Hi guys! This is the last video I shot while I was working with Harris and the Senpai crew. We've had a good run together, but starting in the New Year, I'm going at it on my own. So this is the final video with Harris for a little while (but hopefully not forever!). Please give this video some love and if you found anything helpful, please post it below in the comments. We've got a big journey ahead of u and I'm excited for it. Love you guys ❤
So many of these really resonated with me. Your content has been so helpful and encouraging during my content creation journey. I find that the biggest one I struggle with is comparing myself to others. I think that's mainly due to the platform being so dang saturated that I'm worried whatever I have planned isn't going to be good enough, or I see someone else's video of a similar concept that I thought would be original and they absolutely nail it and I get discouraged. Then I just make excuses to not hit record. You've helped stave off those fears. Thanks for all you do, man.
I’m not gonna lie this video really built up my confidence in content creation. Thank you so much, it’s childish but I’ve been so hard on myself these past 2 years and could barely handle it stressing out who I am online. Thank you guys.
This is such a helpful discussion. You've both been huge for me finally trying this thing out. Been going actively about 6 months now and sitting at 326 subs but I'm learning so much everyday and you guys are a huge part of that. Thank you.
Solid advices. It's more like psychological things, not technical things (how to create title, thumbnail, intro), but it's definitely great advices. Keep it up, thanks 👍👍
Sam - I love watching your content. You are so relatable. Your points about developing your individual personality are spot on. My biggest takeaway is that it's okay to make content regarding a subject that already exists on RUclips. In fact, it's hard to create content that hasn't already been covered in some way. We tend to subscribe to those who have a personality that meshes with our own. So create content, be an individual and people who like you for YOU will watch. You'll also end up with an audience that you don't have stress about constantly pleasing because they already like you for just being yourself. Keep up the good work and don't lose your humble personality!
Hey Sam just want to let you know that you’re one of those channels I’m subscribed to who I genuinely am always excited to see upload a video. Always enjoy your informative content.
Another great video Sam. I'm so excited for you in this new chapter of your content creating. Congratulations on making the decision that was best for you, and I'm so excited to watch you grow.
Wow! High functioning Aspergers, you are an inspiration Harris! I had to rewind like 3 times, you’ve just really connected with me in the video. Thank you Sam and Harris for this awesome video!
Great video. I greatly appreciate Harris mentioning his aspergers because I wish younger people with it knew just how many creators have it and are still putting themselves out there with success.
Man I'm Sorry to see you two go your separate ways, your colab's are pretty awesome! Best of luck to you brother! Happy Holidays! PS I still be watching for sure. Thank you for your inside info!
Once again, thank you very much for such excellent content Mr Woodhall. I needed this today. I have been struggling to get my subscribers up and over the last month or so, and people who started around the same time as me have had massive boosts in numbers lately and it has really been bugging me why I am not boosting with them. Then I remember that actually I have an intense full time job and a family with a child, so I need to reset my expectations that I will likely go slower than them simply because they have far and away more time than me to do this. I have been focusing on the quality of my content as much as I can as I know my niche and USP will take time and will need to grow, but I want to ensure that when penny drops that I know what I am doing to make it happen. Your continued content really helps me on my journey. Thank you.
Harris, thank you for opening up about your experience with ASD. I've also found myself crafting a personality by taking bits and pieces that I like from others; at first this made me feel like I was fake, but after awhile I've crafted my own approach based on those who I admire and I've been made better for it.
Something that I learned while learning to draw, that I found actually helped me get my edits done was this "don't focus on the eye" don't get so focused on the details before you have the rest up to a reasonable point before hand!
awesome video . you are looking well . looking forward to your new videos hope you and Harris didn't have a falling out. merry xmass and a awesome new year.. and may both of our journeys be awesome.
Thank you Sam for 1 informing me about today's sponsor and 2 having me think about what I can do for content in 2022. Only thing now is to...learn how to write scripts.
Thank you for the work you do. I'd never video edited or worked with video at all prior to the pandemic and your content has helped me embrace video editing as a potential new career! It started with just wanting to put a little more effort into my content quality and now I can't wait to start working with programs like After Effects when I can afford to expand. Best of luck with the next step and thank you again!
This is a fantastic video Sam! I recently picked up a volunteer position as a community manager, and I am definitely sharing this video with my creators. So many good points between yourself and Harris! THANK YOU!
Don't focus on the numbers, and just keep plugging away are things that are so difficult for me as a content creator. I appreciate every time it gets hammered home by someone who has found success.
Great advice! I recently made a one year anniversary video for my channel, and made fun of my first video bc my quality is so much better now. Absolutely, focus on getting it done when first starting!
Id Love to turn this vibe into a Podcast . its not so Techy, its no gamer .... its real Sam and Harris ... we like to see the personal and the projects this is very chill and im here for it
This came at the perfect time. Been putting off making any videos for months because I wanted to decide on a niche before starting. I didn't niche down that well on TikTok and I think that has hurt my engagement, wanted to do better for RUclips.
I love all these but it’s amazing how much RUclips’s who have made it constantly say things that go against others who have also made it lol It’s like, who to listen to. Which is why I believe the most important thing is to just start and take the advice and apply it as you go and when it seems suited
Honestly, I take all these RUclips advice videos with a grain of salt-actually, more like a bucket. The simple reality is that there isn't one reliable path to becoming successful on the site. It really is something you have to figure out as you go along.
Wishing you all the best as you start doing your own thing! Love your authenticity and the valuable advice you share. You’re talented and capable of flying solo, but let me know if you can use some design backup. Happy to help you succeed any way I can. -Russ
I respect you Sam, a learnt a lot from you. Sadly, what a LOT of youtubers fail to mention is they got known because a Friend who was already in the spotlight featured them. Today, it almost seems impossible unless you're dancing naked, or fake giving away things to buy your audience, mooching off a friend, or already have something big, or a team behind you.
That is just YOUR experience. A lot of people have actually found Harris through me. On a collaborative site like RUclips it's impossible not to. Saying "it almost seems impossible unless you're dancing naked, or fake giving away things to buy your audience, mooching off a friend, or already have something big, or a team behind you" are just excuses to not put the effort in 🤷🏻♂️
I have a question regarding the point you both talked about here & in other videos. Harris mentioned playing Warzone, for instance, but also doing that thing that only 20 people are doing, but it has a lot of potential. How does that help a channel in terms of the algorithm? I mean, hypothetically, if someone is doing fighting games & then decides to do Valorant things on the same channel, wouldn’t that be a bad move? That’s where I’m confused here.
Hi Sam I'm trying to become a RUclipsr I want to make videos on Call of Duty Warzone I have the ideas of what I want to do but I don't know how to edit. I've tried watching RUclips videos on editing but it doesn't help I need more one on one help where someone sits down with me on a video call or whatever and shows me. Do you have any suggestions?
Something I do is I break my big 1k sub goal into smaller goals 50 which I’m about to hit, 100, 250, 500, and then 1k and I’m not thinking about watch time until I’m on 500 subscribers
I understand that you have to try different things to find out what suits you in the end, but what if you have more talents? let's say I started a channel about reviewing Snack Subscription Boxes, the thing is I would also like to do some Cooking Videos/Shorts but I do also cut hair and would love to teach people ways to cut hair with basic tools in your house alongside reviewing some Hair Clippers/Scissors, I'm also interested in Streaming some Games now and then and do speak 4-5 Languages.. wouldn't I have to make about 3-4 channel on things that I'm interested in and want to show? would that hurt the other channels I would create? and what kind of confuses/scares me would be the logistics in income as a RUclipsr, which I don't have a clue what to do and who to find and what do I need just to get my income legally without any problems with the government.
Came to the comments as soon as I saw that. This video is so awesome and helpful, no amount of “Digarms” can thwart its usefulness. Love you guys and keep up the great work.
what do u do when that person has literally NEVER struggled?? like i have several streamer friends... one of them started getting absolutely massive engagement from the get go!... and the other friends have almost the exact same setup, game and content but only this one guy gets highlighted
4:15 so funny, stealing!? Be yourself don't steal something put yourself into other content creator that you steal from and imagine how would you feel. So stupid advice and unfollowed this channel just because of this. This advice is worst advice I ever seen. If you want to grow your channel be yourself and don't steal someone's personality or someone's content it will kill you and your channel in future even if you succeed.
You do know that's not my advice? And that there's really no reason to unfollow the channel because you disagree with someone's personal opinion. The word "stealing" in this context means, to get started, put on a persona. "If I'm struggling to start a video, how would Peter McKinnon or Casey Neistat do it" is what we mean. Take the parts of a creator's personality that you watch, and use it to fuel your own creative start. Overtime your own personality will shine through. As for ideas, there's no such thing as an original idea. Content creators get inspired by other creators and use similar ideas. "Great artists steal". It's a quote for a reason. It's how a lot of creators start. That's what he means by "stealing". Don't be so brash and criticise someone's advice, especially someone who's done this for a while (Harris).

Good Luck Sam! Been your fan for a long time now ;)
Can’t wait to see your future content flourish! ✨
Awh, but we waited all that time for you to come to Utah. We only get one video from it? :(
Best of luck to you bro! Your content is awesome and will continue to be awesome. Have a happy new year!
All the best Sam, you guys have been inspiring and I'm looking forward to everything that will come from you going forward. Happy New year! 🥂
I'm super excited to see what you have in store when you go off on your own!

This conversation was great!
Thanks so much, Sam! I appreciate your straightforward style and practical tips for RUclips.
Great tips as always. Thanks!
You sir are a treasure. Your definitely in my top 3 creators and I'm excited to see 2 videos a week for 2022!!!
This is done very well. Take a lot of this to heart. Keep posting videos and you'll do well!

This is a fantastic video Sam! I recently picked up a volunteer position as a community manager, and I am definitely sharing this video with my creators. So many good points between yourself and Harris! THANK YOU!
Merry Christmas Sam!
whooaaa..first of all, Mercury looks SICK. I'm looking forward to experimenting with this.
sooo you have a podcast?
Great advice! Appreciate it.

Incredible video my friend
Sam what shelf is that behind you? I also have some Star Wars Legos that I want to display 😄
This is top-notch content.

DIGARM
I KNOWWWWWWW
Didn't expect Harris lol.
Thumbs up for the vid but def for only the last note, "make yourself the subject". Something you don't hear as a tip like ever.
the ol yoink and twist!

Wow, didn't know that Harris is in the Spectrum.. You totally do not get that feeling from watching him on video.
Mercury seems great! However, if you have a relatively new YT channel, (from the update) you will get an error 400. Hope they fix this soon.
Might be worth hitting them up about this. Seems very odd. Hopefully it's sorted soon!
@@SamWoodhall yeah I sent a ticket and it's on RUclips s end because I got with streamelements and it seems that it's on RUclipss side

Not everyone is the same. You're comparing yourself again.
"Nobody's gonna watch your first 50 videos" Nobody really watched my first 10 or so, and my 11th or so was up until last week, my most viewed video 🙃
I was going to say I see Casey Neistat in him when he is messing with the camera.
Why the heck is with Harris's watch being upside down!? Bahhhhhh *blink*blink*
