Looks good, from morning till sundown free ac. Could keep the bedroom cool during the night. Put it on icecold and by the time u go to bed its cool. Want one of these
How's the unit running now? I have the *Zamna Climate* AC⚡DC version here in Jamaica 🇯🇲 for about 4 months now and it has been working quite well. I occasionally use 340W×4 Panasonic panels to provide power to the 12000btu unit that needs 930W to operate.
Hey, stumbled onto this solar AC/DC unit recently (company called Soar AC/DC by ~Rob Miravet, think is the same Superen ~Rob) and was looking it up and found your video. Is it still running well, and have you had any issues?
So you have no battery storage for it? It's running straight off the solar? Why are you running it at 16deg? That would make it work hard, usually it is comfortable to run around 21deg
I mean, why not? Unless you were getting uncomfortably cold, I can't see a reason not to; his panels aren't connected to anything else so if he were to pull less current than he's generating it's for nothing.
Cheers Ty, I live up in the tropics and because we are such a small town they're limiting the solar we can put up grid connected. The aim is to go off grid one day so time to start saving for solar ac for when the conventional ones die. Thanks for your video really helpful! Can you have multiple AC compressors hooked up to a single solar array?
Thanks ty, I love the video, I'm thinking on getting something like this for my home. Please how many batteries needed to run the AC, I can see you have 8 panels but like to know about the batteries. Thanks
There’s a slightly different model that runs off 48v and is a better fit if you want to use batteries directly. The model in this video uses AC from an inverter which is obviously powered by batteries when the solar is insufficient. In theory, the advantage of the DC battery only system is not having to provide a whole separate bank of solar panels. You would however require probably double the battery capacity. So the hybrid model in this video is a great option.
I´ve been looking for ages and yours is the only true sun-powered system I´ve seen. But will it turn on during a power cut using just the solar. Others have said starting it is an issue because of the amount of power drawn, once it is going, there is no problem. Also, will it run the heat function a lot of air conditioners have incorporated?
So what does it do during the winter when you don 't need it? Maybe plug those panels into a solar freezer in the winter or something? Just started looking into this so Im clueless.
Yes so on the unit it’s self it lights up green during the day when it running off solar, then when there not enough solar it will light up the red lights they mean generator or grid power.
Hey mate, I just thought I would check with you 4-5 years later how the Superen AC DC has been holding up. Any issue? Still happy with it? thanks for your feedback!
Hi mate, just wanting to know how the SUPEREN solar ac/dc has held up? I’m about to buy one for our off grid place mate looking for a review cheers legend
Hello Ty, we’ve been off grid in Qld for 7 years now but haven’t put in an air con system yet. These have always sparked my interest. One question though. When it switches over to your main 240v battery system at night, How many KWs will you use overnight until the next morning ? Do you change the temp setting or run it on ‘dry’ mode ?… we have 16KW batteries (Lithium) and concerned our system would drain too much overnight… Cheers
Hi, over night it all depends what settings you have it on. Ac units on 18 degrees can use like 5000wh or so over 8 hours in my experience. I don’t run it at night I just run it all day for free cooling the house, once sun goes down the house stays cool to sleep.
Oahu, N. Shore (big waves) Hawaii and near the beach with local power (age 62) Sun light say 12 hours a day and open area is my backyard, Off grid ground mount Thinking solar for Split A/C, Water Heater and W/D on Sundays Therefore Solar panels, Electric box for 20 amp 110v and 40 amp 240v A/C and water heater can shut- off when sun goes down Wondering what i will require besides panels-ground mount and electric box with breakers RR
That system would be perfect for my off grid house. I was looking at getting mains power purely for an AC. This maybe another alternative. No one has asked but how much was the 5kw unit to buy and what was full install amount. Their website doesn’t put up prices. I under stand all installs are different but would love to know what yours was. I’m on the Gold Coast so I’m not totally isolated. Cheers.
G'day Roughneck. Not sure if this will help, but our place runs on solar power only and we had a 48v aircon system installed to try to keep cool. What we found was the cost of the install is pretty high initially ($8000 which covered the cost of panels, the unit itself and running 48v wiring to the system's locale and cost of labour. We live near Somerset Dam. I suppose the cost could have been associated with the fact that we were perhaps one of the first off the rank so to speak to have a domestic one installed and to be one of the first in so to speak is always likely to cost more. Perhaps they are cheaper to install these days..... Pros and Cons - Pros: The system worked fine for about 18 months. Cons: After 18 months the the airflow deflector of the unit inside the house failed. Not such a big problem overall, but annoying all the same. Now the outside unit has failed and can't get the system to cool down at all. Don't know what the problem is, but I suspect it requires re-gassing or the compressor has failed. What else to expect from having been made in China I guess. Now comes the really difficult part..... I can't seem to locate anyone who will have anything to do with even looking at it to determine the system's problem; part of the reason I came looking for answers on this site. My advice.....be careful to get a good quality unit and make certain you get some good advice on where to seek out a reputable repair service if required, because I feel our own problems are just beginning in this regard.
@@warrenharvey4420 I actually installed one last week. A 5kw. It’s from a company called Solar Green in Brisbane . It’s a DEYE named unit with a 5 years warranty. It’s keeps my little place like a fridge. 21 all day when it’s 35+ outside. Runs directly from 8 panels or you can connect to a 240v10amp switch which only kicks in when needed. So mine only draws AC power after 5pm. I hooked up 240v from some very long extension leads from my power box. 😎 Mine was $4900 installed. Panels and unit. Does anyone know who to contact in the Brisbane Valley area when these aircon systems require servicing or repairs? I had a 48v one installed about 3 years ago and it no longer cools. Trying to find anyone interested enough to come out and take a look at it has so far proved impossible.

However, having spent a considerable amount of money already on installing the 48v original system a few short years ago, I'm concerned that I could just be throwing money away if all that's required is to recharge the gas in the 48v original!
