@@JT-dt3hf You can take either one off. If you take the one off that's closest to the back wheels the boot will stay attached to the female end thats closest to the front wheels. Vice versa the boot will stay attached to the male end that's closer to the back wheels which is actually the section that you will be pulling completely out. I took the clamp off that's closest to the back wheels.
@@BlakeBuildsATL lmaooo. Bro im the least bit upset. I just found it funny, the irony. Anywho thanks for the vid. Been thinking about doing this for a while now. Wasnt sure how i’d feel about fingering my trucks shaft tho. Thankfully you showed us the method
I thought that was a valid point for sure. Doesn't seem upset to me, just pointing out the obvious. Many people do this, mainly with upgrades in speed performance. Hey let's race, car is stock tons of power in this mustang, failed to mention the dyno tweak, airflow and header upgrade lol. All in good fun cheers
Is this the cause, it happens to mine 2013 f150, weird almost feels like a slight quick hesitation, just when you first get on the gas from a dead stop.

None of these driveshaft vids on YT actually show how to torque the flange bolts. I have sockets, extensions, flex joints, torque wrench etc but I can't seem to get anything on straight enough to apply 75 ft lbs of torque successfully. I end up using a combination wrench with a pipe for leverage. Does the truck need to be on a lift or ramps? And exactly what combination of tools get the bolts torqued properly?
I did this awhile ago, but don’t think I used any special tools or think it was particularly difficult, I would’ve put it in the video if I thought it wasn’t straight forward. And honestly, I probably just zipped them on with an impact. If you leave the carrier bearing for last, you could probably flop the ds out of the way and get a torque wrench straight on there
@@BlakeBuildsATL sorry. I probably wasn’t very clear. How hard would it be to misalign on the 1-piece? Had the dealer do this under warranty and now it vibrates in certain conditions. 65-70mph.
Just completed this today and it resolved the clunk when starting from a full stop. My 2016 f150 is smooth once again.
This does work. I however did the middle slip yoke and put regular axle grease and it drives like a new truck. Definitely worth it.
I’ll have to give that a shot! My truck drove nice after this, but giving that middle yoke a bit of grease couldn’t hurt!
What boot clamps did you use to replace the original clamps?
@@JT-dt3hf You only have to take one clamp off. I used a heavy duty zip tie to replace it.
@@justsayin7937 Which clamp comes off, towards the front or rear of the truck? Thanks!

Very good. Now to find the source of the typical 'clunk' when pulling away from a stop.
The other slip joint. There are two.
@@mal15102 : That's amazing information. Thank you!
Says he doesnt do performance stuff. Then points out performance brakes. Gotta love guys like that.
Uh, the stock brakes sucked. The rest of my channel is completely performance based.
Gotta love guys that will find anything to be upset about.

Do you know the torque specs?
@@bantizzle79 good and tight! I didn’t look up any torque spec.
Thanks for sharing! Just did this in my f250 and noticed a big improvement. Still driving smooth?
Yes! No issue since making this video.
Terrific thanks for sharing 👍🏼

My 2004 has this problem
What was recap on Raptor do you have more info
My Raptor feels weird when it’s shifting it’s exactly how you explained
Not a raptor, fx4 6.5ft bed.
You may not have a center slip joint like I do, but otherwise it should be the same
It’s deep!!! That’s what she said!!! Lol
Hi. I know this video is old. But do you have to re-line up the splines when putting the drive shaft back onto the transfer case?
Hi, yes, but it’s easy. Just be careful of the output seal and you’ll be good
@@BlakeBuildsATL is this true on the 1 pc driveshaft as well?
I have never seen a slip yoke style driveshaft that doesn’t have splines inside

@@zachthelen2223 it’s not really possible. If the splines aren’t lined up, it won’t slide into the transfer case/trans.
Nice thank u

This did not fix mine.
Try the middle slip joint then
I should call her
😂 hahaha
