For those wondering (you probably weren't) there are roughly 1,400 scripting nodes making this experience possible. A lot is going on behind the scenes that wasn't really worth mentioning (as you'll find out yourself) such as A.I. injuries and health regeneration, falling off the table transitions, how I worked around overhangs and nooks while using Pawn Prop pathing, how I ensured your markers wouldn't get merged into objects ultimately squishing your characters, and so on. Enjoy!

The amount of work you put into things like solving pathing issues, preventing griefing, and adding immersive elements is what really makes this incredible. I recognize that it's "experimental", but what you've released is polished as hell.
I had core game mechanics completed by Nov. 10th. Since then, it's all been designing and testing systems that I barely touch on or don't even mention in this video because it'd make the video hours long! It's a simple game, but I just had a 1v1 with a random I found in the CGB that lasted 50 minutes and I think by the end he understood strats better than me lmao
@@RedNomster Seriously, Buckling isn't embellishing at all, most first party devs don't even have this polished of gamemodes on launch these days, which obviously they typically have a lot *more* testing to do to get the game functioning at all in the first place, but still, this is a huge project and we're all here for it!
I remember my forge days in halo reach thinking that nodded chess game mode was the pinnacle of player creativity but now I feel old looking at youngsters build rpg mechanics in vanilla forge.

with two great rolls I had discovered, then used, Cortanaa to destroy the enemy's great computer citadel.

experiencing the crazy advancement into 3d graphics with the nintendo 64 with revolutionary games like mario 64, ocarina of time, etc. and then seeing this within the same lifetime is wild

@@simonbrown8533 There's a revival if you didn't know already. A company, Renegade Game Studios, got the rights from Hasbro to reboot the franchise. They're doing a livestream March 1st to show the new pieces, terrain, and talk about price points and such.
This is awesome, it really shows how strong Forge can be in this game, cant wait for someone to make a functional Monopoly or better making a functional Risk(my favourite Table top game😅) never thought someone would actually create a working tabletop game, awesome work and i cant wait to play it👌

this reminds me of playing Chess in Halo Reach for hours with my friend lmfao. we broke my 2nd controller at one point and still wanted to play Halo Chess so we just passed the controller around and made "ending your turn" changing sides. those were the good ol' days

Many people have said it in different ways already... but I'm in total awe at the amount of time and effort that has gone into this. Every time you show off a new feature it's topped only moments later by something just as cool! I seriously can't imagine even beginning to create something like this. I'm over here happy to apply my 'coding skills' to Halo's node editor and then see what you've done and feel like an absolute newbie again lol. I cannot wait to try this out for myself with some friends. It's also very neat to see how you achieve some of this using the node editor, such as the 'pawn' movement style.
Thanks Austin! I actually don't have any traditional coding skills, but I've spent a lot of time with Minecraft commands so node graphs are ez in comparison haha. Hardest part are the limitations and finding workarounds. But I try to make the best map I can make each time, and seldom does that not involve Halo's full toolkit (building AND scripting). I also have no traditional art skills. I'm the definition of "if I can do it so can you" 😅 just requires passion and some practice

lol incredible. I was just thinking about making a management sim where you run a mercenary company of spartans or marines, using campaign AI to create somewhat random missions. But.. woo a lot of work. Looking at this.. lol, it's a LOT of work. This is crazy impressive, great work once again!
