I really believe Finch staff needs to be craftable to give summoners a consistent start. RNG sucks and waiting for Abigail's Flower to spawn off gravestones is frustrating, especially in hardcore when you have to get to lava layer without ANY way to defend yourself. It's not *impossible* or anything but it definitely isn't very fun. Oh god I remember spending like 6 hours trying to get the blade staff from enchanted swords when that's how it use to drop. I love summoner :( I just wish ReLogic would change a couple small things
Don't worry, you can shimmer a Living Wood Wand into a Finch Staff if you manage to find the Aether before making a Flinx Staff!! I remember when the Blade Staff was obtainable from Enchanted Swords, it really was the answer to Queen Slime. While it's agonizing that she drops it now, it gives you more of a reason to fight her (and her flying speed got nerfed at some point).

I don't believe that would be as frustrating as the other options but definitely a *wee* bit out of the way. But yeah queen slime is rather... eh as a boss IMO. I just made a world wide platform and ran back and forth whipping her with obsidian armor on a unicorn mount to cheese her.

I feel mixed with putting mounts here since they clutter the tier list but ok. I find it interesting that Explosive Trap didnt get the Start up nerf so you can use it like a balista staff but the sentry has to be closer to enemies. I do think the damage is decent for crowds so ill put it on B- tier 24:36 Leather Whip is going to suck hard in 1.4.5 because theres a whip that looks like its made of cobwebs so its niche being stsrter whip is gone now. 31:23 Pygmy Staff being good at Golem or Plantera doesnt really work because other summons you get in that stage in the game are simply better and golem being golem is ofc going to die to post-plantera summons. Pygmy Staff doesnt really have any niches since it sucks at short spaces so Dungeon/Temple grind sucks, and arent good at solar eclipse/frost moon/pumpkin moon because of the lack of piercing. 32:32 The issue with Rainbow Staff is that the Lunar Portal Staff exists. Its essentially outclassed by it after the buff and I like the idea of it being moved to Empress of Light drop with some balance changes so Rainbow Crystal Staff wouldn't just be in Lunar Portal Staffs shadow. 34:24 Not really after the nerfs it got. So its only good for until Plantera but its still a good weapon ill put it on A+ Tier because Bloon Moon Fishing sucks and Dreadnautilus is pure cancer to fight. 36:06 Suprised Slime staff is on B tier especially it being just a weaker Vampire frog staff and especially with how rare it is so its instant bottom F tier. Hope in 1.4.5 thry give it the Blade Staff treatment and move it to King Slime drop 40:44 Frost Hydra ill put it on B tier because it isnt really worth to grind with OOA sentries existing. It still suffers from s and i hope it gets a rework instead.
I felt like not many, if anyone, really cared to consider certain mounts as summon weapons. I do personally, but I can see why some wouldn't. It's true that Explosive Traps have an instant cast, I must've forgotten to mention that. I used that to spawncamp the Destroyer once, it was glorious. Pygmies definitely have a short lifespan, yeah. I think it's kind of unique that they don't pierce, making them better for single targets, but I wouldn't mind that changing. I actually find them helpful indoors, unlike say Deadly Spheres that get stuck on corners. Honestly I sometimes consider Bats one of the better minions against Empress. The DPS is lower than others, but the sheer reliability is astounding. Slime Staff looks like it's getting a resprite next update. Hopefully that means it'll get a balance or drop change of some sort. The thing about Frost Hydra is that it was made so rare due to sentries being unheard of at the time. That uniqueness is lost now, so I do agree that another buff would be nice. I noticed that lack of i-frames when I was recording...
The fact that whip stacking is so common, so ur keeping old whips, its kinda weird theres no zenith equivalent for whips. I mean the potenial is right there
regarding flinx spawn rate: once you know HOW they spawn, they actually show up really, really fast. the trick is, they're a tundra enemy that does not want to spawn on snow/ice. so the best way to farm flinx is to dig up to the edge of tundra in low surface/high underground, and make a set of spawn platforms just off the edge of the screen AWAY from the tundra. you'll have more flinx fur than you know what to do with in a hurry.
huh! you're right, i missed that in 1.4.4's patch notes. that's startling, because i'm pretty sure i still ran into flinx spawn behavior weirdness in a don't dig up world i played in last year...@@scientistB
revisiting this, i found out what i keep glitching on previously with flinx: i keep forgetting it's a cavern level enemy. my memories INSIST it can be found in the underground layer, which is incorrect. once i got down to cavern tundra, i found that they spawned pretty readily, implying the 1.4.4 patch did fix their rarity.@@scientistB
