Basically, it sounds like he made a duplicate of his original vocal layer in his DAW; and subsequently offset it by so many milliseconds, tuned it to a different pitch, and then added even more reverb. You could hear the reverb bursting at the seams as he probably had every track running some along with the master too! The results: Instant background singing with wide-studio sounding effect, BUT IT WAS SO MUCH MORE THAN AN OVERKILL! He should have fixed that wonderfully romantic microphone feedback that screamed at us! Reverb, BTW, is a great tool, but only when used correctly! You apply it AS NEEDED to a track, OR [usually sparingly] to the master channel to achieve a specific effect like a talk radio station sound in a podcast, or to add depth and some echo to certain instruments in a song, it could even work with vocals - just NOT like this! 😂
