Not a good idea to tighten the upper control arms until the suspension is compressed to its normal ride position. You’ll tear the bushings if you do. Use a spin jack under the lower control arm if you’re working on a lift or simply floor jack it if you’re on jack stands. That also alights the upper ball joints so they drop in easier.

Totally agree on your comment here.
I used to work in the OEM sales market. We actually had a seminar with engineers from the Lemförder factory, and they really made a point on the fact that every German brand with Multi Link suspension is actually supposed to be embedded on a special support jig (supporting both the traverse, the lower control arms and the outer steering joints), before exchanging any Multi Link arms or any steering rod joints. Our mechanics weren’t to tighten any bushings before any of the link arms were in place!
When / if necessary, four wheel control / alignment were to be done, it should take place while the suspension was still in the front suspension jig. Such control / alignment should (of course) never take place before every Multi Link part had been tightened in their normal riding height / position.
The above described procedure was actually a necessity for withholding your disclamation right on such Lemförder products.

I usually use 1 layer of electrical tape on the bolt then grease that up bolt comes out nice and easy next time round 👍🏻

Wow, that was some effort! My wife's Alfa Romeo Mito had a broken O/S/F Spring that failed the MOT [obviously]. A local friendly garage in the industrial estate changed it and re MOT'd it all for £99.48. I'm inclined to think that your customer's bill may have been significantly higher! Good video as usual without the usual american histrionics.

If you drop the top mount you would get enough clearance to remove the inner top joints l know that dosnt solve the sided pinch bolt but you can replace the spring

Those uppers will not last too long the way you did that job...ideally measure the centre of the wheel to the wing arch wen car in still on the ground....then when tightening the upper control arm bolts raise the hub and measure the centre to the same height as on the ground so as not to have any stress on the rubber mounts...👍

Great time to buy is usually around a bank holiday weekend, Easter is coming and they do great deals, keep your receipts though! And thanks for watching 👍
