This is why I lift everywhere when I'm not motivated - Wendy's parking lot, immediate snatch PR. Knees hurt? Walmart kitchen section, clean 1000 pounds. Run out of pre workout? Bed Bath and Beyond, best believe I'm front squatting a million.
actually though. been really unmotivated and unsatisfied with my time in the gym lately, whipped out my old barbell and bumper plates from covid lockdown and PRd my clean and jerk today. sometimes that’s all it takes
Lifetime is the best for "globo gym weightlifting". Not only do they have the solid Eleiko bars and platforms but, at many of their facilities, they have the narrower disks with the snugger-fitting full-metal inserts (yeah, still in lbs, but very "competition style" with a very "professional" feel and sound when dropped). Of course, they also have the hot tubs and saunas for post-workout recovery. . . which is useful regardless of whether or not one is on those "good ass drugs".
these videos are gold , so much good weightlifting content; Zack, sika strength, weightlifting house, gabriel sincrain. weightlifting content is in a great place right now
Y'all should do something with Brian Shaw or Martins Licis. It would be interesting to see them run through a workout or two with you and see how their power translates into olympic weightlifting.
started weightlifting in march/april 2022 at 18. Last competition a few days ago i power snatched 95kg (missed 100 because my technik is awful) and clean and jerked 125kg, missed the clean at 130. During last summer i didn't train well tho because i did heavy manual labour 8 hours a day and could only do very light training. My coach has let me do basically no cleans in the last 2 months before competition because my jerk was awful so i had to catch up. That work paid off because i was able to jerk 140kg from the rack. I hope to hit 105-110kg in the snatch, 145/150kg in the clean an jerk and 160kg jerk from the blocks by the end of the year, wish me luck 🤞
That will happen on any platform with a slightly uneven drop, but because these are so soft, the bar sinks in more and bounces back more, and that results in more sideways movement
Zack, I think having another person in your video has significantly improved my enjoyment. Listening to you and Dylan converse is better than watching you react to the internet rabbit holes. Although I must admit some of those were entertaining. I just enjoy this a lot more. Thanks
Lifetime member here. I feel like their Eleiko bars (or maybe it's the way their weights are made?) absolutely need to be collared up or you'll get that constant annoying amount of weight movement (maybe that contributed to the misses?). The partner lifting content is fantastic! If you ever find yourselves outside of Philly, hit me up and I'd be more than happy to guest you in.
They built one of these Lifetimes right next door….so of course I workout there…doing snatches, clean and jerk…there’s actually more than zero other lifters there.
With regards to novelty, Every time I visit my dad I hit the hammer strength shoulder machine for a piramid starting at 10lbs and go up by 10's until I max out. Last time I had 110lbs each arm at the top. It's fantastic, but takes up like half my time in the gym.
This setup, the rack and platform, is the main reason I go to the Lifetime near me. There are come cheaper gyms in the same area but their setups suck in comparison.
Coincidentally i did a tall snatch for the first time earlier this week. God they are hard, and i have good bottom position mobility. Its the speed under that is my problem.
@@stevesears8241 well people were asking Zack why he talks about charlatans while they accused the guy he had on as a charlatan. I haven't done my research so I'm not going to say anything but a lot of the things to talked about in that full-length podcast was really really interesting
lol yeah he sounded like a charlatan. “Calories don’t matter”, “my evidence is the tattoos of my name people get on their bodies”, and that spark plug garbage. Wish I could have heard the whole thing. Seemed like Zach didn’t buy all of it, but was trying to stay polite. Hopefully that’s true.
Accused might be too strong a word. I just found it ironic how closely he met the criteria of Zack’s own definition of a charlatan. Presents a problem, tells everyone they have been lied to about the solution, has sacred or forbidden knowledge that only they possess, in group vs out group (FIP vs CICO), so on and so forth. Big fan of ZTs channel, hopefully that isn’t the reason the videos came down. Guy works to hard to make content for all of us to enjoy to just take it down.
@@BrauschS01 Yeah. . . I listened to the segment posted on Zack's channel (I think) as well as large portions of the whole podcast posted on the ComeCorrect channel. That guy's approach and demeanor definitely aligned with a lot of the charlatan criteria. To Zack's credit, he kept a straight face and kept on just asking questions. Not to his credit, he didn't do a lot of really hard pressing. . . but I think that this just shows how hard it is for folks on other podcasts to call BS on their guests. Yanking the video down is probably a good compromise, but if another charlatan somehow manages to get onto ComeCorrect, I hope Zack just goes in for the kill. . . over time, I'd expect a good podcast host to learn when and how to do that.
i went to a different gym in order to get a nice lil change of pace and now im paying two memberships because my old gym actually just sucked el em aye oh
A drop snatch is a snatch balance with no leg drive. They're always recommended for beginners, which I'm not a fan of. A tall snatch is what you see him doing early in the video, standing at the hang, "getting tall" and pulling under with no leg drive.
That was mad from Torokhtiy! He's lighter than Klokov, isn't he? By the way, 125 kg c&j is quite a lot for a non-weightlifter. Outside of weightlifting, I doub't it that more than 0,0001% of grown-ass men can do that.
@@madworld109 Guess you're surrounded by athletes and live in some sport bubble. I am exercising at commercial gyms for more than 20 years, been in many places around the world and many different gyms in big cities, never seen even 1 single person pick up 125 kg from the floor and lift it overhead in any way. I taught myself to snatch and c&j (not very good technique, of course) and my best lifts are 90/110 kg. Never even seen anyone in commercial gym to lift 110 kg from the floor to overhead, as I said for more than 20 years around the world. Although I've seen people do 240 kg bench press, for example.
good ass drugs post olympics I wish I can take it without the side effects. BTW I also don't believe Dylan is natural when he said he can squat 670 high bar. Must be on a similar drug.
Yo Zack, PAP is NOT bro science. There was study done where heavy back squats increased vertical jump height for several minutes after the set. I know personally my first set of any heavy compound is harder than my second and subsequent lifts.
Back when I was an athlete (aka amateur weightlifter) and not a slow powerbuilder, that Torokhtiy complex was daily motivation. Still blows my mind.

In the UK we don't have lifetime but we do have JD gyms which have similarly sick eleiko equipment it's super cool
I've never olympic lifted, but I love watching your channel. Always impressive.
Try overhead squat with a broomstick :)
me neither, never even attempted an olympic lift but still watch this and enjoy it. Why? no clue
This is a similar comment I leave on most of his videos. It’s so interesting to me, but not interesting enough that I’ll ever do it 😂
I do my lifts on an old deadlift platform I built using Alan Thrall's How To guide to building one in my garage. Loud af.

It's nice to watch strong natty olympic lifters. Thank you for your content.
Only thing with those platforms is they have a really annoying issue where the bar bounces sideways when you drop it
I've always thought I'm dropping weight the wrong way because these are the only ones I've lifted on. I guess it's a platform issue
That will happen on any platform with a slightly uneven drop, but because these are so soft, the bar sinks in more and bounces back more, and that results in more sideways movement

i lift at a 24 hour fitness, the regulars have grown accustomed to me, we live in harmony
Same equipment they have at my Life Time! I do get a little self-conscious about making noise dropping the bar though.

You need to start listing your outro music, I mean I know it's Dark Souls 2 but all the other folks gotta know!
It shall be done from this day onwards. 🙏

Zach!!! Link the straps you use. I’ve thought about getting them. Please and thank you. I’ve learned so much from you
Sick content. Would you mind breaking down your mobility and warm up for snatching. 👍🏾☠️👍🏾☠️
I lift at a lifetime.it’s pricy but I have pool access and etc. bars are good and I can go to all of them across the country. 10/10 would recommend.

You gotta collab with Nate Cerwinske for the next mog session
Are you allowed to lift on the platforms at the Arnold without being a competitor?

‘Light weight on the bar’ heavier than my 1RM clean and jerk :))))
Is it just me or do your videos keep getting deleted?
Just the last one. I think it got some negative feedback due to being a controversial take on nutrition.
