2017 was a big year. My drone and I traveled to Canada, the Caribbean, and all over the United States. After logging over 500 flights in 2017 alone, I present the Best Drone Footage of 2017! Every shot was filmed with my DJI Phantom 4 Pro.

The video motivates me towards drone video/photography but the art doesn't seem that simple. Countless hours in the making, countless hours in editing and many more in learning the skill set. I wish it was that simple as watching the video.

First of all .... stunningly beautiful :-) Secondly, I can appreciate the amount of work that goes into a "compilation" video like this. On the surface it seems like a relatively easy task but when you have volumes of video to sort through and then painstakingly edit just the bits you want, the task becomes daunting. I found it mentally exhausting just deciding what was worthy and what wasn't :-)
So true, I had to sort through 12TB of footage for this video... 🤯

I recognized 95% of the video from the originals. Most days traveling on our trips I might shoot 20 or 30Gb that I edit for the day. I can't imagine one TB let alone 12 ! I do get inspired to make compilation videos when I see end results like you have produced here so thank you :-)

Awesome footage! I've been flying drones for a little over 2 years now and ever since my 1st flight I've been hooked as well! Question: at 8:50 into the video is that the William Thornton boat in the British Virgin Islands? If so I've actually been on that boat and jumped off it as well....let me know...great footage!
It was the Willy T schooner I believe. It is a floating bar on Norman Island in the BVI.
FANTASTIC
So it's obvious that these places are remarkable and very pleasing to the eye, but what makes this the best footage of 2017 is the fact that these shots are not glitchy! People get great footage everyday with drones like the mavic or phantom 4, but a lot of times the video quality is not buttery smooth... it's glitchy and it looks horrible and this footage is smooth and very few instances throughout this video can you detect glitchiness through the movement. I'm not talking about camera panning with the joy stick either, just a normal flight with no camera movement when I mention the glitchiness
I loved it, it has inspired me to do more with my drone (a DJI Mavic Pro) Amazing!

D Cinelike (not a fan of DLOG on the P4P), and my contrast/saturation/sharpness settings vary, but in general -2, -3, -2

It is hard to believe this is shot on a p4, the dynamic range is too good to be true! can you share the settings with us? If this is a truly a p4, then there is no need for an inspire 2 :)

i have a mavic pro.. are the settings pretty much some what similar to shoot footage like this or is this some post production involved too with color grading?
The principles are the same with the Mavic: shoot a flat image on the camera (D-LOG or D-CINELIKE) to give you more flexibility to color correct/grade in post, dial down the sharpness, the contrast and the saturation (you can easily add this back in post), use ND filters to keep your shutter speed at two times your frame rate, and keep your camera movements slow.

Awesome video, what 4k resolution/frame rate do you use?
Cinema 4K at 24fps for most clips, a few clips were at 48fps
