    Am a bit late to the party (given this vid is a couple of years old now) but.. having said for years ‘I’m not old enough for an e bike’ a very recent hip replacement helped me decide ‘maybe it’ll be useful to get me back on the trails’.. so appreciated your wit, advise and comments, and have just treated self to a powerfly 7. If you ever fancy some ride around Kinloch rannoch let me know! Cheers.

    Really enjoyed listening to your musings. You have a great sense of balanced views - in regards to the bike, your skill level etc. Bravo. A lot of "amateur" MTB RUclipsrs often overcompensate/exaggerate their expertise.

    I was waiting for my first Powerfly 5 bike to delivered to me when I stumbled onto your great video. What a refreshing time I had watching it. Your experience is put to us who are viewing in plain terms and I have used a lot of your points when I am riding on my new bike.

    I swore I would never buy an e-bike when I moved to an hilly area surrounded by woodlands as I thought it was cheating. After 3 years riding my road bike I decided to buy the trek marlin 6+ electric and wow your so right it takes cycling to another level. I can now literally go any where I want up hills any where on the tracks in woods. I mean it is still a work out as you still have to pedal but I do go alot further now and discovering so much more In my area with out the worry of getting back after a long trek. Great video, you explained everything that the benefits an E-bike brings.

    Another good video Cameron - always nice to see one from someone who actually bought the bike and was not given it with the intention of marketing purposes! And refreshing you mention the negatives as well as positives, stay well and hopefully the feet issue will be resolved soon. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍

    You may well have convinced me an Ebike is the future for me as I reach my mid 60s, thanks for the review.

    Its the way to go Cameron, my Merida gives me a incredible amount of freedom, the Shimano Steps system has been faultless even in the extreme downpours i've cycled in. Good on you.

    Just watched it Cameron. A great intro showing the beautiful autumn colours and a very informative review of the bike. Although I'm not ready for an ebike just yet it was very interesting and a good guide for those looking to buy one.

    Hello Cameron great review on your bike, unfortunately my bike doesn’t have a battery.
    We enjoy the outdoors, biking, camping, walking, and of course our Scotland too!
    Lovely sense of humour you have.
    Beautiful little ride through the trees there at the start of your video.

    Great review Cameron! Really well put together - some lovely shots! Thinking of getting back into cycling as it is something I always loved. I am lucky to live a few hundred yards from the Trans Pennine Trail, so have plenty of nice rides at my disposal. I think an E-Bike would help my aging body get back into it, and the Trek caught my eye (already have a Trek non electric).

    Thanks for the honest review, I remember watching tour video last year.
    I am finally in the market for my first ebike and the Powerfly 5 has always been my priority.
    I think my riding habits will be similar to those of yours, trails, hills and leisurely rides that my normal bike wouldn't take me.
    Am looking to get a bike in the coming weeks/months to hit the Welsh scenery which looks very similar to your beautiful Scottish mountains!

      Get a Bafang 750W mid drive motor kit and fit it to any standard mountain bike and you'll save yourself a fortune. My kit was £600 including the battery. Just as powerful as anything out ther for £2000 and upwards.

    I have the same bike, had it nearly a year and coming up for 1,000 miles so your mileage is impressive. Bit disappointed in the range - 70 miles stated on a full charge in eco mode. 25 mile run later display says 30 miles left. Apart from that (and the weight) I am very happy with it👍

    • @genustinca5565
      @genustinca5565 Год назад

      Keep in mind that the range indicator constantly adjusts to your cycling style. So if you are powering uphill a lot for a good stretch of the route, it will display a much shorter range. But overall the range may be much greater, and when things level on your route, the range increases again.

    Excellent video Cameron. As for tubeless, good luck with that one! My hybrid bike came with tubeless tires, wouldn't hold air for any longer than a day, so swapped to regular tires.

    • @garyboyle695

      Sounds like the rims had not been taped with tubless tape to cover the spoke holes.

    • @davidcoia2432
      @davidcoia2432 3 года назад +1

      @@garyboyle695 Now that you mention it, when I took the tires off, I noticed that the rim tape was particularly poor quality, very thin and fragile. When I spoke to the bike shop on this issue of the tires going down, they never mentioned that the rim tape could be a factor. Hmmmm

    Regarding fitness. I use a heart rate monitor and target an average bpm for my rides. I have found that using the power a bit more than I did improves my average speed and makes me put in more effort and encourages me to out out more. E bikes are great for fitness. Another grey beard here.

    Cameron do you pause on the pedalling whilst changing up gears if not i find that if you do it stops clunky g/changes...ps totally brilliant ebikes got mine at 69 now 70....2000miles cant keep off it 👍👍👍

    • @CameronMcNeishOutdoors
      @CameronMcNeishOutdoors  3 года назад +1

      Yes I do pause, most of the time, when changing gear but find it awkward when going uphill - when you pause pedalling you lose speed. But that's a minor complaint. Like you I love my e-bike.

    • @CameronMcNeishOutdoors

      Bearing in mind the huge expense of an e-bike I'd suggest you try one out first. Lots of bike shops now hire e-bikes. Good luck!
