- Taycan Sport Turismo GTS review. Porsche's EV estate finally steals Audi RS6 crown.
If you have followed The Late Brake Show channel since its name change then you may recall our review of the first Porsche Taycan estate - the Cross Turismo. With raised ride height, AWD as standard and a smattering of Audi Allroad-esque plastic cladding, the X Turismo really impressed The CarPervert. A bit like the Panamera long-roof version, it was almost the car Porsche should have made all along.
Thanks for stopping by The Late Brake Show (don't forget to subscribe on your way out).
Jonny's verdict of the Taycan Cross implied that Porsche will build a non-Cross version, which he believed would look cleaner, cost less, and possibly give the option of having as a base model rwd (single motor) EV. That day has arrived.
To read more about why Jonny chose to review this Porsche (what he likes/doesn't like), and to get a bonus Porsche 944 Turbo Cargo 'DP Motorsport' historical feature, then head over to our Patreon Page: / thelatebrakeshow

happy to watch the slightly longer format becasue its so relaxed, a chat rather than a torrent of info. This is a benchmark high end car irrespective of its drivetrain, though all the better for what it has achieved. would love to see them make a smaller version though....there's only two of us and perhaps a bike and luggage in the back
Where is the Macan EV…that is the one Iam waiting for!🙂🙂
I agree wholeheartedly
@@HQBProductions around 2023
Two-door Taycan ST would be a great Scimitar-style bike waggon.

Porsche executives watching the Late Brake Show: "Write that down!! Write that down!!"
20:35 Somebody please clip this 😂😂
You said the one word I thought I would never hear....It has a SOUL. You are so so becoming such a legend in my eyes Jonny. Its the one car that I would buy if I ever had the money. Brilliant and thanks for sharing it.
I love Johnny's reviews. So laid back and so natural.
And fake. His 5th gear vids are beyond the pale fake
@@fakevirus8828 So you're saying he wasn't in that car? Was it someone else's voice? Or, you don't understand how these things are done?
@@davidmccarthy6061 judging by his username I’d say it’s some kind of humorous comment 😶
Kudos to Johnny because I almost didn’t watch this since I could care less about overly expensive new cars. You do great reviews because you’re honest and don’t drink the kool-aid of any brand because of who they are or what county it comes from.
Absolutely drank this review in. What a lovely car that is not only aspirational, but in a way that I could definitely live with. I can’t see me affording this perfect package anytime soon. Definitely top of my list for dream cars now though.
Thanks so much for bringing this to us Jonny.
Being an engine lover but nonetheless having picked up a gentian blue Taycan Cross Turismo 2 weeks ago, I can say that it really is a dream car. It is awesome to drive and even with all the "electric car scepticism" you can really feel, that it is a Porsche. I absolutely love it and hope, that you will be able to experience or even own one in near future :)
@@vincentrenevier Fuzzy Wuzzy was a woman!
Great video Jonny! Couldn't agree more that this is the Taycan to get. It looks so much cleaner and sexy without the plastic trim on the fenders.
5:55 Such a simple but brilliant idea for composition of this scene but I can imagine this might have been one of the hardest location to find. These little details is what sets this channel apart.
Many thanks Mayank 👌🏽
The car is as stable as riding the train I assume 🙂

Yep...corners on rails! 😁
I honestly think Jonny is the best car reviewer going. He talks about the things normal people want to know. This is the car I would buy it I could afford it
Lease it.
Very thorough review as always Jonny - Porsche have their EV A game in play
Love the reviews Johnny 👌. This is a spectacularly beautiful car. Yes, lots of hyperbole 🙂. Apart from the magnesium GT2 RS wheels, these are the nicest alloys I've seen on a car to date.
I didn't think I would hear the word vuvuzela when tuning in. Very pleased. Great review.
I absolutely love your reviews Johnny. Brilliantly informative and entertaining. I’ve ordered a Taycan Turbo and the wait is gonna kill me so I’m living through these reviews until then. Thanks 👍🏻😁
Superb review - best car channel on RUclips. We’ll done Jonny 👍🏽 I’d buy a Taycan Cross Turismo tomorrow or maybe Saturday; after I’ve won the Euromillions 😄
Ordered mine last weekend, really looking forward to it after long lamenting the loss of petrol cars.
Great review, Jonny! Somehow I first saw it now, 11 months after airing and 6 months after I was so lucky as to buy one myself. It has been a pleasure to own and drive, I guess it’s the combination of soul and practicality that I really love about this car. I even also have a 911 991.2 4S cabriolet, but I keep choosing the Taycan ST GTS every time, it’s just that brilliant.
Brilliant review, thanks Jonnie. Looks like you’re driving around the Stamford area!? Beautiful villages and driving roads. Was thinking, it’d be ace if Porsche eventually would do a smaller Sports Macan sized mini-estate!
Late Brake show spec!, you are such an influencer!! Great video as always!
Love your Channel Jonny. Always look forward to the variety of your reviews. Never gets boring. Keep up the good work. Ohh love Smith N Sniff podcasts. More SLord Sugar please. Wetting myself when you both last did it.
Cheers Andy.
Looks the business. I owned a couple of Boxsters including a lovely 3.2S. Amazing setup and road handling. I drove the Audi TT and the BMW Z3 straight six.. The Boxster just fits you like a glove and rides the road effortlessly in all conditions. A pure thoroughbred with F1 chassis design. Great show Jonny as always.
Oof, I normally agree with your taste Jonny but that Model S estate at 7:10 is awful, it looks like a hearse! Great video as always though, I've been working in the EV industry for 7+ years now and you're still one of the best.
Also if you're going to fake an EV noise surely go for Milenium Falcon or the Tron bike? Not the South Africa World Cup.
I like hearses
I was watching you read off a scrap of paper and thought you had missed a trick with not using your merch notepad.
I love my travel mug and will use it when I'm staying put too!
My notepad was full that morning and I couldn't fetch another in time. Sorry! Ordinarily I have it with me every day.
@@TheLateBrakeShow I thought you might have sold them all!
@@TheLateBrakeShow Where did you shoot this. It looks like the Cotswolds.
Great review man. Loved it. But my god that hand moving in the background right at the end freaked me out.. 😂
Nice review as always. Love how you manage to flit from somewhere near Peterborough to what looks like the south of France.
Excellent review of an equally brilliant car. I was very happy when Porsche announced this car, I actually believe that they should've released this before the Cross Turismo. I look forward to seeing these things out in the wild.
PS: It was only yesterday evening that I was rewatching your normal Taycan first drive video with Fully Charged.
An instant classic, Porsche engineers are legendary just like your reviews, thanks so much 🙏
@@Ty-hg8bo I wasn't talking to you, go watch some Hemi stuff instead of being rude in someone else's comment.
Side, rear quarters remind me of the VW Scirocco.
Great car though. Loved the review @Jonny; always honest and no for-the-sake-of-it filler.
I do agree with you about this over the RS6 @Jonny.
Particularly the side on view, you should qualify that with the last Scirocco as it looks nothing like the Mkll 8V GTi I had 😉
Scirocco.... The German Capri!
@@HugoHocknell I had a 1971 3000E manual Capri 5 years before the Scirocco
Since you started the comparisons with previous models, for my tuppence-worth, based on the window-lines, I think it makes the rear-3/4 view look like a 'longer' Mk 3 VW Scirocco...
Wonderful review. Really enjoying this channel for its variety.
You have such a lovely, nerdy, interesting way to talk about the cars with us. We really appreciate you!
Automotive review brilliance as always Jonny. Which other car journalist uses a funnel as a prop! Awesome…
What a cracking review, throughly enjoyed that. You clearly articulated how good Porsche are at design and build.
Nice shot with the red train at the background and as always great video by Jonny
Brilliant review as always Jonny, you're the best blend of info, humour and charisma. Semi.....two types of Semi......
Great video. Was that Wittering Grange where you matched it?
An incredibly informative, practical, and effective review- but it really was your funnel demonstration that I had to give my like and subscribe after 😂
Sometimes I have to pinch myself when I see an all-electric, four-door, wagon/estate (and here comes the pinch) PORSCHE !?! And then I have to admit I love it. Can't wait to see what they deliver as a 2 or 2+2 in this power train.
Top 5 car journalist!!!
You just keep getting better
Love the laid back feel, of your videos.
Great review. That car looks wonderful compared to the sedan version.
Excellent review. Lovely car. I still want a standard Taycan with suspension that can lift to give the practical ground clearance of the Cross Turismo…
Who is sitting in the back? Great video as usual. Like the format. Doubt if we will see this in Australia.
Absolutely stunning car! Great review mate.
So, so, informative. Thanks a mil !
I want one with the cheapest factory colour, black bumpers and steel wheels.
Oh yes Jonny, love the GTS level on all Porsches but on an estate. Beautiful.
Another great thoughtful review Jonny. Drove a Sport Turismo last week as I try to get closer to my old E63 AMG estate after nearly 4 years in a Model S. The Taycan ST drives a treat but the lack of proper regen relegates it to a “learner EV” desihned for their existing ICE customers. The fake noise is deeply annoying as you have to turn it off every time and the trip planning for charging and charge management enroute is woefully basic.
Ace handling, great performance and amazing interior. Audi looks better but lacks Avant option. Still good first attempt for a weekend car, not sure I’d tour Europe with it.
Point to note: The rapid charger swaps sides for RHD cars. Dumb. Means you can only use Tesla Superchargers (which are slowly opening up) in LHD cars. Daft. No one else does this except VAG. Do they imagine we still have kerbside “fuel pumps”….?!!
Taycan has the highest regen of any EV, but you do have to use the brake pedal. It's more efficient that way. The sound can be turned of and should only activate when using sport+ mode. If you buy the car you don't need to buy the electric sport sound option. I did Route planning on my smartphone when I used a Taycan last year or so but of course the car navigation system should be able to provide decent planning.
@@computercrack Yes brakes are for ICE drivers. Anyone with a decent EV is used to one pedal driving. Porsche needs that option. Unless you’re driving hard eg S+, moving to the brake is inefficient, it’s wasted movement, there’s nothing efficient about it. So it has poor regen for one pedal driving, it barely works at all.
The inbuilt charge planning is hopeless. Again, not what I expected from Porsche. As I said, weekend toy not cross-Europe blaster.
@@ruaraidhmcdonald-walker9524you are wrong if you think everybody likes OPD. I don't. You know I want to relax my foot every now and then and don't brake like a maniac cause I need to lift my foot. I think Porsche has made the right choice to keep the "ICE feeling". But I agree they could give you the option, it's just software. I didn't find the route planning to be that bad but chose to be on the safe side with the smartphone since it was the first long range trip with such a car. Anyway have a nice day
@@computercrack We’re agreeing: It needs to have the option to have one pedal driving. Audi do that with steering wheel paddles, again shame though, most of the power is on the brake pedal. I expect a Porsche to have options for any driver to be happy, that’s what you’re paying for and, as you say, it’s just software, hence my complaint.
Yes anyone can use ABRP on Carplay but should you have to?
You have a good day too, nice to have a grown up conversation on here!
So glad to see a forward-looking estate at this time, when oversized SUVs seem to be the fashion.
Oh Jonny I nearly choked during your funnel sound demo 🤣. Great review, this is on my euro millions list for sure.
Another great video Jonny, looking forward to coming down to another live show next year.
Great review. Thank you.
Was looking at some angles and thinking, meh maybe not, then saw some others oh that is really rather nice. You are right about the carbon peacockery on it, I don't understand it and what is the first thing that will get scuffed that stuff that will cost a fortune to replace. Was thinking in black with gold wheels would be a fine looking thing, but did you show the wheels you would have that you mentioned at the start? anyway, a very fine thing indeed. Cheers for the vid :D
Great review jonny.
Your son is quite correct about porsche vs lambo's 😉
I think the sport turismo is better looking than the saloon - can't help but think the rear end looks like a slightly inflated scirocco - and your daughter is correct about the red 👍
Scirocco is a looker!
That profile shot with the train carriage and JS on the rock 😎👌
But if a car exceeds the minimum UK car park bay size, I lose interest.
Fit for purpose? 🤔
Jonny, Loyal fan from Australia here. Love the pod, well done spyorttttaaa! Anyway, when you were doing your walk around you seemed to be parked in a rather large slab of mud, which i'm guessing made it's way into the interior. @joeacchilles does this on all his videos and it makes me think he's potentially a serial killer, your not a serial killer are you Jonny?
I am not sir, but filming in winter here is tricky for this kind of thing.
Great video. It begs the question when are Audi going to release the e-tron GT Avant? I may have missed it but does the GTS get optioned with the fold away bike rack?
Yes the flap on the rear wheel arch is unnessesary, but the much nicer looking front bumper is only available with this flap on a modified rear bumper for the sports package. (with or without CFRP applications) So you kind of have to go with the flap... ;)
Number 1 selling Porsche is the Taycan. Go Figure! I would have to own both. The Cross in the winter and this Beauty in the Summer.. Johnny, I think you invented the Funnel Band. You’re on to something.
Another great video Jonny. So informative. Porsche have set up charging points across Mallorca. I have sent you a photo. Cheers
Jonny, how can you not love that car, it’s a masterpiece. If I had the money I’d buy it I would in a heartbeat. Range is great which is the main issue with Ed’s and the rapid charge time is fantastic. OBW as a trivial item, I love the watch you are wearing in the film, what is the make and model please?
Thanks Mike. Watch is a U-boat U42 titanium
Sensational review Johnny, but as we all know it's a Scchhpoort ;)
Spaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwghttttt-tahhhh
Hmm nice left-field Porsche , love the kids review ! but as always fab video , interesting dilemma, which one do you get? but our Jonny spotted it , its this one ! Hmmm -again careless whisper , so many cars out there similar and cheaper than this ! , but depends on your rear pocket assets!
Awesome review!! Love it
Wish we were going to see these in the US, would definitely consider trading in my new 2021 Model S.
That shot of the car next to the train 😎👌
6:59 Looks like your Zippo slipped out of your pocket there, Jonny.
Cool video, thanks.
Just about THE best tint of red I've seen, loving it!
4:32 That old Porsche estate looks like a rip off Austin Allegro shooting brake 🤣
A great video, lots of details. 👌 The only thing I don't like is calling it an estate. 😅
Great review and a car I am seriously considering. You mentioned early in the video that you would confirm which wheels you would go for and unless I missed something, you didn't come back to this? I would be grateful if you would give your advice on this please?
What an amazing review of this taycan. The whole time I could feel you almost trying to justify buying one for yourself. I hope you buy one, and I hope I do some day too!
Great review, as usual. My income is anywhere near it should be to have this doubt, but I guess I would take that weird Model S state instead of this. It probably is a worst quality car, with a not so nice interior, worst driving feeling... but the supercharger network is really important for a car to work properly.
Regarding the funnel, I guessed it was to show the head room in the back, but no :)
I saw a cross turismo the other day. Damn it looks good in person, MUCH better than the saloon IMO.
Johnny - This isn't going to be outlawed!
Magnus Walker - Hold my beer!
Great review.
If Porsche wants to make the Taycan range even more complicated then I would want them to create a '2S' version that's RWD-only but quicker than the base model. As a Sport Turismo.
No, that would be "S" only, like the Carrera S
Great review of an extremely desirable car. On another note though, whose hand was that on the back seat at the end of the video?!
The side view rear quarter looks exactly like my scirocco
Liked after 0:43. Well done, Mr. Smith.
Hmm, I guess it’s a toss up between this and the MG5 😂
That's the full package right there, all the car you will ever need and as you say won't be outlawed.
Two types of semi!!! 😁😁 I'll take an Innuendo over a Squirrel moment any time!!.
Love that. Carbon trim. Like a tracksuit. 👌
Any more electric estate cars on the way? Looking to replace my ‘daily duty’ Focus Active estate. Nothing electric has the space of a decent estate.
It's a very impressive & sexy car, but I've always liked a fast shaggin wagon, not keen on the colour but I could choose something different, Rj in Oz, 4:45am here
Great review 👍🏾👍🏾
Great review, but please hide the funnel from Jonny!
You are right Simon.
No idea what you were trying to achieve with that funnel in the back seat Jonny but my dog has never been so interested in one of your reviews.
Funnel goes on your head old Son! Another great vid Jonny. Please keep them coming.
Stunning car. Jonny, what make is the jacket you are wearing?
I think that’s a gorgeous car, great work Jonny
Nice review. On a related note, have you all watched the Aston Martin DBR9 Power Lap on YT?

Fabulous looking vehicle, great review.

Love it, Jonny. Well predicted. Now, what are the lotto numbers on Friday so I can put down a deposit for one, please?
Just watched this back Great review that confirmed my decision to swap from the standard to ST was the right call Mine finally arrived and it’s every bit as good as Johnny says
