- In this video we head over to Ken’s Auto Repair in Billerica, MA to go over the process of putting a T-45 5 Speed Manual Transmission in Jon’s Crown Victoria Sport.

I had a 3650-swapped 2010 Grand Marquis with 2.5in X-pipe and straight-through mufflers. I... sorely miss it, but changing gears was a pain in my ass that I wasn't always up for, so here I am with my Town Car.
I still bloody miss it, and sometimes I find myself reaching for the clutch with my left foot.
i got a ride in a Bondurant instructor car years and years back. First 5 spd crown vic i ever rode in. Wanted one ever since!
This is a great video. I like manual swapping. That machine used at 13:58 looks pretty cool. I wish I had one of those I can easily do the oil change without making a mess

When Bob Bondurant's racing school was sponsored by Ford back in the day, Bondurant had a black Crown Vicky with a natural 4.6 Cobra engine and 6 speed manual as a teacher's car. It was written about in one of the many motorhead magazines I used to get back in the day.
They had several Crown Vics modified by Roush.
If my memory serves me correctly, Bondurant built a manual transmission 6.8 V-10 car as well

Thought about this for my Lincoln but half the problem knowing is the trans your swapping in any good. Lotta work to find out its one step up from a coffee grinder. Nice video Jay thanks for posting.
There are transmission shops that will rebuild manuals but true they are few and far between.
@@carguysnewengland ?? manuals are way easier to rebuild than autos every shop around my area rebuilds them

I looked into getting a newer Charger and swapping it, but it was gonna be like 12k and it'd never run right. This sounds like a better option.

How much would it cost for a shop to purchase parts and implement a 2001-2004 Mustang 5 speed manual transmission, retune computer, modify driveshaft (if needed) and add a clutch into my 2011 CVPI? I currently have my O/D gear going out and my torque converter also needs to be replaced. Cost is about $2,200 total to rebuild. Would you recommend I rebuild or swap? Thanks!
I'm rather surprised with as many Panther bodied Fords, Lincolns and Mercs as there are out there that the aftermarket hasn't embraced a Tremec 5 speed and 6 speed conversion kit. I looked at the cross member and was thinking that that would be an integral part of a swap. They could also have a new center console support, a template on where to cut the shifter hole and a new console or a way to adapt a current console.
ADTR performance sells a kit to swap a TR3650 (?) and a 6 speed for these cars.

Will a cvpi 2008 aluminum driveshaft work with the t45 trans or will I need to buy a different driveshaft?
Which trans is good for a 1997 base crown vic. Goal is lifted n used simple offroading/baby step crawling. And somewhat daily driver
Are you going to upgrade the rear arms? The manual trans puts more strain on the bushings.

how did you go about your clutch peddle build one with existing brake peddle and mustang clutch assembly or something else?
I wish I had the knowhow and the tools to do this myself. It would save me a heap of money and I’d have a good daily driver that I’m not afraid to take on backroads with gravel and abysmal potholes. Guess I’ll just buckle up and spend the extra 3k to have it installed for me…

What kind of computer issues do you have to address ? Does it need a new computer, or reprogrammed or flashed , etc ? What other electrical issues will be encountered ? Great looking swap !
I'd imagine at the very least you would need to hardwire the interlock to let the engine start without a Park or neutral selection. Also to be able to remove your key afterwards. You could even rig that up to a new clutch switch. Maybe he did that in the vid and I missed it? Multitasking here...

T56 XL might fit better. The shifter is located further back on the tail of the trans.

Dang thank you for the quick reply that’s crazy fast, did you go through sct tuner or hp tuners for it? I have both and I guess I could try and get ahold of Marty to see what he recommends, I just want to be have everything I need for it
@@thejardz4787 YW. The owner of this car got a tune and programmed SCT x4 from Marty… when he was ready to go manual he had Marty update it for him via email

it looks like a mustang transmission. I love the idea of swapping however driving a legendary crown vic with a mustang transmission is kind of weird.
The gt and vic that year had the same 4.6 2v v8 so a tr3650 off a gt should bolt right up basically with the least modifications necessary.

Your looking at least two days of worth of labor roughly 24 total hours… rates would depend on the shop you choose

This was his first swap but he’s very familiar with the Panther Platform. Swap is about 2k out there door not including parts

Why wouldn't you drain and clean befere installing it in the car?!
What would that help with? The trans it perfectly level when installed in the car and it doesn’t need the insides cleaned or anything..
Ford screwed up in a lot of ways with the crown vic. I daily my 08 LX and its a great car but for starters, they couldve began offering it with a manual and center console instead of just the bench seats.

Call me dumb but after i get my 2002 marquis running properly and perfectly and i swap out the air suspension to coil overs, im going for the manual swap.
