Nice work. I wasn't aware you can bring trim rubber like that back to life besides getting an overpriced bottle of some mystery chemical/black paint in the cleaning aisle of your local parts store to make it look nice for a season. Kudos to you for your hard work you put in and keeping that glass out of the landfill and on someone's prized ride while looking like new too. Thanks for sharing your process.

Thanks!! Coming from the body shop world I just happened to take a class put on by SEM and learned a lot. Prior to that I had seen it done but wasn’t sure what materials to use.

@@mikemartinez2793 right now I won’t be able to take any sets. As we get into colder weather the material takes longer to setup.

This is a very nice vid. Comprehensive and easy to follow. How to you preserve or replicate the indented line that runs through the molding when laying your filler? Quite often the rot extends into it. Seems like a lot of people attempting this resto are just filling it in and calling it good.

If the line is defined enough, I’ll use a skim coat of filler in it to fill in pin holes or rough spots. I just make sure to keep the groove clean with 220 or 320 grit paper. I gave this customer the option to keep them but if they’re too far gone to save I fill them with the 3M filler. Thanks for watching!!

I’m in north central Kentucky. I will need to see photos before I can quote a price. As of now I’m at a 5-6 week turnaround, again depending upon condition. Thanks for watching!!
