When you’re done, contact some sewing and crafting blogs and magazines so they can do a feature on the project! If it takes 20 minutes to do a flower (idk I’m just guessing), you got 709 flowers and then you make this dress that’s hundreds of hours for the dress! That’s a cool fun fact!

    Two ideas: 🌺🌼🌸🌻🌹☘
    1. Sort the flowers by colour and make the dress like a rainbow.
    2. Make a coat instead of a dress. You can buy a long coat from the thrift shop and attach the flowers. You will look like spring itself and it will look really cute with jeans and boots. And if there are some flowers left you can even make a hat!

You can use transparent thread and a zig zag stitch to sew crochet together on the machine! Given the weight of the crochet you'll probably want to put some boning in the bodice and possibly source a hooped underskirt to keep everything nice and swishy.

This is going to be breathtaking! I thought you should sew it onto a cotton base - happy that you also thought that is the way to go. Some years ago I knitted a crew neck jersey/sweater (I think you would call it) with off-white yarn and hated it. Wore it once. A few years later I decided to crochet flowers and leaves and sew it on the front. Connected some of the flowers with green embroidered 'stems". Also added a few squiggles (sewed crochet chains). It is now a one-of-a- kind that always brings compliments.
If you have any flowers left you might want to embellish anothet garment in this manner. 😁😁😁 Love from South Africa

Go to Opus and get the largest wood canvas frame, build it, attach your fabric onto it as if you were embroidering, then hand sew the flowers on. The benefit of doing it this way is you can draw out your pattern and sew the flowers on before you cut fabric and you won't be standing awkwardly over a dress form having to lift a huge skirt as you sew.

I think a dress containing all of them is super cool, however it would've totally worked if you decided to use the flowers instead to make: a matching skirt, a matching cardigan and/or sweater, and matching full length dress, a matching purse/bag, maybe a matching hat... etc. Then you'd get lots of clothing items out of that kind of project, and more wardrobe pieces to mix and match with the rest of your clothes! Just a thought for you, or for anyone else thinking of making so many flowers :)

Could you see them close together so they’re almost overlapping and just sew the centre bit so they’ve got a bit of texture to them? Also saves the faff with sewing the entire perimeter? 🧐 love this, Jenna! ❤️

I found a crochet dress pattern on Etsy that used Irish lace as the base. Maybe a light fabric like that could keep the dress light weight.

My opinion is to use sewing machine zigzag stitch to attach all the flower with each other and you need to press the flowers before zigzag stitching it as one fabric piece. Then you can just cut the fabric to dess pieces and sewing it together as a regular dress, so what I’m saying is that you need to make it as a fabric, then make it as a dress.

Just spitballing an idea to you, Jenn, via the question I had when I watched you sewing all those flowers together for that top but never asked, "You do know that there exists a fusible nylon mesh knit, sold by the yard, that you could use as a backing once you get your flowers arranged (on their faces) don'tcha?" It usually comes in white, nude/tan, and brown, at least where i am. One side of it has heat-fusible adhesive on it. Most of the time I use it to Reinforce the knee, belly, and butt area of woolen clothing that I sew, to prevent the saggy-baggys.
There are also double-sided fusibles, so that you don't have to hand sew so, so many stitches. Like, maybe you only want to hand sew the centers, and let the petals be petals ya know? Or sew the centers and only tack the edges of the petals at the halfway point?
Oh! I just saw someone sent you flower earrings! How wonderful.

You need 300 to make a queen size blanket Carlos and Arne has a pattern for a pin wheel blanket and they looks a bit bigger but some of those amazing flowers would work for that I think. I have 150 started for this blanket.

I just found this epic project series - by watching part 2 first, then 1. Great idea... *great* response from your fans, great job on the dress. I'm eager for more.
I'm a little sad all the postage stamps & postmarks weren't reserved for another art project... as an adjunct piece for commemorating the genesis of this collaborative dress project - such as a journal or a framed collage. Paper art has been a natural extension of my sewing skills, and most of the tools even work for both. I loved making fabric books... so I learned to make paper ones later too. Art is expression that's why we do it - every postage stamp is an original piece of art in fact... and every postmark & postage stamp is another gift from a fan. SO, JENNA...
if/when you do another - a coat and hat were suggested in the comments and that would be sublime, actually - please consider the postal art as another bundle of gifted materials to create with. No pressure.
Just Keep Going, you're doing wonderfully.

A little will go a long way! Give yourself the goal of just sewing one flower a day! This way if you don’t have a lot of energy then at least you did one! But if you have lots of energy (and patience) then you can make it up by doing more than one in a day!
I’ve been following this advice on a huge cross stitch project I’m doing and it’s definitely helped with that feeling of overwhelm 😅

    Hey Jenna,
I love your idea of making a toile/ underdress in your chosen design. As you say the weight of a full skirt will be beautiful, but heavy!
    Three things sprang to mind...
    1. Maybe use a skin tone colour fabric for the underdress
    2. Perhaps a top and skirt to look like a dress, (wiith a waistband re weight)
    3. Use a zig Zag on the machine to apply the flowers.(quick n stable)
    Best of luck
    M💕
