The most amazing thing after 20k in a Taycan is how effortless the car is. The charging at home and about is never an issue. All Porsche owners get a card which gives you a discount at the Ionity stations so never cost so far more than £17 to charge. The ride quality I always say is the car in normal mode just levitates across the surfaces. The grip levels on the road are insane. The traction both in the dry and wet are to be frank insane. If Joe did the Porsche experience day in one he would be even more surprised what the car can do. The Tubo and Tubo S are just to quick for the road. The 4S is the pick for me, performance / range / comfort. Mine was the saloon but a Sport Turismo is now the best option! If you get out of a Taycan into say a BMW i4 M50, the BMW is nearly as quick but the steering is numb by comparison and the traction is nowhere near as good. But it is £40K less to buy optioned up. The Porsche is the best EV you can buy. Also loses no money over time so far! 4S range 220mile in winter up to 295 in the summer based on 14 months in the car! Quickest charge 10% to 90% in 17 minutes!

While I don’t have a Taycan, I do have an electric car through work. In September, I swapped my BMW 335d for a VW id3 pro due to being offered what is effectively a free car thanks to current BIK rates on electric. My summary from my admittedly limited experience across models is to stay well clear of electric for a number of reasons. First off is range, mine is rated at 220ish miles which on the face of it sounds great however when it gets cold, it drops to as low as 175! I charge at work but do not have a charger at home which means over the weekends I’m constantly looking for public chargers. As Joe pointed out, they are often broken but also damn the expensive for the pleasure of wasting an hour of life… Trust me, this gets old very quickly. Beyond this, the car is dead to drive. For someone who lives cars, I’ve found nothing enjoyable about driving electric beyond slightly above average acceleration for the equivalent car. Save yourself the trouble and don’t do it! Rant over 😅
Brilliant review Joe. Seems to me the sweet spot of the recent Porsches you reviewed is that 992 GTS. Nearly as fast as the Taycan off the line but still rewarding at the legal limit with the noise and poise!! The engines in power plant run much closer to their best efficiency point and we can actually make some changes to run them on the so called bio fuel, so the concept of electric car and bio fuel does not necessarily be separate.
