    I rewatched the first three films and then wanted to see the toys I had during my childhood. I did more research and realized how outdated my figures were with the newer studio series line I found out about. I love it because I would always be picky about the scale of figures to each other. Starting to collect again!

      Well not for nitpicking but TF and Lego collectors at least has to build or transform (i.e. has to put some effort) while for other toys you simply display it, but I don't want to say what I like is better than what other people likes.

      Same with me here, except I just started collecting recently. I'm trying to get some figures from WFC line, I've been trying to find Soundwave(Netflix version) for my brother, it's his favourite character, his birthday is in two months, but the prices everywhere are like $100+...
      And when you live in what is for America a 3rd world country for a corrupt corporation for $500 a month(YES, THAT'S ABOVE AVERAGE HERE), there's just no way to be a collector. Well, having a shelf full of Transformers figures(specifically WfC) was a nice dream.
      Still gonna buy the Earthrise Prime, it's the G1-iest affordable Optimus for me.

    • @TFCollector
      @TFCollector  3 года назад +1

      I understand the struggle. It was only in recent years I started making the kind of money to collect as I do. Before that, I would have to think very hard about what figures I needed the most and save up for them.

    • @ragingsaviorkami9862
      @ragingsaviorkami9862 3 года назад +1

      @@TFCollector Wow, thanks for the reply! Yeah, it's not really the price, the prices would be okay If they didn't make some of these Walmart or Amazon exclusive and very limited in numbers. Soundwave? Bumblebee? Ratchet, Ironhide? Those are like essentials, Bumblebee is the single most famous Transformers character today, yet they make the character that could've sold much more an exclusive. Actually, no, he's not even a part of the WfC line, he's Netflix.

    I primarily collect G1 figures as these are what I grew up on, but I do buy some others that appeal to me (a couple of MP's, Combiner Wars Devastator) and add the to the mix for fun. But, G1 is my nostalgia and my childhood and primarily what I seek. I try to get the newest examples of the toys. Official reissues (and "unofficial reissues") as long as they are comparable to the original vintage toy. And, if not those...then I fork out the cash for the actual vintage toy only if it is as close to new condition as possible. Bottom line, I want new G1 toys :)

    Here’s how I manage my collection. In my storage, I have my figures strictly organized by faction and continuity. I got a row of WFC figures only from the toylines taking place on Cybertron (FOC & Siege), I got a G1 row, an Aligned row, and a Movies row, and a bunch of spare shelves for other factions and misc. characters (Beast Era, Unicron, etc.). I only like to get the BEST version of a character: WFC, Studio Series, Prime: First Edition, these toyline have the best and most screen accurate incarnations of the characters in their respective continuities and they’re more affordable than the Masterpiece line. I try to only get ONE of each character, upgraded forms like Goldbug, Powermaster Optimus, Super Megatron, and Star Convoy may or may not be a different story. So yeah, in my collection, I stick to the BEST of the BEST versions of figures. For example if you have a Bayverse Megatron figure from either of the 5 films and you get the SS version of that figure, sell the original and cherish the new one

    Studio Series has now become movies in general, instead of just live action.
    I almost exclusively collect MP style G1 figures, mostly 3rd Party, Transformers. I do have most Takara, but with their rising prices, inconsistent quality, few releases a year, and redoing high selling figures instead of finishing the G1 crew, I have moved to mostly 3rd Party (predominately Fans Toys).
    The Siege and Earthrise figures are also good, affordable G1 figures. Although, their price points are catching up to MP. I am definitely an out of box collector. The only KO I may get are the recent MPM molds. The officials are not toleranced that well, and lack paint. I have to keep my KO MPM Starscream a distance away from the official MPM Megatron because the official looks like the KO due to lack of paint.

    • @TFCollector

      I've been priced out of MP completely. Like you said, they keep recycling the same characters for a quick buck, and they charge more and more every time they do. While KOs are literally illegal, I should add that for stuff like the FE Prime versions should be more forgivable since not only are the products no longer in production but gives fans an option to buy that figure. I started to collect during Combiner Wars. I was especially happy with the Legends figures in that line. In the Netherlands, where I live, you will never find a complete line in the stores (also the price is high). So, shortly in the collecting I was finding websites in my country and beyond that were specialized in these and other retro figures that were remade in more action figures or better paint and it opened my eyes and wallet. I have never sold a figure I bought. I don't like the hussle and I would probably lose money. If I bought it, I probably saw something in it, is my opinion. However, I have started to see which figures I like and do not like in a wave. And therefore I just wait out for a figure that suits my needs in the future (in an upcoming wave). For instance, I can't wait to get the SS Hot Rod (yes, they started to give us G1) because I was never happy with former releases. I do buy Third Party, because I think they bring some of the best offerings on the table and since I don't sell or buy everything I can save to buy them. I love competition, because it benefits us collectors. I try to buy the figures that have come out first and by so the original and not the ko. I do not mind ko's if they fixed issues or better yet put more engineering in them. Like Weijiang mostly does, for example. Just straight up ko's are just plain wrong imo. I collect Legends, chug, MP and Third Party. In the MP line, and in a lesser degree third party, I like to collect real (earthly) figures. And therefore my favorites are the earlier MP's that have more details. I also like to have two different characters from the same mold, so that I can put one in robot and the other in Alt-mode. I prefer Legends and Chug to transform. Because loads of the MP stuff just isn't fun transforming.

    I agree scalpers ruin everything. Being blind, I enjoy taking the transformers out of the box and playing with them. I personally call them 3D puzzles and it helps me train myself to deal with frustration. Trust me, blindness is filled with frustration. As an 80’s kid who was 9 when the Transformers came out in ‘84, i ❤️ the War For Cybertron figures with a passion!! They’re basically mini Masterpiece figures and the price is very good!! Masterpiece Transformers are a letdown to me for the price, but the WFC figures give you G1 at a great price, PLUS a new show on Netflix to go along with it

    • @TFCollector
      @TFCollector  4 года назад +1

      For me, Masterpiece used to be the perfect balance of quality and affordability. Once they made the shift to cartoon accuracy however, the overengineering, fragile parts, and inflated prices made them a no go for me. Dinobot was the last MP I ever bought.

Now I have 2 out of the 3 Wreckers, Dark of the Moon Soundwave and Scrapper (which forces me to now get the rest of the Constructicons to form Devastator).
