    You guys are right, I should have bashed my goodman AC's more. Only reason I use them is because they were free. They are garbage, and seer 13 is awful. The fact that my window ac is more efficient is just pathetic. I totally agree.
    And there are some higher seer rating ac units out there, but they cost a lot of money. If you guys have better recommendations, let me know. The units I bought are what I found to be "best of the best", but I would love to be proven wrong.
    I also did not plan on buying such a large house. But it was the only one for sale with an insulated workshop. I don't even use the house for anything.

      bottom line is cost vs useage. its more costly for him to replace the old ac units but if he dont' use them to much. no problem. he said really clear that his window unit cooled most of his house. wow you guys give a man a break.

      @@bobham919 time's up foLK's on the billion dollar prize-- I figured it out myself! Microsoft and the other dual phase change cooling companies have used the nanotech in their submerged system that can apply to OUR body.
      You see the problem with a personal refrigerant system for your clothing that is phase change is trivial As is the Microsoft etc solution to use gravity to move the bubbles but the bubbles when it comes to liquid nitrogen don't just move themselves to the top of the huge CPU container in the case of our bodies it would just be the highest point in our body where the bubbles would gather and we would essentially pop them. The patents should not be enforceable on CPU etc as in These 700 watt EMITTERS LOL of heat you would normally have to engineer a complicated (CRYPTO ETC.)circulation system to move your chilled --water__ _over_.
      (That's because the water would not boil that's because boiling water causes problems like pitting of steel propellers. A propeller that has too much horsepower for its size will reduce the pressure of the water that it's pushing so much that the water will boil and that boiling water then pits the propeller that's why some ships have multiple propellers instead of one big one to avoid boiling the water. You're still going to be heating and cooling the water as you increase its pressure and of course as any wing works you create a vacuum side and that's what moves you forward it's not just that you're pushing on the water but then the vacuum in front of the propeller is an issue. But it's not an issue for) these 700 watt CPUs in the data centers. By using not liquid air which would (NOT) waste energy over cooling the CPUs but by using the 120° f you are never going to have any liquid that boils in 120 be touching the CPU that's because the liquid that's below 120 is so heavy the moment it gets pushed( RECOVERING ENERGY!!) away by the chip becoming hotter than 120 the liquid above it falls into that space essentially and the heavier molecules of that refrigerant that have been separated from each other and I no longer touching get pushed to the surface. In other words the vapor volume is very small compared to the liquid volume. And then in that small space you have your other pipes with the boiling refrigerant that boils below the temperature that the 123 refrigerant boiling condenses at. So the billion dollar question is what temperature does the personal human being refrigerant boil at and the answer is just below the body temperature. If you run hoses another words with that liquid in them under your clothing instead of being very warm under there like nearly body temperature it will be however many degrees below body temperature that liquid boils all the time and that those gases will flow up the tubes to the top like to the back of your neck where you then using a thermal electric panel like in the Sony personal air conditioner condense the liquid and pump it back down to your feet. It's these bubbles that are moving heavy refrigerant molecules. That's the brilliance of the phase change refrigeration is that the bubbles are heavier molecules but they take up more space so they go up and then the energy is removed so they fall back down. That's how you make your personal body some are under where work by having the nano tubes filled with that refrigerant that boils it the proper temperature which is between 60 and 90° depending upon how much of your clothing is going to be lined with that. It's really worth much more than a billion but now I get to keep even the first million all for myself LOL. No seriously copy left this is belongs to everybody saving us civilian because I don't have to pay anybody at the billion now and I don't have a billion I would have to charge but now it's freely licensable just say from Wells channel copy left it 2021. There are lots of safe just under body temperature fluids that we can but under our clothing so our clothing is always cool. You can even put dry ice in the little thing in your that could wherever on your head under your hard hat you can just put a few ounces of dry ice and that liquid vapor will be condensed when it gets to the dry ice and not follow a comfortable temperature because the dry ice is heavily insulated not heavy as a massive but just you control you tune it a reason you use dry ice if not liquid nitrogen is because of its density. Instead of dollars of electricity every hour many days if not hours a building filled with people can slash it by 99 plus percent not 86. It's just a question of the Summer underwear not evaporating sweat but recirculating the proper liquid in the fabric. The little tubes woven into the underwear a little tubes woven into the sock that's all you need. Smart socks and this air conditioning nonsense with the top of the sock having the little pocket for the dry ice a couple ounces maybe all you need to run down the Grand Canyon and back up on the hottest day so you don't have to carry 50 gallons of water on your mule and hike as slow as a mule you can run that s***
      P.S.
      When you use words like i n o b v i o u s however legally correct in obvious might be to say that that's the requirement for a patent unless you're a Microsoft or something it's difficult to get dictated and I have taken a long time to try to fix it and ended up just deleting everything I said on this point and then I have gone back in and adequately put something in. The definition of obvious would be if you hire an engineer will they figure it out. I believe an engineer hired by the people to give them self a design for personal cooling like in the case of our friend here for this channel who's often at home alone he doesn't need even to run that window air conditioner except for the time it would take to catch up should he need to be in the house what he needs is instant personal cooling especially if it makes them feel cool regardless of the temperature that he's in and that's what a phase change system in the shoes alone will do. You have to experience it to believe it which is why we have the cool tube in the Philippines. Many of us who have been to the Middle East on the helicopter gunships have experienced the magic of wearing a vest with chilled water circulating in it but that requires a pump and the water has to move fast. Water doesn't change phase when it warms up so you have to move it but the brilliance of using a low temperature boiling liquid for the body is that gravity takes care of the problem as far as Microsoft goes they have failed to figure out that they don't need to use any energy not only for the cooling but all the energy they use for the CPU can be converted back to electricity so if Microsoft can't figure it out am I figuring it out suggest that it's not obvious right? I'm waving the licensing fees on this as long as it's not used to destroy the planet which means non-electrical use is free. Which means that after you use the liquid nitrogen to remove all of the work from the from the otherwise overheating graphics CPUs for the cloud computing you then have to spin a turbine with that high pressure nitrogen to not just recondense it but the Greek condensed much more so that for every billion Watts powering CPUs you get many billions of watts of liquid nitrogen. That's because you power the electricity for the CPU with geothermal boiling liquid nitrogen. You're not limited to the hot CPUs you station your server farms on the top of the 6 Plus mile deep energy mines. The CPU needs electricity but your customers need liquid nitrogen so you just use a tiny fraction of your liquid nitrogen production from the geothermal unexhaustible absolutely green already drilled and being abused to extract copper locations. This is child's Play Greta is right we just need the public to say we want that and in democracies that is what we get. By selling the liquid nitrogen to China they won't burn the coal. They'll try to kill me of course to prevent me from making their huge investment in solar panel plants a huge loss but some of them believe in the mission not just trying to send us the smallpox blankets or whatever in an effort to get on top of the abuse of ride. Enough of this heroine smallpox covid nonsense it's time for all of us to enjoy the life of art and leisure just like the channel owner has enjoyed even before he had these homes.

      There has been research using compressed carbon dioxide tO cool coAl miners-- I kid you not. They 'give' them a tank of compressed carbon dioxide and it is perfused under their clothing to increase their productivity by preventing them from overheating you can do that with firefighters as well who routinely have to be treated for heat stress because the fire hose doesn't have a little tiny hole on the side to recirculate some water through the firefighter holding it so that they don't have to go out and sit with the ice water vests every 20 minutes. But that research is inapplicable because carbon dioxide is too expensive to condense in a personal system. Liquid nitrogen is cheaper than carbon dioxide for several reasons. Now we know how we boil it we boil it with the vapor of the below body temperature boiling refrigerant solution that pumps itself that's the brilliance of it it pumps itself the body heat is what moves the molecule to where the tiny tank of liquid nitrogen is. The liquid nitrogen is then vented as vapor nitrogen having only cooled the vapor enough to liquefy it. Just below it Boiling temperature LOL. we should be able to produce enough of these within a few months to get the icebergs refreezing very quickly within a couple years. I want to thank everybody for helping me with this problem now Greta can go to college etc.

      I could use some help I'm trying to go completely solar for my 12 by 32 cabin in Arizona but I am clueless on where to even begin I've got 3 200 watt panels and one 100 watt two inverters two charge controllers and am ordering a 300 ah lithium battery to hold the power can I run an AC off this set up

      but I do wonder about the "Bedroom" window AC unit (or one like it) if it could be a solution to Solar cool the Trailer, I only ask because I will be building a shop/shed (120 sq ft) that I may be doing some bench work in that may not be insulated as much as I would like. yes it will have curtains as well but not those awful ones he has ! lol (jk)

      Oh by the way Microsoft is smoking crack thinking that drastically reducing the amount of power it takes to waste the energy used to operate the CPUs as progress. In other words they think that above 100% waste is green. They think that 120° is where you want your CPUs to be Fahrenheit. Everybody knows the CPUs are happier in liquid atmospheric pressure nitrogen. They're even happier at higher pressures. The CPUs can handle drastic swings and pressure as well. You don't have to vary the pressure but for a thought experiment you can just put all of those same CPUs that can be submerged in the 120° custom engineered refrigerant that cost a lot of money to make of course compared to liquid nitrogen. Microsoft has the ability to buy the turbines that general Electric is making for a British Columbia to make it cheaper to burn coal to produce electricity by storing the electricity produced from CoAl because it's CoAl power plants that need the help with the intermittency of the demand not solar or ESPECIALLY wind. WinD for example was pretty much 24 hours but CoAl has always had tremendous losses due to the intermentency. . .So general Electric makes 5 million wATT liquid nitrogen turbines right now they put them on containers which IS the drop in replacement for a 🚂 of course!
      *But* general Electric makes a tremendous amount of money making diesel electric locomotives; they don't 'want' to make LIQUID nitrogen direct drive zero emission ERGOwind(ETC.) powered locomotives.
      Is it Bill Gates and Ronald Reagan's legacy here that matters or is it the PLANET?
      Put another way here is what I just texted my stepson. None of this is copy-left! "All rights reserved 2010-2021 CITYOPTIONAL-ENTERPRISES:
      "Oh the Microsoft way of cooling the data farms is, of course, [COLLEGE DROPOUT "GATESYZUCKY"] idiotic.] They're using a refrigerant that boils at 120° instead of liquid nitrogen. They're doing this because they trying to save energy getting __rid__ of the heat from the CPUs. They think that [ENTIRELY] wasting the __energy__ is "okay""versus a new industry on top of a new industry I have spoken about in recent days combined cooling and power but really the issue is combined computing and power. The resistive load that computing represents is just the boiler for the power generation. Unlike typical combined heat to power applications it is in the cooling of the CPUs that the heating of the coolant occurs. This heating however generates work not just moving the bubbles from the bottom CPU to the top vapor cap for condensation but work capable of producing 100% electricity nearly from the electrical input. It's like a one-step liquid air battery except besides the extremely low round trip efficiency you are doing all of the computing that the electricity could manage and even more of course because your cyrogenic meaning you can afford far more efficient new CPUs that can be clocked at much higher speeds because they are only a few atoms across in their wiring they're etching whatever you want to call it and because you are at superconducting temperatures there is far less heat to remove but because the density is there and we're talking about the cloud you have just done a lot more than building nuclear power plants to operate your crypto mining could possibly do and we are building nuclear power plants because of this error and not understanding that computing loads are resistive loads and instead of wasting money increasing the frequency of the mosfets by using diamond ingots even which is what the aluminum seller guy is up to to lick his wounds from the Chinese hiring a replacement CEO to disclose all the intellectual property his friends risked all their money even though they got it back they didn't risk it all to get it back they could have left it in the bank if they just wanted to hold on to it they risk the doll to create the intellectual property to make solar lightweight super cheap. The indestructible solar panels that this channel has been promoting are being priced at dollars a lot when many years ago like a decade ago a dollar a lot with the goal and then it was reached by the incumbent operators which allowed the Chinese to sneak the replacement CEO in and then the guys of hiring new equipment makers disclose all of the intellectual property which crossed crashed the company in Oregon and had them claiming that all the acid on site is why they had to wait until 2 years ago to give away all the s*** . The reason they had to wait until 2 years ago is because they hope that Trump would be impeached and that would be would be able to yank back their IP and put the Chinese glass inefficient silicon panel makers out of business. But it took too long to get rid of trump and now the Chinese people are taking all of our capital)just reducing the amount of energy that you need to waste it is progress. They're f****** stupid as hell man all they have to do is put the 700 watt CPUs in a container and fill it with the liquid nitrogen then boil the liquid nitrogen producing 5 million watts of turbine using the off-the-shelf one from general Electric. They can make more liquid nitrogen with that turbine or they can make 5 million watts of electricity the power of their data form the suit the computation doesn't consume the electricity. It's not like mechanical work! Right now CPUs are 100% inefficient none of the energy is used to produce more electricity after it is turned into heat by the CPU! Can you imagine that's like 10 billion dollars right there."the 10 Billion++ value of this intellectual property is exclusive to the viewers for the climate emergency the licensing terms are you may not sell this for beyond 10% of cost. My fee is 50% but is waived as long as it isn't used to facilitate the burning of fossil fuels.

      @@monteself6826 there are a lot of vehicular Air handlers dirt cheap now on eBay. I believe you can hack the Mitsubishi for 175 delivery to do the 12,000 BTU through those units which are designed to handle up to 20,000 BTU. When your contractor gives you a hard time about mismatching different size units you have to remind them that the history of high seer is when people would take a 5-ton indoor unit and match it up with a 3-ton or even smaller outdoor unit. That's the ratio that works. The larger the evaporative coils the less energy it takes to grab heat with them. You also want to install solenoid controlled misting near the condenser coils. Finally although I said you want to have one compressor per house what I actually meant is one condenser coil to maximize the heat radiation. Once you understand the physics and it's not requiring a physicist it's just the way this works more surface area the more efficient. You want the air going into the outdoor unit to be as humid as possible. Hot humid air will give you far more cooling than dry cool air because dry cool air has no ability to absorb heat. It's the moisture in the air that allows you to dump the heat from your house into it. That's why he pumps don't work in the winter because below freezing you have to move an extraordinary amount of air to get heat out of it because dry air is just an insulator it has almost no heat. That's the physics just a couple small facts. If you can figure out a way of remembering them you should be able to navigate yourself to a super efficient unit.
      Specifically you want to buy a unit that's capable of far more cooling than you ever use even though that might be counterintuitive and the reason it's not counterintuitive because you want to have the electronically controlled motors not merely multiple speeds.
      So you see although you can usually guess from the vintage and the seer rating whether it's a infinitely variable speed compressor or a single speed or just the old school different windings for different speeds so two or three speeds at most and usually that's just two coils where you use one or the other and then both of them. The electric utility industry doesn't care about how little you pay them to the country. So they fought tooth and nail against multi-speed units and managed to keep them a high profit item. The explanation for why electric utilities don't want the unit that cost You less to operate is because it uses most of its electricity when it's operating at least efficiently. That's when the electricity that it's using is also the least profitable for the electric utility. That's why they want you to swap your 5 ton unit for three and a half ton unit and they incentivize contractors to do that. The three and a half ton unit with a single speed will cause you to let it run 24 hours a day but there's no way it can cool your house quickly when you come home. That can triple them out of electricity that you use. Remember when the Sun goes down you don't have much heat coming into your house but you need to be able to get the humidity out and that requires that you have very cold coils. That means that the blower requires a plugged filter. Yes a plugged dirty filter well dry in the air far better then a clear path through the indoor coils because you will start getting cold quickly in that circumstance and then you will be uncomfortable the moment the wind stops blowing because it will be muggy and starting the compressor on and off waste tremendous amounts of electricity obviously because you're letting all of the compressed refrigerant expand every time it goes off. Contractors talk about how there's a certain number of times that the compressor can start but if you run it at a low speed it will never lose compression. Some might argue it's like a lithium ion battery that way but actually lithium-ion batteries thrive when they get dirty charging power that's the premise of one of the companies that believes that can drastically increase the speed of charging by detecting when the charging becomes pathological. They do that using impedance signature but please don't say that I have endorsed that they are not a scam or to the contrary. They made a power bank about 10 years ago to demonstrate their high-speed charging but I have not been able to find any of them or find out if they manage to prolong the life of that small power bank.
      Very few people who have deep understanding of physics are involved in the heating ventilation and cooling industry it has a business plan which is the building obsolescence because they get the cell new units ridiculously often including at a local CVS where it was just built and as a contractor with a crane putting new package units on like after just a couple years. That's the general greenwashing industry where they show you the numbers about how by throwing away the stuff you bought just bought you can save money. Buy it right the first time. You can see that in district heat pumps where you can't find a disc heat pump efficiency solution you have to custom engineer it. That's the argument behind the Rocky mountain institute which is that by putting a million dollars up you can get people who are not loyal to the incumbent predatory companies like carrier and everybody else including Mitsubishi. The problem with their approach however is that they're working for the electric power industry not actually for the people. Electric power industry can provide cooling that isn't as efficient as all get up and they have until now. But who would care what kind of fuel they get at their house electric power industry has been bribing housing developers to get rid of the gas lines and nobody notices but gas provides light light that you can grow your own family's groceries from using bloom fuel cells and minor modifications to produce not electricity but light. If you bought a house that was all electric I'm sorry I offer you my condolences. Methane is like tap water. If you're in the first world you have running water. That means that you have several kinds of water gray water spring Water etc like the native Americans do. It also means you don't just have electricity that's a poverty. Using electricity to operate lighting is disastrous. The era of solid state lighting and fuel cells means that electric lights is obsolete. Don't make it complicated the new era of gas lighting has appeared and it is for the produce indoors. It releases plant food water and incredible amounts of light all without having to pay for copper etc wiring etc etc. It's far more cost-effective than sunlight pipes because obviously your plants can get light when the sun isn't available. Such quantities of light to have an Arizona Sun in a Michigan winter in your living room goes beyond having fresh spinach arugula apricots. It has nothing to do with marijuana. It has to do with not hauling fruits and vegetables around the world because people want to eat it where they don't have bright Sun. That's why you have a gas utility so that you can grow your own spinach etc in your own home even if you're in Alaska going months without sunlight. It's actually far more important technologically than solar electric panels are for off grid and that means where you don't have even gas and by gass I mean MEthAnE or hydrogen. Got it?

    I'm in Elko and I switched to a swamp cooler for my RV, it uses 80watts compared to my 600w AC and it does a better job for me at least and with the extra power Im making I bought a big freezer to use up the extra power.       This is WAY more important than you would believe. I work with my dad (who is an electrician) and we had to repair a generator last week because the lady owner of the farm made a mistake (she hasn´t installed a transfer switch yet) and fried a key component of the power generator. My father repaired it, charged good money for a day of labor, but it could easily have been like in the two or three thousands.

    I really like your choice in Mini-Split units. Both Mr Cool and Pioneer come out of the same factory. We have a couple Pioneer units up near Mt Charleston NV cooling a radio com-site and they have not missed a beat in the years they've been up there. We installed them and turned them on.     I have a log cabin. In the summer, to control temperatures in Montana, I make sure that sun is kept out of the cabin (using tarps) and keeping windows closed during the day. in the evening and at night the tarps are lifted, the windows opened. So, the result, the logs are heat batteries and do not absorb less heat and the cabin stays below 70F in the day and only goes to about 65 at night. Perfect for me. in the winter I do need heat but I let the logs heat up from stove/propane fires and some sun. Very efficient and low power overall.

    I have a DIY RV and use the Midea 8k btu as the ac for the van. It is very insulated and have a 200AH battery that can run the ac all night, 800w of solar and it is charged up for the next day. The AC is awesome. love the channel

    I have a similar single inefficient exhaust pipe a/c unit installed in my garage. After a few days of it pulling in musty air from all the air gaps in the walls and attic space, I made an adapter to covert it to a dual pipe (intake and exhaust) setup. It’s not fancy by any means but I used high density block of shipping foam and cut to size around the intake vent opening on the back of the a/c unit. Put a 5” hole in one side of the foam and used the left over exhaust duct (plus a new hole in my wall) for the intake. Works great and easily half the price of a dual pipe setup new ( if you can find one locally)

    I got one of those portable A/C units at a thrift store for a steal, and built a sealed return air box around the air intake area, and added a flex duct to the outside making it as efficient as a window unit. I use it with my generator when a hurricane knocks out the power grid, I am actually getting the BTUs it claims.

      Unisource electric serves a motel that is right up against their substation. The evaporator coil on the room units is in a box as is the custom. You can burn yourself if you were walking past and touch it. One time I pulled it out of the wall and the mattress was brand new so it still had the plastic bag around it so I use that plastic bag pump out the air. Eventually they knocked on my door and I put it back in the slider frame. You don't have to insulate the tube because the tube is not radiant. The two of them may have little ridges on it but that isn't sufficient you have to have a fan blowing on the tube even if it's hot enough to burn you it's not going to matter that much because of the single pass cooling. All of the heat coming off of that tube is being sucked in unless you modify it as you have in which case you're no longer sucking the heat that leaks from that tube. It's a system. It's a system that maximizes profit for the coal burning entity like unisource or tricks to public into spending too much in the name of doing anything but cutting the profits of unisource instead increasing it. These companies have all been bought by foreign corporations making the gouging that China inflicts even in solar insignificant. It's the electricity itself that is the problem. If not the appliances. If you want to cool your body don't screw around with an insulator insulators are for keeping heat in not for keeping he going out. Got it? Ralph Nader talks about the electric grid when he runs for president he says it's the way you waste energy that's what it's for that's what it does the more energy waste the more money you make. You can bribe them to have you waste more money to make them more money and call that progress but at the end of the day Greta will not be able to go to college. I say let's get it done so that Greta can go to college! Have a heart. Get it done. Let her have some fun.

    I love that window unit! I have the one that is on the floor like at the 5:00 mark and has exhaust tubes taking up about 3 inches along the bottom of the window so I can open it BUT the compressor is in the room and so darn loud so I planned on using the old heavy one that I can’t use the window but I’m going to look into that one now.

    Hey Will, I just realized that I've never heard your thoughts on amorphous solar cells. You do mention cloudy days & extra batteries for autonomy, but I wonder what do you think of not having the extra expense (& storage area) of more batteries, & use amorphous panels instead? Especially for us northerners that have to deal with tons of cloudy days, & snow, etc.. I understand it would take more square feet of panels, but with those, you could practically shade your whole house with them & they'd still put out power from dawn to dusk. It might even help keep our dwelling cooler with a few inches of separation between surfaces.. I'd love to hear what you think about the pros & cons on that.. It might be helpful to a lot of people up here in zone 5 & beyond. We appreciate what you've been doing over the past few years.. You've probably helped tons of people gain priceless intangible things like certain skills & also things akin to independence & confidence.. I'd bet on it.. How great it must be to (1) Do something you enjoy anyways, (2) Get compensated while doing it, & (3) Help countless people in the process, oh, and another one I almost didn't think of: (4) gain their admiration & respect in the process... I mean, that's awesome, & I'm glad someone like you ended up with that happening after all the other not so fortunate stuff you've gone through... Now you'll never forget where you came from, so you'll handle successes grounded & graciously.. Those are the ones ya like to see win..

    I just got off the phone with Pioneer and was assured that the 5 yr. warranty was for DIY as well. The confusion comes from them asking for licensed installer info on the registration that must only be filled in by the installer. However, it can be left blank for DIYers and the full warranty still applies! Great news! (I deleted my post to the contrary and apologize for misinformation.)

If you bought Mr cool you should buy a bunch of those for spare because how can you beat that price delivered right 175 bucks brand new state of the art so that if somebody steals your identical unit that you paid over $1,000 for you've got the direct OEM replacement in stock like razor blades. I mean who has their air conditioning condenser outside where the meth heads can grab it without having several in the house that you had delivered for less than the cost of the copper? Who does that!

    I’m running my mini-spilt right now, with my solar system, as I’m watching this video! It is 74 and running 255watts on float just maintaining 74 degrees. When it run full on it using 875watts only. It a Senville. I like to add with that AC trap your testing, just be careful. I test one of those to last summer, 24 a day a week at a time, with Henderson NV heat to. I melted the wiring inside that thing. Good thing it was a test I was very surprised and it had 10gage wires in it.

      You know it only takes a few dozen lots to keep your body really cold. The problem that you're having is the humidity is getting into your evaporator air handler. You have to put that in a ldpe box. You can use galvanized metal so that it keeps the metal cold. Then you have to put a low density poly ethylene sheet of plastic in front of the box. That will keep the humidity from condensing on the evaporator coils or the metal box. If you will face that box you will find that you are not uncomfortable regardless of your windows being open. You only need to remove the humidity in the air if you are planning on sailing your clothing. If you don't have a goal of buying detergent because you have to wash your clothes all the time because you are running a dehumidifier and that's causing minerals to build up in your fabric because you don't notice that you're sweating. You need to notice when you're sweating so that you can change your clothing before you soil your clothing. If you run your dehumidifier you're not going to be able to know that you've got that problem going on. I know that it's popular to try to get the crap on the underwear and grow the bacteria under your armpits and s*** like that but not all of us can afford that fetish and certainly it's going to cause problems on this planet if it continues. By putting the cold metal behind the cheap plastic you will find that your body does not need dry air. Even if the air is the temperature of your body or warmer you will find that your body is radiating the heat invisibly this is known as infrared. Props you have bought a infrared heater? Your body is an infrared heater. Clothing is the way that you can sell air conditioning it's kind of like selling snow to Eskimos. Get people to wear the wrong fabrics and then you can mail all the icebergs and ship the heroin without having to go around the f****** continent. It's amazing what people can do if they put their minds on the task.

    I bought a Mr Cool 4 / 5 ton split system heat pump, seer 18 for my 2600sf house last year. I bought a scratch and dent unit, only the front and side of the condenser unit case was bent a little. I also got the special line set from them which enabled me to have the 10 year compressor warrentee with a diy install. The line set has a piston in the ends so there already sealed and you dont need to pump them down. They come precharged. The hardest part was removing my old air handler and dragging the new one in. This new condenser unit has a variable speed compressor and it keeps the humidity in south Alabama around 50% inside in the summer. The compressor sits under my bedroom window and I cant even here it over the air ducts blowing air. It also has dropped my elecric bill min $50 a month. Its a great system. Complete including hoses $3200. Free install (me). I also installed a Pioneer mini split 18000 btu 18 seer in my office 5 years ago, $850, I already had the lines. You cant hear the fan unless you get close and listen for it. Another great unit.

    Right ON! I installed two 12,000 BTU Pioneer mini splits that run on 120vac late last year to heat and cool my house along with other options. A savvy buddy who turned me on to the growth in efficiency of these mini splits told me under-sizing em is better than over-sizing. I learned most mini-splits run on 240vac; while Pioneer offers the 120vac options in 12,000 and 9000 BTU smaller units :+) Tooled up to set up my own too; and they are both working good.

      Your buddy is not savvy. At home Depot and Lowe's of course you might find micro inverter window units by LG. If you limit the cooling you increase the sear on The identical unit. So you can buy the same unit at 115 volts or 230 the 230 volt model can take more watts from the grid meaning it can spin faster meaning it can operate less efficiently. By buying two units instead of one in other words you reduce the efficiency of the system. Your goal is to operate everything as much as possible which is going to result in an operating at the lowest speed. You can see this in the mini split ratings of many brands including Bosch. There are surplus units on eBay from Bosch the 5000 BTU bottle.. that unit is a super quiet unit and of course German. They're not cheating when it comes to gaming the system for the seer rating. Somebody needs to talk about this more because even though it is surplus the seller is asking a lot of money because he respects the brand he just doesn't know why he should respect it but he respects it. The answer is because when it's on its maximum cooling power which for many people who only operate it when they come home for work until they overcool themselves and then they turn it off for the night it's going to use half of the energy that a much higher seer unit will use. Half!

      IMO: I Really LIKE my 2 x 120vac 12000 BTU Mini Split Heat Pump setup for the options they give me on top of their efficiency. I can run one or both; each runs on one or the other leg of my solar powered 240ac split phase; the 120vac version gives me multiple ways to power em up over a 240ac set ups (like my 120vac inverter generators can power em up, or a simpler 120vac Out Solar system can run em). I know what I LIKE. To each their own ways.

    I don't understand why you'd want to bring in hot air from the outside and cool it. instead of have a air conditioner that sucks the air from inside the house and recirculates it.

    Practical preppers RUclips has some really cool offgrid ac options hes been working with. One in a full standalone mini split and the other is a water chiller heat recovery unit to replace your traditional outside evaporators for a ac system. I'm look at the stacking the chillers on my building because they can run on full solar and are extremely efficient.

    If you get a chance one day, could you check out some direct solar powered split systems? They take a MC4 connector to power them directly, but as a result only run during the bright parts of the day.
    If you also needed air conditioning at night I'd look into storing cold water. I think I worked out that a ~500 gallon tank would store enough energy between 40F and 60F to provide cooling at 18000BTU/h for 5 hours. If you have space for an insulated tank somewhere they're not too difficult to build out of some wood, foam and a liner of sorts. A lot cheaper than batteries too. As a side, you could also store heat during winter months.

    You should install foil backed, foam insulation board inside your trailer. It's available at Lowes in 4×8 sheets in varying thickness.

    You have 5000 ft.² in Vegas, I have 500 ft.² in Tucson Arizona. I am just converting from a 14 seer rooftop heat pump to a patio installed mini split pioneer diamanté 19 seer heat pump. I only have roof top space for 5 - 330 watt solar panels, so with 6.5 average daily peak sun hours. There is no way I can power the air conditioner via solar alone. I think some sort of hybrid solar panel - power wall option is going to be best for my situation But I don’t want to mess with high-voltage DC as a DIY project. Thanks for the video I learned a lot as always

    Your video is really informative. One question - why not switch over to using evaporative coolers? They use about 10% of the energy of conventional AC and they would work great in Vegas.

      @@thomasbarlow4223 Other than our water pump starting we have no issues dealing with our loads. A soft starter would make more sense for us than a bigger inverter.

      @@Dutchforces1 Look for a hard start kit for the water pump. I have installed them on refrigerators to get my little 1000w inverter to run them and on the RV to get my Honda 2000i generator to start the AC. They are an add on or replacement Start capacitor.

    I was so soooo happy to see you have a Pioneer! I have the exact same one for my home, for the whole home, less than 1,400 sqft, located in Eastern Iowa. I use it primarily for AC, as I have natural gas during the winter. I'd love to get it off grid, or grid tied, would you have any recommendations on what it would take to get just the AC, a 36k btu Pioneer running exclusively off of Solar?

    Literally just had someone accept an offer on a house so solar is in my future. The place had window air's and no central heat so mini splits are my plan. Gonna be a ton of work, roof needs replaced, bathroom floor needs fixed, all the electrical needs upgraded, not to mention some other things. But planning to DIY grid tie with micro inverters so I can add as I go along and keep the costs down. Probably start off fully grid powered and supplement as I go along.
    Now it's just waiting for the closing to happen so I can get started.

    $30K is RELATIVELY cheap, but more than pocket change for me. I like the idea of a medium to small bang/$ off-grid systems powering supplemental heat & AC.
    I have 2 EVs, but mostly charge at night, maybe I could partial charge at 110 v.

    I love my 2 Midea U window units! I have a 8k in my bedroom. I put a kilawatt meter on it for 3 days. I observed that in "cool" mode, when the compressor kicks on full, I'm using about 200 watts, then when it drops to standby, with low fan breeze, 9 watts!! After 3 days, I had used 2.8kw hours at 72 degrees. Approx. 1kw per day! Amazing! I love it. I wonder how much solar/battery to cool a cabin, 55" led tv, a few LED lights? Video?

    Great video. I love your videos, they were very helpful for me.
    You should also talk about Electric Hybrid Water Heaters. Those also have a heat pump in them.
    Such a system acts as an AC and dehumidifier to besides providing you with hot water.
    When using such a system with a thermostatic mixing valve they can be used as an additional energy storage device (the hot water) which could increase the effective capacity of the tank by around 30% to 80% depending of the temperatures of the water used. With current large rebate they come out to be MUCH cheaper than any other water heater tanks (or tankless) powered by oil, gas or electric. Thus they are the most environmentally friendly too.
    I am installing in my basement a Rheem 50gal one that also has 2x 4.5kW electric heaters (besides the Heat Pump that is supposed to reduce the power required by around a factor of 4). This should work great for late spring to early fall BUT is a disaster for winter (in NYS) usage since it will cool the basement. I am contemplating ducting the air for this unit to overcome this problem for the winter. We will see. Suggestions and comments are welcome.
    I am also in the process of installing a MrCool 27,000 BTU mini split with 3 zones: 12,000 BTU + 2x 9,000 BTU Air Handlers (inside units). Notice that the total BTU of the Air Handlers is 30,000 BTU > 27,000 BTU of the condenser (compressor) which is OK but the total maximum is still just the 27,000 BTU.
    I have an off grid small solar setup with a total of 4.74kW solar of panels (12x395W which is the most I could fit on my roof). I am using a Growatt 12000T that can put out 12kW with 36kW surge for 20msec. I am using 6x used BYD 24V 8S LiFePo4 220Ah batteries (from Battery Hookup) configured 2S3P as a 48V system with the ANT 16S BMS that you talked about here in another video. At this point the capacity I am getting is about 50% of the spec for new (33.8kWh) such batteries (largely due to ONE bad cell in ONE BYD battery! 😢). This seems to be plenty to power my whole house in NYS. I use the grid as my "backup generator" 😉 and for charging my electric car at night (at the MUCH CHEAPER electric rates).
    I will see how it will do in the summer with the additions of MrCool (27,000 BTU = 7.9kW max) AC system (can also heat) and the Rheem Electric Hybrid Water Heater. All comments and suggestions are welcome.

      There used to be a man named Nick fedallah I don't know how to spell his last name but you can find his company I think his son is still running it tanque Verde air conditioning. Nick understood a lot that most of the industry doesn't understand for example he can figure his own home to use evaporative cooling during the day and then a tiny little air conditioner at night to basically dehumidify the air and that's it because you don't have the sun heating the house up at night you just need to get the humidity out and you're evaporative coolers will not do that. But he can't do that for customers because of the lobbying of the electric power industry creating the quote standards which require an air conditioner contractor put on a brand new air conditioner of the quote proper size when the house sells LOL. The co-ops in America specifically fought against the heat pump water heaters and had the bush presidents winning that fight. The secretaries and cabinet members that were appointed during the Republican administrations argued similar to your comment. Humidity in the basement is a problem and such a water heater is a dehumidifier not merely a source of cold air. I understand that you are concerned about the air being too dry in the winter. But this is more complicated than your erudite comments suggests. I spoke to one of the tanque Verde air conditioning employees the other day and told him about a listing for a five zone system that was extremely high efficiency much higher than any of the products you're talking about. The buyer of it had to buy seven of them because of course the retailers want to Mark the cost up by five figures for their profit. So the dude had bought the minimum quantity from the wholesale distributor. He figured he could sell the balance of the units you only needed like three or four of the seven. He was a landlord I think. Anyways Nick's company's employees of course knew who Nick was and thought the asking price was a pretty good deal LOL. We both understood it was gray market. Having prejudice against gray market goods is of course part of the problem.
      You're spending a lot of money on equipment without spending any money on good advice. I like ice. You might consider investing in an efficient ice maker. Instead of dehumidifying the air you can freeze it in the winter and then the Frozen water vapor bricks can be used in your backyard to make igloos. Around spring you can bring them in and make the igloos in your basement so that you never have to turn the air conditioning on but learn how to enjoy life playing with your kids after you get home.

    I modded my portable AC unit so that it has two hoses, one for intake, one for exhaust. WAY better. I also insulated the exhaust hose. Technically should have insulated both. I don't use that unit anymore though since I have central AC now but I'll probably repurpose it for the garage.

    The last house I owned had a 13 SEER AC, which was a low-budget "builder's special" from when the house was new. It finally failed from old age. I discovered it would be against code to replace it with anything less than SEER 16 - that's how bad those are! Yours may also use a freon which is no longer available.
