The Surf City appeared to be dominant. I wish you would have continued to beat it up.

I have used the Ceramic Speed Shield once on my Limo SUV, applying it in the "maquiere's Ceramic Hybrid" method: - using a damp microfiber towel, sraying the damp towel, also spraying a little on a section of the SUV, and then applying the Ceramic spray in long one directional strokes. I believe that water AND a touch of even swipe "micro-pressure" , causes both even application, AND a much better bonding, The Surf City Ceramic is a real good value at PepBoys..and is lasting/Looking GREAT ! Also- I do wait 2 minutes before using a dry microfiber....lightly buff..to awesome shine. Thanks for the video.

I think either way you can't go wrong. The nice thing with opti-seal though is you only get a 10 percent reduction in protection with the drying aid type application. Makes for a faster detail for me and time is money. Hence why I have kept it on my arsenal. Also some anecdotal evidence, I have 2 clients that use me for monthly maintenance washes that both run their cars through a touchless wash once a week between seeing me and the optiseal is still very present when I get the cars for my wash.

Surf City clearly won. Even though it beaded at first, it still sheeted the water wayyy faster than opti seal.

Surf City Garage Nano Seal is a really nice peoduct, but it's pretty pricey.

  • @danlc95

Seems to be a draw. I've never been impressed with the water behavior of Opti-Seal, but this, and the Apex torture tests revealed very good durability.
Maybe it's my perception that a product that looks like straight water isn't going to do anything. It could also be that I took the "use sparingly" suggestion past what Optimum intended.
Recently, I've started experimenting with Opti-Seal and am applying it "wet". Once I'm not leaving a wet film behind, I add one spray, and so far it's been very good, and much better results than I had been getting.
I even applied Opti-Seal to my new lawn mower last week, and it kept a lot of the dust off. That was impressive!
    Great testing, Jimbo!

I think it would be awesome to pit Citrol citrus degreaser at $20 a can vs Purple Power Foaming Super Citrus Cleaner at around $4 a bottle at Walmart.
I would pick Surf City based on availability and price. Yes, you should call the dude at Surf City and get him on the podcast. On a side note Jimbo, that spacing crap gets worse with age (July will be 40 here).

Finally! Jimbo!!! Sheeting! Eff those little beads, it should still bead in an average “daily driver” situation, however, if you finish the wash, pull the nozzle off the hose and open a steady non-turbulent stream from a bare hose end and run it over the vehicle it should sheet off using surface tension and leave less water on the car. When I dry my customer’s and my own vehicles I don’t want to spend half of my time wringing my Microfiber drying towel out of excess water and diluting my drying aid. Shhhhhh. Let them believe the beads are good. Lol heheheh. Great content as always Big Dawg!

Surf City wins by appearance but a very close win. Per instructions the opti-seal is cost similar but concerned that doing it that thin would not survive your harsh chemicals

I think if you could sit the panel vertical and see how much water is left sticking on it, then it's a good measure of how the product performs. Great videos! Keep them coming!

You should use a uniform door panel instead of one side being dented which affects the way the water reacts. Love the videos though. Keep up the good work.

This is a door panel that dips down to the same elevation regardless. I plan on getting hood so that it's more symmetrical but we use what we have.. his demonstration is close enough..

Thanks for the great videos man, as a detailer myself it’s nice to see real world testing of the claims made by these products. Also, I’d love to see a comparison between different iron removers. I use Gtechniq W6, of all the iron-x products I’ve tried, this stuff is by far superior to them all and is safe for all exterior (paint and wheels). They also claim it does not affect waxes or coatings and is Ph neutral.

Most or all fallout removers are PH neutral in the bottle. The minute they are sprayed on and come into contact with embedded iron they become acidic with the purple reaction we all love to see.

A little bit late to the 🥳 party however clearly surf city garage won this competition. Looks like you won't be calling for your money back!! 🤣😂 I just wished more youtubers like yourself would do more surf city garage product testing against turtle wax, mcguiars, mothers and expensive products that claim to work better. Great video none the less, it gave me more reassurance to continue using surf city garage. Thank you.
