Bought and just tried the microwave grill based on this review. Works great! Yeah, it's not inexpensive. The silly fire people will not allow a regular burner or stove in the building I work in, but we do have microwaves. The closest place to buy lunch is a 10-12 min drive. Now I have an option to have a hot sandwich at work, and that saves me 30 minutes each time compared to going out. So it's worth it for me, no question. Thanks guys!!

I only have a microwave at the moment too and I'm renting an appartment. And to be honest, its not too bad? Very annoying, yes, but you can cook rice/pasta in there, and veg, and meat (i mainly use IKEA meatballs, hotdog sausages and mincemeat), put it all together and you got yourself a pretty good meal. Potatoes work too. And it doesn't taste bad at all and I wouldnt say theyre very unhealthy, about similar to what I usually ate at home. Just no herbs or salt cause I can't be bothered

The Norlan glass focuses the alcohol vapors into a more condensed opening, allowing you to smell more of the whiskey notes which in turn changes how it tastes.

Here's the science of the glasses straight from their website if anyone is as curious as I was:
"Through specially developed protrusion forms inside the glass - adapted through studying bio-mimicry - when swirled around the glass the fluid forms a standing wave shape, which increases the surface to air ratio and rate of oxidization. The effect here is that considerably more ethanol evaporates. This resulting increase in volatility allows the whisky to become significantly more expressive. This feature is an invention of the Norlan glass - no other whisky glass will do this for you."

The first one could be used to make daikon bacon, which is actually insanely like bacon.
For anyone interested, here's how you make it.
Cut/peel Daikon into bacon-like sheets. Rub them in (too much) salt and set aside for 30 minutes. Wash off the excess salt and dry them with a tea towel. Make a mixture of liquid smoke, smoked paprika, onion and garlic powders. Rub the Daikon sheets in the mixture and fry in a pan like regular bacon!

@@masansr though you’re right that the double wall design would keep your hand from warming the whisky while you drink it there IS an effect of the tapering of the glass. Having a reasonably sized chamber and a taper to the top let’s the aroma collect and then get directed towards the nose as the glass is tipped over. That’s why the glencairn is so popular with whisky drinkers, it has that vague tulip shape and a place to grab it that would limit the amount of heat that gets transferred to the whisky.
