    Even though mainline is cheaper, there are lots of figures coming out and it can be really expensive trying to keep up. I think collecting every mainline figure might be more expensive than collecting the official mpm and mp lines which are released less frequently. I'm planning on cutting down mainline to focus on higher end stuff for next year.

    • @speakerheadTF
      @speakerheadTF  Год назад +3

      That's a very good point. I think it all depends on how many of that type of figure you have and how many you want to collect. For example, if you are brand new to collecting figures, then mainline would probably be the most affordable way to go. However, if you've been collecting for awhile and have some MP and/or legend scale figures, then it's probably more affordable to continue with the current collection you already have compared to completely restarting with a new one. I definitely agree if you are buying every mainline figure from every series (G1, Armada, BW, Animated, ect.) Then you are most likely spending more than MP or legend scale. Awesome response 🙂👍

      I recently started collecting properly after buying a couple figures years ago and I just enjoy exploring, discovering and experiencing the different lines and 3p figures that are out there. I do enjoy MP more due to the accuracy and the engineering blows me away. It’s just been a mega fun experience for me so far.

      i dont know depends, so for a collector like me that only collect only g1 cast from 84 series to the japanese contuinity. if you want to collect all the characters that appeared, overtime masterpiece will be more expensive than doing it with mainline or even legends scale.

    • @francisbullen5007
      @francisbullen5007 3 месяца назад

      @@quickshot112 retroactively, sure since the aftermarket prices are high. I meant more the volume of new figures coming out yearly. It's usually only two mpms and max 3 mp figures a year.

      @@francisbullen5007 yeah but I mean by all thru out. if I want to get all the character that has appeared in g1 toon mp would cost more than mainline. I always view it financially in the long run than in short term, how much it would cost in total in the future rather then how much I spend right now

    I only started collecting a couple of months ago and went with Studio 86 mainline and only characters or molds I like so no Blur or Arcee for example. Then discovered Legends scale and Magic Square which, IMO, produce the best looking toon accurate figures. The important thing is to focus because it is easy to fall into that rabbit hole. I decided to focus on SS 86 and only Season 1 characters produced by Magic Square since those Transformers are the most memorable and iconic to me. I'm sometimes tempted by some New Age molds or Season 2 Magic Square combiners, but ultimately, it makes more sense to find your groove and stick with it.

    • @speakerheadTF
      @speakerheadTF  Год назад +2

      Very well said. It's very important to not go down that rabbit hole of buying everything. I also agree with Magic Square overall having better sculpts than Newage. However, I think Newage absolutely nailed their Omega Supreme. We'll just have to see how Magic Square's Omega turns out (if they make him of course, but I don't see why they wouldn't)

    • @Ko-sc1cd
      @Ko-sc1cd Год назад

      @@speakerheadTF Totally. I'm really disappointed with Magic Square's Seekers, especially compared to New Age. I'm hoping MS releases a new mold of these iconic characters. I can't imagine they wouldn't with how they've improved over the years, but it could be awhile before they get around to it, assuming they'll ever do so. The Seekers are high on my New Age temptation list, but I will probably cave in and buy the MS molds as placeholders before the inevitable 2.0 release.

    I'll try pretty much any transforming toy that doesn't have the stink of Hastak's constant cost cutting all over, recently settled into Dr Wu's micromaster sized stuff and Iron Factory, but if there's a cool looking toy from another company I'll consider it, regardless of size or scale.

    Trust me, I feel the pain of deciding which Transformers you want to pick up as well as cost!😂 normally, I just choose favorites and go for how they look or sculpted. This is another reason why I never go for every single line because I need pocketbooks as big as metroplexes legs to afford it!😂❤

    Another good thing to keep in mind are after market prices. Fortunately lots of masterpiece figures and smaller legends size figures get KOs making them a lot cheaper at the downside of poor qc and plastic quality. Mainline for some reason doesn’t get many KOs and when they do most of them are upscale to masterpiece size. This makes some figure rising up in piece dramatically. For example, a ko masterpiece Prowl is around $50-$70 but Earthrise Prowl goes for over $100 and is hard to find.

    Personally I'd recommend mainline / chug figures for their playability. They are much more affordable and playable while also looking good and better than the more gimmick based toy lines because their transformations are not too long (although still take longer than is ideal). They are a good size to be able to hold easily and use. As someone who if is going to spend a decent money on a lot of figures, would want to be able to actually play with them, then I'd say chug is the best for me or anyone wanting transformers toys for similar reasons.

    I'm gonna start collecting Newage legends scale figures from season 1 and 2 of G1 because of how small they are, the quality of them, and there pretty accurate to the cartoon. Also the cost isn't that bad as mainline and masterpiece figures are just as expensive if not more expensive.

    I collected Transformers for a loooong time and it is very hard to chose what kind of line you want to collect all of them have positive. I myself only have mainline figures and I’m looking vorward to collect langends and masterpiece (if possible after all..) I also like little figures but I also like Masterpieces. Mainline has great figures like Kingdom Rodimus or Tarn and more I will hopefully collect all 3 of the lines. Anyways great video!

    I honestly have only been collecting anything Generations or CHUG related since 2012ish maybe? I do the 3P and all but after 40 years I finally grew out of G1. I never touched a Movie figure other than Bludgeon and only because he has a Generations retool as Megatron.
    The way they have the main line now is a little weird. It's still considered ongoing Generations but then there's the subline and then there's the capsules lines and sub capsule lines we have now etc...etc.

    Just started out collecting and discovered that this is such a good time to get into Transformers as there are so many to choose from. Luckily for me and my wallet, I only want to focus on G1 and only those that I played with or wanted as a kid. I will expand beyond that when I have more money to spend, but will remain within G1 exclusively. I only want figures that are as toon accurate as possible. Right now, I'm all into Newage Legends scale line, but they are so expensive. So far, I have Newage Bumblebee Ver 1.0, Powerglide, Cosmos, Beachcomber, Reflector, Soundwave, Cyclonus, and the Insecticons. I also bought MFT Perceptor, Astrotrain, and Blitzwing. Megatron and Optimus will be my next purchases and I will be okay for a while. I just need a good G1 Legends scale Warpath and Seaspray to complete my minibots collection. Minibots were only what my family could afford for me as a kid. JAJAJA

    I have different ones, fairly old, bought when masterpiece was juuust starting coming out, and they ( MP ) are my favorite, but yeah they take space and transformations are slow.. and sometimes feels like an operation.. but that's the fun of it. My biggest from mainline is the Unicron Armada, is silly but I feel lucky to have bought back in the day, before 'collecting' them was a thing... sadly all the 'scalper' community grew and moved fast and now is impossible to find something you want unless you are paying 3x times, even for re -releases of anything.

    If you could collect just 1, maybe 2 for display, which would you choose?
    I'm thinking of getting just 1 or 2 just to be put in my hobby display case (current inhabitants are ton of Gunpla, some Lego, funko, and random figurines from Godzilla, Star Wars, and Anime).
    Thoughts so far are newer versions of Blitzwing, Magmatron, and/or a Dinobot or Combiner if I dare to drop the coin.

      I think collecting vintage figures are pretty awesome! I sadly only have one, but it's My original 1985 Soundwave that I bought when I was a kid. Even though I could have bought any of the mainline toys that were coming out, I still bought G1 Soundwave 😁 I even have the reissue because my original one was in pretty bad condition when I got it but I wanted one I could transform. To this day it's still one of my favorite figures. But to make a long story short, it's very cool to collect those vintage figures. I would probably collect them if I had room for them

    I feel like there should be a note for which lines you want to collect, like for me I don't like most of the lines because I despise G1 due to how overly corny and bland the designs are, so for me it's better to collect separate show lines or most of the SS characters.
