I agree with Ben, that stirring risotto is relaxing, but now that I have a toddler in my legs, stirring and keeping an eye on the risotto has become a bit complicated. I wonder if I won’t forget and burn it if i leave that thing to do the job?

You're kinda ignoring that your "original" kitchen roll holder solves another problem that the one on review doesn't. The new one makes it easier to get a paper towel but lacks the appendage which keeps the end of the roll from flapping around or even come undone if you have a window open or use it outside. Surely the best purchase would be one that did both.
Can't you just press on the flap to do the same thing as the new one anyway?
V L no, it’s not bendy or flexible in anyway.
It seems it would be better to have the roll locked by default and then you press the little button to release it.

I bought a 4 slice toaster that has all the same features (except the auto lift) and it has other features, it adjusts the time based on temperature (so the second lot you toast is not more cooked than the first) and also has a timer so you know how long until it pops. was not called a "smart toaster" and was less than half the price. its also a name brand (Sunbeam Maestro 4 Slice toaster if anyone is interested) it was $100 AUD which works out to about $52 GBP

Could you guys do a disabled friendly kitchen gadgets review, I've tried some insane useless ones but some are amazing, sometimes things that are easy for most people are impossible for others. I'd love to see you guys try to cook with one hand, or at an always seated position, or maybe needing to use a perching stool? Love these videos, and your easy recipes make life tastier and a lot of fun 🥰😁
Ooh as a person in a wheelchair I'd love that. It's such a nuisance to cook sitting down but I'm not steady on my feet so it's not safe to stand. I'd love to see them try. Also limited hand strength & dexterity or shaky hand tests so they can't use a knife or maybe even use a tens machine so their fingers are tingly + they can only use a food processor and gadgets to cook a meal ect. It'd be funny and helpful.

Not sure if you're already aware of it, but Epicurious has a whole web series where the designer for Oxo's good grips line testing various kitchen gadgets, and he explicitly takes things like disability into account. He always does tests with a non-dominant or slippery hand to see how well it would work for someone with dexterity or grip strength issues.

Ben has mad paper tearing skills. Everytime I try it either spins too much, it tears at a diagonal or I get that stupid corner piece. Ugh. BEN! TELL US YOUR SECRET! On another note. Is there any way we can get more bread videos? Im starting to get into bread baking.

@@VixeyTeh It's a drawer or flap at the bottom of your toaster, that can be removed/opened to get toast crumbs out, so your toaster doesn't start a fire. ;)

I want that over engineered toaster just to flex on guests. I’d offer toast to everyone that drops by. It will have a place of honor in the middle of my coffee table.

Or even on your own! I mean, honestly just watching the toasts take their lift to Hell every morning would be more enjoyable than watching TV (and probably less depressing) but maybe I'm a little too entertained by toasts sinking slowly
To be fair my 10sth bucks toaster that's about 20 years old and by now is kept together by its crust of overtoasted toast also likes to shoot out my toasts halfway through the kitchen sometimes. It always depends on it's mood. Sometimes he doesn't wanna spit it out. Sometimes he just lazily flops it over the rim. Sometimes i can scratch it from the ceiling. :D
I'll be honest, I'd rather have the Sunbeam Radiant Control toaster that Technology Connections had on his show. It's Goodwill as far as price, and it's literally just drop the toast in with your darkness setting already set, and it's all automatic.
for 100£ they could've also added a color sensor to actually measure the brown-ness... might be hard to find ones that work under this kind of temperatures thought

1. Auto Stirrer - Time to do more things . . . and stare at the stirrer being cool.
2. Toaster - Show off to inlaws and good toasting
3. Beer Foamer - Anti-climactic. Drop beer on floor, open, pour, drink, same . . . clean everything around you.
4. Paper Towel Holder - Solving a problem that doesn't exist. Plus, I would have to stand on a stool to press with my elbow.

It's often that various gadgets end up failing quite soon after the initial test and it'd actually be interesting to hear about some of these gadgets after they've gotten used more. Like how Ben might've used that "pot stirrer" more now after this video, has it continued to be as good as it was in this video? How's the long term quality and did you change your mind on the products? Stuff like that would be interesting to hear more about.
That little 'bye' as the toast slowly retracts made me laugh more than it should have.

I was so confused by that 'smart toaster'; I think every toaster I've ever seen here in Aus has those functions as standard.
every toaster does those things, its a space-age looking device with blinking lights and motorised platform that sells itself on the most basic features. Its primary function is to separate rich fools from their money
Its a Breville brand toaster to the rest of the world, its only Sage brand in the UK,, or possibly Europe.

1 - Pun-off with the boys taking turns making puns with no repeats, and whoever fails to have one within one minute is going first/next. A good subject is chicken/egg.
2 - Roasting challenge with the boys making their best insults about Janice and Janice ordering them from worst to best.
3 - Evie decides the ordering by telling us or writing it down.
4 - Rainbow arrangement from red to violet based on the boys’s favorite colors with judgment calls on colors not necessarily in the rainbow.
5 - ABC by names; if by last names, then cloud eggs (because chefs first and normals last like in that video).
6 - A commenter asked this already, but do a double jeopardy with James and without Ben and see if he can achieve the same “success” that Ben did with his risotto.

From my perspective for the toaster, my biggest concern is longevity. The more complex a design, the more likely it is to fail unless it has built in redundancies which of course add even more to the cost. Given that it doesn't have any further advanced functions or ease of use compared to a regular toaster and is likely much harder to repair if anything happens, I'd say from an engineering perspective that it's a failure overall.
I mean, even regular toasters often have a bagel function that allocates more power to either the inside or outside...

I own this toaster. I am not ashamed. It's AMAZING!!! Will 100% buy again, will 100% try and influence my friends to buy - especially when having long artisan/homemade slices. Worth it.

I purchased that exact paper roll holder! It's my single favourite non-electical gadget in my kitchen. Hot wings are one thing but when you have wet hands it saves you getting half the roll soggy trying to rip off a sheet.

For the toaster - I totally felt the same as Ben when I first used this toaster - our work got one - but the more and more I use it I realise how fricken life changing it is! ...especially when everyone likes their toast differently. I love it. Definitely my next upgrade

I have an older model of this toaster. It has the same functions, came a lot cheaper and only looks a bit different. And I'm loving it! Best toaster I ever had.

I bought the toaster because my old one was not big enough for wide slices of rye bread ruclips.net/user/postUgkxE7HOOpW0eh4vbVGAB_r_cURwoxZxpZPA and it was wide enough for huge slices or, if the bread is narrow, four slices at the same time. It has a defrost setting which is great because I keep my bread in the freezer, and a rack that you can use to heat rolls. The rack will even reheat cold pizza! It does get hotter after the first slices are toasted, so for subsequent slices you need to reduce the toasting time.
Literally just got done following and eating the tomato risotto recipe and HOLY MOLY guys! Absolutely amazing!
