As a Liverpool fan we have slowly been renovating Anfield it's taken 10 years to renovate half the stadium, no investment in the area, no investment in public transportation and personally I'm not all that amazed by the actual development
I'd say with a land that Manchester United have you are far better Just building a new stadium right by the old one. You keep your area with an updated stadium. You can always make new memories.

A new stadium with 100k capacity, however, a retractable roof is a must. This would allow multinational events to take place at the stadium, think concerts, Wrestlemania, Super Bowl.

A new stadium is required. If Manchester United wants to remain at the forefront of global football, and attract global investment, sponsorship and events then a modern state of the art stadium will do just that. Better facilities for fans, modern technology, 5G, cables, WiFi, screens, AI technology, security, media suites, boxes, changing, businesses, offices, sponsorship boxes, VIP suites, restaurants, press rooms etc. Build a stadium that it fit to keep up with demand and expectations for the next 50+ years.

    • @WingZeroCustom001
      @WingZeroCustom001 4 месяца назад +1

I want a new stadium too but I think you’re overestimating how popular a 120k seat stadium would be. Very few events would even be able to fill a stadium of that size and no one wants to perform in a half filled stadium. Only the biggest artists and one off events would even think of going there and the fact it’s in Manchester and not London - the capital where a lot more people live and they are therefore likely to earn more money there - also degrades the stadiums value as some event makers will choose Wembley over Manchester to host their event. Basically bigger is not always better for stadiums and just because you have a nice stadium, doesn’t always mean people will flock to use it, especially one up north when there are more famous and geographically beneficial locations.

As an American who loves Manchester United and American Baseball (Boston Red Sox), I'll give you a perspective from the Western side of the Atlantic. Fenway Park in Boston seats 45,000 people. It is over 100 years old. It was built when the average size of men was 5 feet 2 inches with and average weight of 125 pounds. Hence, by today's standards, the seats are small, tight fitting and there's no leg room. New England weather is like Scotland - cold, damp, and windy. going to a game is not a very pleasant experience compared to new stadiums such as Yankee Stadium or Busch Stadium in St. Louis or any of the new enclosed stadiums. Yes, there's that romantic notion of preserving Fenway as if it were the Sistine Chapel. It is about as romantic as driving an old Model T Ford. There was a time when the last company to built horse carriages built the best carriages you've ever seen. But would you rather ride in that with no protection from rain, wind and cold, or ride in a Rolls Royce? St. Louis Cardinals built a brand new modern stadium right next to their 100 year old relic, a few years back. The transition went smoothly. MU has as loyal a fan base as the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. MU could easily fill a new 100 seat stadium. That's a lot more revenue from every game than the current one. And looking into the future, MU DESERVES a newer modern stadium.

No government money should go into the new stadium that Manchester United build. Absolutely NONE.
If the club can't afford to build a new stadium themselves, then tough. They should have thought of this years ago, and put sufficient money aside for such a project.
If Old Trafford becomes too unsafe for matches to be played at, in say 5 years time - then they can go and play their home games at the Etihad.
What next, United asking City for money for their new stadium?!! lol

@@Inside064 .... there's nothing 'salty' about not wanting United to use government money.
I wouldn't want Chelsea (my club) to either. They're both mega rich EPL clubs ffs.
Government money is NOT meant to be given to football clubs.... Premier League, Championship or League 2. They should ALL be privately financed only. It's not where I want my taxes to go.
Government money should be spent on the NHS, Public Transport (that isn't private) - so TfL for example, other Public Services (Rubbish collections, Recycling, Street cleaning, tree pollarding etc). Also on Community initiatives, and on Environmental projects (both urban and rural).
Having it spent by football clubs in order to get new stadiums built, is an absolute joke.
If United haven't the money, then that's their fault- not the government's, nor mine. They can just share with City - seriously. If Old Trafford becomes so bad that United can't have their fans there safely, then they should approach City and beg to share their ground. Of course City will refuse. This is United's problem alone - no one else's.
Are you a United supporter? If you are, and you're a season ticket holder, then perhaps United should be asking all their fans to donate money from their own pockets, in order to finance a new stadium.
But NO government money should be given to United. NONE. Do you understand what I'm saying here??!!

So in the end spend as much as possible make it as big as possible and and amenities that will revolutionize stadiums and keep you ahead in the future don't just add a smart screen around the stadium and call it a day.

@@Mohammed5i forget an open top stadium in England. It's never going to happen. United doesn't need any gimmicks for a new stadium. It needs one that looks good, has the largest capacity and is built to last for a very long time. That's all.

Such a shame the glazers let it rot to its core, looks great on TV (Apart from the leaks lol) but until you are sat in it, or getting drinks making your way to your seat, its disgustingly bad for such a high profile, world renowned football club. Its also literally so cramped, I'm 6ft 2, its like being sat on a low budget airplane seat

I would seriously object to my taxes being used to help fund any new developments. Ratcliffe is a multi billionaire and responsible for football operations so he should either cough up the cash himself or ask the actual owners to cover it. The state of the ground has been a standing joke for a long time and cannot have come as a surprise.

It would have to be a new stadium. Where would they play if they renovated? I can't imagine City allowing them to play in the Etihad, unless United paid a large amount to do so. The nearest football stadium of decent capacity is the Bolton stadium, there are others but they would be too small.
The biggest issue with sharing a stadium is the amount of games that teams play, trying to work both schedules together would be impossible.
The other possible option is to use the Old Trafford cricket ground but I'm not sure if that is even possible.
