  • Jigger and Self Hooking Pole Rigs | Andy May | Rig Of The Month
    This month Andy takes a look at the infamous Jigger Rig and self hooking rigs. Although frowned upon by some and banned at certain venues, where allowed it is vital to have these in your armoury if you want to compete.

    Love to see a video from monk hall, with you versus Jamie. Both fishing your own styles of Rig of the month 💪💪👍👏😎 summer is on for next week, if weather presenters are to be believed. So fish should feed shallow IMHO

    Very informative Andy and your home made float looks the business shame most fisheries don't allow an over shotted rig and insist on using floats ☹

    Hello Andy, could I respectfully point out that the jigger came about due to the ruling of having to use a float and jigging a bristle type float was a pain in the bum hence the floating in line jigger. The advantage of the jigger is that the line is mostly under tension, more shot more tension even when lowering as you lower the pole not letting the line free fall. When pellet fishing 90% of the bites come on the sharp jig up and they still try taking your shot.

      Also thinner line and tiny hooks works wonders when they become shy.

      This is really helpful, thanks! Both the video and your comment. Jigger fishing is getting more popular in the Netherlands and Belgium, but technically I do not see a strict need for a float in the setup, even though it could help to keep the line under tension as you explain... also the amount of lead on the line does not seem related to the carrying capacity of the float... Any thoughts on this? Thanks a lot for linking the technical setup to ruling!

    Larford has a float rule and my dad had a matchstick on as a float the one day (he loved experimenting) and the bailiff gave him a bollocking and said it wasn't a float. It really pissed my dad off and he swore he'd never go back again. Can anyone else see what the issue was because he had an indicator on his line. If they were on sale in the shops I suppose he would have been ok. This is why I won't fish commercials anymore, there are far too many rules for my liking.

      Ivan Marks used to use them and explained that you have three colours...red, blue and black (after you have struck one on the matchbox!)...if he could use them, then anyone should be allowed! lol

    When would you use the jigger? April???

    • @WinningWays
      @WinningWays  2 года назад +1

      Same as any shallow fishing method. Whenever they want to feed up in the water, which depending on weather could be any time from March to October. Even later in some cases.

    Why do use hooklengths if your not using any floats on the straight through 🤔

    • @WinningWays
      @WinningWays  3 года назад +4

      Versatility, if you want to swap from bands to straight hooks or go a bit lighter you can do. Or swap hooks if they go blunt etc. Without having to set up a full rig each time.

    Could you not Just use a jigger with no stop above if you have to use a float ????🤔
