architecturally, I don't understand they designed and built the stadium with an oval shape in the first place.. that severely reduced the potential capacity by not filling up the corners.. now, to increase the current capacity to 80k, I think most of the architects would just correct this anomaly by rebuilding the upper stand corners to all be at the same height and will end up with a squarish design like most other stadiums.. it's going to be cheaper and will create a lot of new indoor space on all for corners to have new restaurants, etc.

The Nou Camp is bigger, simply more stylish, while it still looks like a stadium. They've rebuilt more of the ground while keeping its style and vibe, whereas at the Bernabeu they've done facade works to dramatically change the vibe, which is a bit too polarising, even though I don't dislike it at all.

Spain is getting alot of stadiums mordernized. For the 2030 WC. Atletico Mallorca and Bilbao recently did theirs and so did Real Sociedad in 2019. Betis, Sevilla, Valencia, Zaragoza, Malaga, Deportivo, Celta Vigo, Las Palmas, Getafe and even La Cartuja Sevilla's olympic stadium are all getting expansions and renovations.

Dont think it matters which is best both beautiful and I’m a Madrid fan. What matters is that these two giants remain giants for the rest of the world to drool over. Setting standards on the pitch and outside. Some of the best football and footballers to grace and will grace both stadiums for years to come. Kudos to both.

Actually the Kop is named after the battle of the Spion Kop, which occurred during the Boer War and Kop is the Boer word for hill. During that battle, many Scousers lost their lives and the stand was named in their honour. Many other UK grounds have a "Kop" from this period, but it's not a UK colloquial name.
