  • Area Diesel Service Inc has partnered up with Brian Block (bcbloc02) for the fuel injection portion of an engine swap on a vintage Hyster forklift.

    bcbloc02 provided a 6-cylinder, C-Series, 3000 Series Bosch Inline Pump Core to drive the 8.3L Cummins Engine going into his old 15000lb off-road forklift.
    Area Diesel Service is tasked with rebuilding the diesel fuel injection pump for the 8.3L Cummins engine swap, and changing internal assemblies and components to increase the horsepower of the pump.
    Gary Dahler, Area Diesel Service's most experienced Pump Technician, guides us through the highly-detailed process, a process from start to finish, that normally could take up to twelve hours to complete!
    Part 1 focuses on the assessment, clean up and disassembly of the 6-Cylinder Bosch Inline Pump.
    This is part-one of a four-part series to show the complete process - assessment, external clean up, disassembly, internal parts clean up, reassembly, calibration and testing of an injection pump core back to life as a rebuilt, remanufactured functional injection pump.
    #Remanufactured parts are much like original OEM parts, just that some of the components have lived a previous life.

    Looks like you got the right man on the job! He clearly knows his pumps. Been awhile since I have messed with one that old that had those annoying sealing washers between the delivery valves and plungers. With the pumps maxed we used to blow those things for past time on the pullers. No worries on this old girl though! Just good reliable respectable power. Not sled pulling the forklift! 🤣

    Talking about a master Bosh tech, Gary is the man he knows every step of the process amazing work.
    I am building a custom truck have a DT466 as power plan looking for a shop to rebuild my p3000 with 12mm plunger and barrels but i cant find the timing pin, i have injectors to be calibrated with, will be contacting this shop

    Do you think it’s possible to remove the governor cover (maybe thats the name) from the back of the pump and replace the pear-shaped gasket while the pump is in still in place on a truck?

    How does it advance its timing, under light load or high speed?
    Like old-fashioned petrol engines, using vacuum or centrifugal advance.
    I can't see any way to do it. The injector camshaft is fixed.

    Hi, I have a Volvo penta AQD 40 A Diesel marine engine 6 cylider 130 hp ,and on that engine I have Ve bosch pump .I have leakage on that pump I would like to remove and send to service, and later put back im place,but I am not completly sure how.I just unscrew the bolts ,pipes and match timming marks,Do I need to pay attention on something else or that it.Thanks

    I forget to ask. Is it possible to determine hp with manufacturer label on the pump? and also if we have two 908 P7100 pumps what makes difference in hp?

    Can you change a broken barrel assembly without changing the plunger?
