Whoever had the idea to include the woman in this footage deserves a pat on the back. This is a wonderful video, and having her to use for scale enhanced this from a 9.5 to a 10 for me.

Amazing footage!! National Parks are definitely great for drone photography. But how did you get by the National Parks laws for the restrictions? Just curious. We weren't even allowed flying in the State and municipal Parks.

I have a 4K monitor and an (old) 13" Mac. It stutters on 4K (and I have a decent internet conx). Amazing footage BTW!

Yes, always keep your shutter speed at 2x your frame rate, D Cinelike and -2, -2, -2

Wanope depends on the project, but usually I shoot in 24fps (normal speed) or 48fps (slow motion).

Just curious did you get permission at some of those places? I've heard the FAA uses social media to find illegal drone use.
*Short of TFRs, flying above 400', the White House and in controlled airspace near airports (including military) where can't a drone legally fly? No one owns the air above private or public property.*

@@BRollOffroad *Well, the FAA's own website that has the federal drone rules and regulations doesn't mention a thing about National Parks. As far as state parks go it'd be up to each state so you'd end up having 50 different sets of rules. I heard there's restrictions about flying UAVs over National Park land but have yet to read the CFR on it. Also, beware of bogus CFRs the feds put up because I've seen signs with my own eyes that supposedly restrict some sort of activity and they reference a CFR yet when you actually read the CFR it refers to it's wrong. If there's a federal CFR that specifically states restrictions for flying over federal land I've love to see it.*
i searched “flying drones in national parks,” and any of the first 10 posts will tell ya but here’s one from nps.gov:

state _could- have 50 different sets of rules but it seems they are all on the same page and ban them like national parks.
also forgot wilderness areas, can’t fly there.
the verbiage is “can’t take off, land in, or operate from” these areas. this pilot claims to have stayed within the law taking off outside the boundary and flying in which is totally legal. personally though it seems like a loophole that’s going to get closed so i just don’t do it, plenty of national forest and blm land for me to enjoy.

It seems the NPS is hanging their hat on "36 CFR § 1.5 (a)(2) Designate areas for a specific use or activity, or impose conditions or restrictions on a use or activity." So they can restrict your physical activity while you stand on park property but as you pointed out this UAV pilot was not on park property. As long as the operator of the UAV is not on park lands you lawfully operate your UAV OVER National Park land. The airspace above the parks is governed exclusively by the FAA. Thanks again for your research.*

I've got kind of lump in my chest. I haven't had that for quite a while. This is absolutely stunning footage. Are you sure you don't work for the NOVA channel or someone like that? I wouldn't doubt it if you did. The music is stupendous. It really signifies, to me, the absolutely grandeur view of your footage. I just can't say enough about it that could describe it. I love the awesome video. How did you get a permission to fly at grand canyon? Aren't they restricted to fly drone there? I want go there to film but the airmap app said not allowed.

Color graded each clip. Straight out of camera the color is very flat.

Hey John, I've not seen any new videos from you in a while, hope everything is ok? I'm a big fan of your channel trying to achieve the same editing skills & flying as yourself, got a long way to go yet tho. I currently have the phantom 4 pro obsidian, recently bought some filters after doing some research into them. Could you help me with the settings to use on the phantom 4 pro so i can get the best out of my drone, I'm getting a Macbook Pro this year with final cut pro, if you can help me with the beset setting to use it would be much appreciated. Always take off and land outside the park boundary, and it’s 100% legal.
