty It’s Pancake by Jaded ft Ashnikko. I found it on Spotify.
I just got a rotary grater since I do not have a food processor. I absolutely love it! Mine did come with a plunger so that I'm not putting my fingers down inside it, and all pieces except the base go into the dishwasher. I really love it!
I'd like to nominate this as the best food related video where someone says, "It doesn't go up your bum." on RUclips. Oh who am I kidding? This is the ONLY food video where someone says that!! Congratulations to Jamie.
I was screaming laughing 😂
got someone recommend me this in other video comment section and by the intro itself I'm already hooked.
Ben saying „useless“ with a mouth full of food is a MOOD
A little off topic, but whoever takes care of sound in your videos does a great job imo. Everything is usually so balanced and has a good level; cooking sounds are great and speech is always clear (with the exception of Barry's mumbles). Kudos!
R&D at Breville/Sage: What have we not added a screen to... WAFFLE MAKER.
Jamie yelling ‘Plate it up!’ With pure desperation was a wonderfully pure moment of joy mixed with hunger.
10:14 Till my dying day I will believe those are Barry's hands and you will never convince me otherwise.
😂 🤣
Jamie: “Eggers”
Me: immediately liked the video with no regrets.
Jamie: is this the content you were after?
Me: nods reluctantly
One of my favourite channels, the best clips are reviews of any kind.
Now I wanna see an episode where you guys just make recipes using just the waffle maker. like cakes, and brownies, and sandwiches and things like that.
So, basic the perfect video for Barry to be in. Everything except what it’s supposed to do, just like the ultimate battles.
I actually have the hand turn grater. I asked my Mother-in-law for one for Christmas one year. I use it all the time. Its so much easier to pull out than the food processor. I also dont have all the parts for my food processor and cant grate anything with it. I love it! I use it for grating cheeses and carrots, to slicing cucumbers for home made pickles.
That cheese grater would get used so often in my house (we are a family of cheese monsters as my mum would say) so I’ll definitely have to look into that!
Aidyn H You can get fantastic metal ones. My dad has had one for over 30 years still works grate (pun totally unashamedly intended 😆) although granted not a lot is made to last these days. But best of luck in your purchase
There are handheld metal ones, I found one on Amazon the best keywords are "moulinex petit ménager" my first result is that little grater made of stainless steel, about 15€ 😁
Fallen Sway eBay! 😏
i’ve an old belgian waffle iron, takes up as much space as a small pan and the sheer mass of metal ensures wonderfully slightly imperfect coloring, frell the electric ones.
Y’all should do an in-depth study of korean food. Last time I dredged fried chicken in flour I got grandma-smacked with a rice scooper, potato starch all the way for classic korean fried chicken.
I laughed sooooo many times in the first 2.55 minutes alone! At the moment I can only guess what the rest of the video brings! Guys, I love you!!!
Ebbers, darling, what is that weird spoony thing you used to lower the egg into the boiling water? I have one, NO idea what it's for. I use it like you did, and occasionally for pasta - for which it is mildly successful.
There's an episode - "What are the original and alternate uses for this gadget?"
It's a pasta spoon\pasta fork\spagetti spoon.
Pasta spoon. Like the guy below me said.
Actually the hole can vary in size depending on the model, so not the greatest portion control tool
Barry, the reference to "Inception" was genius! 😂😂😂
"There is no escaping for this egg" sounds incredibly sinister
Great reviews! I bought the rotary grater for a friend, they love it. It's perfect for someone that needs to grate a bunch of cheese from time to time, but doesn't have the need for, or room for, a full sized food processor.
I like that Barry did his nails to show off the waffle maker.
The boys were really stellar today with their sass and humor.
I would love to see an episode where the guys make their personal favorite recipes.
They had something like that a while back. I can't remember what the series is called, but if you look back, you should be able to find it.
The series is called "Made Personal with...". Each lad cooks a dish (or has the chef make a dish) personal to them, explains why/what memories they have attached to it and then answers some comments.
@@birdiekay686 Thank you. Not sure how I missed that series.
That waffle maker as well as that grater/slicer got me excited! I have a lot of kitchen gadgets and I always wondered how smart “smart gadgets” are so it was nice to see a smart waffle maker tested. Thanks!
Ben was ready to catch the egg when Jamie throws the box while Barry was ready to catch box while Jamie throws an egg 🤣🤣🤣🤣
We have one of those rotating graters at work but the electric version. It’s very useful for us. Though I agree about needing a plunger thing. We had a wooden spoon (that ended up with a slightly grated end) or would use a carrot (because we were almost exclusively grating carrot and beetroot for salads so it didn’t matter if it got carrot in it)
“Snacking waffle” was the highlight of my day.
That's when I liked the video. :)
The blooper is the funniest thing Barry has ever said. I wish you would stop testing my patience and give us more MIKE!
I like how they refer to Barry as "normal". They're so nice to him.
I bought the Rotary Cheese grater months ago, and you guys are missing the plunger! It comes with a clear "cup" to feed the last bit of cheese. Its a great product
Jamie: “It doesn’t go up your bum.”
Me: “Try more olive oil.”
😳🤣💀
In an earlier episode, James refused to make this joke on another gadget because it wasn't "family friendly".
Thank you, Jamie. You are the hero we need.
Love the waffle maker but I was looking at that grater and going 'well, that would make grating butter so much easier for all the pastries'...
"Now I've got 2.6 grams of air... in that spoon!"
"The nuts weigh less, at 45 degrees."
If either of those facts changed, my opinion might as well.
that waffle iron looks like a great candidate for the "two chefs experiment with a kitchen gadget" format
I have a hand held grater almost exactly like that, but with no base. Fits in a drawer. Got it nearly 30 years ago and I’ve used it a lot. Even has a plunger to protect my fingers.
I feel like this video would have been perfect for James' dry humor and incredibly jaded criticism.😂😂😂
I'd like to see you guys go on a scavenger hunt around London with the ingredients make a dish before the other team. Love your chanel!
