I retired in January and hadn't crocheted for over 20 years, went to the Dollar Store just browsed down the craft aisle and saw one lone crochet hook hanging and wow they even had yarn. I purchased them with the thought I could fill in some time and I could teach myself again. Well to my surprise it wasn't truly lost and now I crochet alot and have a growing collection of yarn, needles, other notions and realize it time to organize as this is a keeper. Thank you as I found so many of you and other great designers on as my granny would have said "this here RUclips"😂
@@EliseRoseCrochet I love your work and designs. Your amigurumi items are superb and granny square blanket, aww ❤️. Knitting and making toys I am not touching, leaving that to to the experts!
That muscle memory, if developed long enough, doesn't disappear! It had been almost 40 years since I'd crocheted one scarf (with rather wonky sides) at age 8; my mom taught me the single crochet stitch, and it seemed to take forEVER to get the scarf to a wearable length, and once it was finished, I didn't stick with crochet. A few years ago, I became interested, but I didn't remember how to get started. Picked up a few supplies, watched a few RUclips tutorials, made my slip knot, and with the first chains that muscle memory kicked right in. And stitch markers have helped me keep the sides from going wonky! 😊💖🧶
I have a decent Dollar Tree 🌳 close to me. The problem is they run out of things I like. I have a few more Dollar Trees a little further out that I can visit. They are all over the place where I live. (Nashville, TN area)
My Dollar Tree doesn’t have much in store but online they have a decent selection. If you order online and pick up at store it’s free most of the time. Happy hooking! 🧶✌🏼🤗
Someone I worked with years ago had an old photo album that she took pictures of all of her projects, in the spot next to it she had the name of the project and most of the details. I thought that was such a great idea.
I keep my crochet hooks and circular knitting needles in plastic school boxes. The long knitting needles are in a long, lidded plastic box. They stay clean and stack well on a deep shelf. My yarn is sorted into labeled, pretty boxes bought on sale. A work in progress usually sits in a decorative basket. I carry a big purse because I always take a small project with me. I will knit or crochet in line at the store or during a meeting. I am never bored because I always have something to do with my hands. (I make dishcloths and scrubbies all year to give for Christmas.) My scissors, stitch markers, yarn needle and crochet hook go with me in a small pencil case.
I have made a wonderful find, and it was TOTALLY FREE!! I am a Tic Tac addict, specifically the Coca Cola ones and the orange ones. I emptied one of the large plastic containers the other day. I was more or less playing with the empty container, thinking that I'd toss it in the recycle basket. Then I peeled off the label and saw that the entire top opens on a hinge and closes very securely. A light bulb went off! I had been struggling to hang onto my tools and supplies and had even lost a couple of things and had to replace them. As I have mentioned before, I use willow picnic baskets with the lift up lids to keep my yarn in as I'm working on a project. I crochet very quickly (although not as quickly as I did before arthritis developed in my hands) so I unwind or pull all the yarn from the skein and put it, completely loose, in the basket. I can easily carry my work everywhere I go and I find that the lid keeps peoples' hands out of my yarn, while it flows out freely under the lid. I've used this setup for years and enjoy this method immensely. The only problem I have is keeping up with my little tools, etc. in the depths of a pound of loose yarn! Now, thanks to the Tic Tac boxes, I have a dozen stitch markers in two colors, a tailor's carded 18 inch measuring tape with a rubber band around it, my trusty Teflon coated yarn needle complete with the monofilament flexible eye, tucked under the rubber band, a small pair of scissors (I plan to get a yarn cutting tool) and a half dozen fabric bandaids ALL in my handy dandy Tic Tac case with the securely fastening lid! Oh, the fabric bandaids are to wrap around my left index finger where the yarn rubs it as it flows. That finger can become very sore and I've tried dozens of protectors and rings, but the bandaids work best for me. I get a box of 25 at Dollar Tree for less than two bucks! Now I always keep them close to me when I'm working. The rounded corners of my new tool case keep it from getting snagged on the yarn and the bright color of the lid (I have a white one, a yellow one and a red one) help me to locate it quickly in the basket when I need it. I now buy Tic Tacs, give most of them to anyone who wants them, then I fill the case with tools and give it to any fiber artist friends I see. Please try this method, fellow fiber freeks! You may find, just as I did, that it's the best idea since...since stitch markers! Keep on stitching! Much love from Tennessee! 😺
Those lock top snack containers are perfect for my insulin needles and used needles when I’m traveling. I labeled one biohazard for the used needles and they both fit in my insulin / meds bag. No worry about lids coming off.
I always feel when I make something to give to someone they really won't like it. So I stepped out of the box and made my daughter a farmers market crochet bag. Well she loves it. You certainly have me some great ideas for organization. Nothing worse than needing something and you waste time looking. Thanks for so many great ideas, also thanks for the laughs. My head isn't always screwed on right, organinizing would help. Have a great day.
I don't make stuff for others anymore because I never get to see it again. I was cured from that a long time ago. I didn't know Dollar Tree had a craft isle. I'm going to go today!

Ok, your Dollar Tree is very well stocked… I can only wish I had access to 1/2 of those organizing bins and trays! I like those handled jars … always on the lookout for handy taller storage for my practically invisible beading needles, as well as doll needles. Thanks for sharing your haul 🥰
I have a bunch of hand sewing needles that were scattered in my sewing box. I took wide grosgrain ribbon I repurpurposed and put the needles in it. I can make the strips as long as I need to and I can find the needle I need fast. Pieces of fabric with thin batting in the middle would work too. Dollar Tree potholders perhaps?
@@nancy9478 that’s such a great idea! I have so many size needles for my (too many) craft needs … embroidery, quilting, beading, darning, and yarn crafts … I love that - thanks!
After watching this I am energized & motivated to straighten up my yarn area. My 4 teen daughter s keep moving out furniture and things they don’t want. So I am trying to recycle by using there stuff in my yarn room
Loved this video because sometimes we need new eyes at the Dollar Tree. I've shopping there so long that I pass by these things without another thought to using them differently. Thanks so much for the great ideas! I especially like the crochet hook idea as I am having a love/hate relationship with my current hook bag that has a broken zipper.
Hi Elise, I just wanted to say that your knitted toys inspired me to knit. So far I've made 3 hand towels, and your Knitting 101 series gave me the confidence to try a bath mitt pattern. I'm halfway through, and I cant wait to try toy patterns from my local public library!
Hi Elise! Isn't it so refreshing and satisfying to organize your crochet supplies and yarn!! And especially when you find cute containers and baskets that are so affordable!!❤ After an extremely long day of unpacking boxes and moving furniture in my new home in 100 degree heat, I couldn't wait to get a cold shower and sit back and watch your video! The perfect way to finish out my day. Happy Independence Day!😊

Oooh, so many lovely things - I wish we had Dollar Tree here. I love minty green colours! I'm a Butterfly too but I have to keep everything behind closed doors or else I would be 'inspired' all day every day and never get my work done 😂 I keep my knitting needles in an accordion (expanding) folder file - that way I can write the sizes on the tabs and pop the needles into the right pockets. Thank you for all the ideas and for another cheerful happy episode.
Really nice ideas. I need to start keeping note books for my crochet and even coloring. I go to the Dollar tree every now and then. Ty for the ideas. They are helpful.
I need those little jars with handles!!! I knit with beads and they'd be perfect to hold my beads! (Or my stitch markers...I'm always losing them). Loved the little caddy for crochet hooks...... HONEY, START THE CAR!!! WE'RE GOING TO DOLLAR TREE! (Just wish mine had yarn, too....not that I need more, You just can never have enough :) ) Thanks for the ideas!
Seeing that you've got me hooked now, we don't have dollar tree outlets on South Africa. I decided to buy during summer as there are wool available in bulk at affordable prices. Thanks for your lovely patterns, and I am looking forward to master them. ❤
My favorite thing you picked up is the beach bag, I have a couple of those that I have had forever and have been looking for them. I use mine under the bathroom sink to hold my hair dryer, hair irons, brushes, combs…. I just grab the bag by the handles… I don’t need to bend or stoop down and out it goes and when done, toss everything in and pop it back under. I use the same for my cleaning supplies under my kitchen sink. They are light weight, cheap and so easy to toss things in and just reach down and grab those handles… you will appreciate not stooping more and more as you get older. I will be looking for these to store my crochet projects in. Currently I use a couple of back packs. I can put all my yarn and the project in the backpack and have pockets for hooks and scissors and well.. anything else I want to take along, crochet pattern, magazine - I also usually bring my tablet along in the bigger pocket so I can look at your videos! The backpack is great - it is very light weight - I don’t need heavy duty ones so I can purchase cute cheap ones… I can toss them around, hang them on a hook, everything stays nice and clean inside. Heading out to $ Tree to see if mine has those beach baskets, I hope they do.
Great ideas for uses. I am a vintage collector and when we moved to a smaller home in retirement I was having to purge. Since I was setting up a craft room at the same time I used some beautiful Fire King loaf pans to store my fat quarters. Then the wooden cheese boxes entered the chat to hold my paper craft supplies, 50's pink Pyrex bowls hold yarn balls, antique Ball jars hold buttons, old mini planters hold my crochet hooks etc. My favorite is my Grandma's bundt pan holding my lace which is all wrapped around old wooden spools. You can see where this is going, I got rid of nothing! But now it all has a use and I had to buy nothing to organize my craft room.
You remind me of myself. I have to have things out too! If I see what I have, I get inspired to use it. And things I have put away, I too, have forgotten and am surprised at what I have when I find them. I loved your idea of bringing the yarn through the basket cut-out. I had struggled for years trying to knit while keeping the yarn by my side without it rolling on the floor. If only I had thought of your idea, I'd have fun watching the yarn come through the cut-out in the basket.
Great video! FYI: A lot of people in the different fb crochet groups have been buying those little pegboards to use to block squares. I don't remember what everyone is using to hold them in place. I did see one person who uses golf tees.
Good tips! Here's one for you. You said your cubbies were open in the back and sometimes the yarn falls through the back. Well, buy some painters canvas drop cloths and staple it across the back nice and taunt. Problem solved.
This is the first video of yours that I have seen. I love that you crochet and love cats! I like a lot of your ideas for organizing your yarn and craft stuff. I'll have to watch some of your crochet tutorials! I'm addicted to crocheting :D
I used the Lil bon bon yarns in those little mugs! For takin on the go to work on amigurumi! I also had that same pen organizer u mentioned first , and I kept my hooks in there, the holes however are too small for furlshooks or any you have that are made thicker like that
Thank you for all the amazing ideas I too like my stuff out where I can see it but also needs to be cat proof. Our Ginger tabby is named Feisty for lots of reasons. Our black cat(Feisty’s true brother) Zorro is more laid back he will lie on anything I make but he doesn’t try to destroy it. 🙂💖🐈🐈⬛🌈
I just moved and have less space for organizing my crafty items. This video has some great ideas to help me along! There is a very nice Dollar Tree not so far away. Thaank you for sharing 🙂
Love this!! Just want to say, be careful storing your hooks hook side up, especially if they end up on the floor! I spent Monday night in the ER with a crochet hook (2.0mm) an inch and a half deep in my foot/heel! Had them on the floor cause I was using them on my bed.
@@EliseRoseCrochet thank you!! The lord healed my foot completely and he healed it a month sooner than the doctor's thought it should take! I serve a good and faithful god!
My sister has lots of craft supplies and lots and lots of yarn. Her supplies really need to be organized. I sent her a link to your RUclips video to share with her your many great ideas on how to organize the craft supplies. I think my sister has a ButterFly organizing style too.
I can totally relate on preferring to have stuff organized, but out! Whenever I clean my room it gets messy within a week, because I just pull everything out again, and leave it on my desk or dresser. I definitely need more shelving and organizers!
Many of us creators need visual & tactile stimulation... see it, pet it... the brain tells us: "Gotta have it"; so addicting... Organizing containers in which we can see what we put in them, are the best way to store our items; in my humble opinion (IMHO). Thanks for sharing!
I love those clear organizers... 😍😍😍 As much as I want to display my craft stuff, I can't because of the dust and everything. I can barely do craft while taking care of a toddler and infant. I can't for the life of me add more chores like cleaning/dusting the craft room every single day.
These are all awesome ideas. Thank you so much for sharing! I am praying that my Dollar Tree has some of those gold baskets, for I am falling in love with them. I just wish all Dollar Tree stores carried the same items😐☺
I started crocheting back in December 2022 and couldn't stick with it. Recently saw another person who does crocheting here on RUclips and she suggested using chunky yarn. Bought a roll of chunky yarn and started crocheting again. Using it to not smoke cigs as much (trying to quit) and it's been helping a lot. My youngest daughter even started crocheting with me after I taught her how.
My office and craft rooms are in need of reorganizing, so I was happy to see this video. I have some of the items you showcased, but I’m inspired now to use them in different ways. I’ve been looking at the wire baskets but haven’t purchased them yet because I haven’t had any inspiration in how to use them. Now, I do, and will be picking some up when I go to Dollar Tree tomorrow. Thanks for the ideas!😊
I love Pickle! Scrimp says to tell him "Meow" from Memphis. Scrimp also likes crunchy plastic, it's just so much fun to chew on! I'm a newbie but I love your channel. Best Wishes!
I hadn't crocheted or knitted in 30 years. Now I am 100% addicted. I stocked up on yarns, hooks, and needles which forced me to [taking deep breath] deep clean my apartment and organize. It's really nice when you can have hands-on at any given time.
Hi Elise Thank you for sharing these handy products and tips… I could definitely organise my crochet supplies. Take care and stay safe and well. God bless you all always 🙏🏼🧶💗🦋😻
I love that big basket..I bought one in orange a few months back to hold my yarn. Also I bought a different round basket for my friend and I will use it to make a gift basket of crochet goodies for her for Christmas. Dollar Tree has some great stuff for crafts! I love it
I wound up running out to dollar tree just a few days after watching this and picking up those same baskets and rearranging my yarn by color. It looks so pretty! I was already using the glass mason jars for storing yarn needles, keychain hooks, and a nice tall one ( from target) for my knitting needles. My craft shelves look more like an art installation than a cluttered mess of Rubbermaid containers and it’s definitely sparking the creativity 😊
Elise, your enthusiasm is contagious!!! I enjoyed looking at all of your organizational containers, got some great ideas, and loved seeing your colorful supplies and yarn! Thank you! Blessings 💕

You can see where this is going, I got rid of nothing! But now it all has a use and I had to buy nothing to organize my craft room.
That is incredible!!!! Your craft space sounds like a dream to me!! 🧶🧶🧶
Wonderful vid. I bought several of those mini jars for no reason-I just love them too!
They really are adorable! 🧶🧶🧶
Wow! You are truly lucky to have such a filled Dollar Tree! Our stores here are always empty.
That's too bad!! 🌳🌳🌳
I'm glad you enjoyed the different ideas! 🧶🧶🧶
Great video! FYI: A lot of people in the different fb crochet groups have been buying those little pegboards to use to block squares. I don't remember what everyone is using to hold them in place. I did see one person who uses golf tees.
Genius!! Thanks for sharing!! 🧶🧶🧶
Good tips! Here's one for you. You said your cubbies were open in the back and sometimes the yarn falls through the back. Well, buy some painters canvas drop cloths and staple it across the back nice and taunt. Problem solved.
Now that's a great tip!!!!! Thank you!!!! 🧶🧶🧶
It's amazing what you can find in the dollar store/pond shop nowadays!
Charity shops/thift stores are also great places to look for inexpensive yarn
So true! Thanks for sharing!! 🧶🧶🧶
Ty,for showing great ideas on how to get things organized, This is the first time I seen your channel ,it was very informative,❤
You are so welcome! ❤️
Those little jars with covers would be cute potpourri jars in the bathroom.
Yes they would be perfect for that!! 🧶🧶🧶
This is the first video of yours that I have seen. I love that you crochet and love cats! I like a lot of your ideas for organizing your yarn and craft stuff. I'll have to watch some of your crochet tutorials! I'm addicted to crocheting :D
Thank you so much!! I my love kitty cats and my yarn! 🧶🧶🧶
I love the crochet holder. It won’t hold all of my hooks but I leave it out and can get to a hook I need. Thanks for doing this video.
I really like mine too! 🧶🧶🧶
I used the Lil bon bon yarns in those little mugs! For takin on the go to work on amigurumi! I also had that same pen organizer u mentioned first , and I kept my hooks in there, the holes however are too small for furlshooks or any you have that are made thicker like that
Thanks for sharing!! 🧶🧶🧶
I think my Dollar Trees has some of these things. Thanks so much for your suggestions! Awesome video!
You are so welcome! ❤️❤️❤️
I just found your channel. You have solved some of my organization problems for my handmade business. Thank you for this video.
That's awesome! I'm so glad it was helpful! 🧶🧶🧶
Lol!! Love the name Feisty!! 🐈🐈⬛😹
I just moved and have less space for organizing my crafty items. This video has some great ideas to help me along! There is a very nice Dollar Tree not so far away. Thaank you for sharing 🙂
I'm glad this helped! ❤️
Love this!! Just want to say, be careful storing your hooks hook side up, especially if they end up on the floor! I spent Monday night in the ER with a crochet hook (2.0mm) an inch and a half deep in my foot/heel! Had them on the floor cause I was using them on my bed.
Ouch!!!!!! I hope you're doing ok now! That sounds so painful!! 🙀🙀🙀
@@EliseRoseCrochet thank you!! The lord healed my foot completely and he healed it a month sooner than the doctor's thought it should take! I serve a good and faithful god!
Good good good ideas!❤
Thank you! 😊
My sister has lots of craft supplies and lots and lots of yarn. Her supplies really need to be organized. I sent her a link to your RUclips video to share with her your many great ideas on how to organize the craft supplies. I think my sister has a ButterFly organizing style too.
Thanks for sharing!! 🧶🧶🧶
First watcher. Very informative. Looking forward to your next video. Thank you!
Awesome, thank you! 🧶🧶🧶
I can totally relate on preferring to have stuff organized, but out! Whenever I clean my room it gets messy within a week, because I just pull everything out again, and leave it on my desk or dresser. I definitely need more shelving and organizers!
I definitely need mine out! If I can't see it, it doesn't exist in my mind! ❤️❤️❤️
Many of us creators need visual & tactile stimulation... see it, pet it... the brain tells us: "Gotta have it"; so addicting... Organizing containers in which we can see what we put in them, are the best way to store our items; in my humble opinion (IMHO).
Thanks for sharing!
Oh I like your little notions bag that's cute
Thank you! 🤗
I just have to say I love all your videos!
Glad you like them! ❤️
wow! loved all your projects and your craft room is beautiful. Great haul from dollar tree
Thank you so much! 🌳💗🧶
All great ideas! I'll be using some of these very soon.
Thank you
Glad it helped! 🧶🧶🧶
I love those clear organizers... 😍😍😍
As much as I want to display my craft stuff, I can't because of the dust and everything. I can barely do craft while taking care of a toddler and infant. I can't for the life of me add more chores like cleaning/dusting the craft room every single day.
Having a baby and a toddler is a full time job all by itself!! ❤️❤️❤️
I like your glasses! You look really cute in them!
Thank you so much! 🤓
Great ideas! That was fun to watch!😀
Glad you enjoyed! ❤️
I'd put some lavender in the little Mason jars and they would be perfect with your little cover.
That shade of teal you got for the baskets is my ABSOLUTE favorite color. So fresh!
It really is! So bright and cheerful!!! 🧶🧶🧶
the little jars with the crochet you added are adorable. Could add some popouri or scent beads to freshen your craft room
Yes! Great idea!! 🧶🧶🧶
These are all awesome ideas. Thank you so much for sharing! I am praying that my Dollar Tree has some of those gold baskets, for I am falling in love with them. I just wish all Dollar Tree stores carried the same items😐☺
I hope you find them too! 🧶🧶🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochet Thank you❤️!
I'm so glad it's helping you to be healthier!! Rooting for you!! ❤️
I use those little jars for my yarn needles. ❤
Great idea! 🧶🧶🧶
All great ideas. Thank you 😊
You are so welcome! ❤️
Thanks for the organization ideas.
You are so welcome! 🧶🧶🧶
Nice bag teal one ❤
Thank you 😊
Those are all smart ideas 💡🥰
I thought so too! 🧶🧶🧶
I love your craft room and your craft projects so cute you are inspiring me allot 😊😊
I love Pickle! Scrimp says to tell him "Meow" from Memphis. Scrimp also likes crunchy plastic, it's just so much fun to chew on! I'm a newbie but I love your channel. Best Wishes!
Pickle says hello to Scrimp!! 🐈🐈⬛❤️
Yes organized. Thank you
I hadn't crocheted or knitted in 30 years. Now I am 100% addicted. I stocked up on yarns, hooks, and needles which forced me to [taking deep breath] deep clean my apartment and organize. It's really nice when you can have hands-on at any given time.
That's wonderful!! 🧶🧶🧶
The basket could also be used as the insert for a crocheted basket! I can’t wait to go to dollar tree and try it out.
Great idea!! 🧶🧶🧶
Very Organized,it’s great 💡 idea!!
I love your choice of music, and your DT purchases.
Thank you! 😊
I just heard you say you like your stuff out where you can see it…you made my day. I’m happy to identify with with such a talented artist❣️❣️❣️❣️
Awwww! I'm so glad!! 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you sooo much. Next time I go into town, I'm trying these!
Have fun! 🧶🧶🧶
Hi Elise
Thank you for sharing these handy products and tips… I could definitely organise my crochet supplies.
Take care and stay safe and well. God bless you all always 🙏🏼🧶💗🦋😻
You are so welcome! ❤️🧶❤️🧶
I love that big basket..I bought one in orange a few months back to hold my yarn. Also I bought a different round basket for my friend and I will use it to make a gift basket of crochet goodies for her for Christmas.
Dollar Tree has some great stuff for crafts! I love it
They really do! 🧶🧶🧶
Hello.the hook holder is great.i have grandbabies.monsters.the point is glue it together.
Good to know! 🧶🧶🧶
THANK YOU FOR SHARING 🙏
You are so welcome! 🧶🧶🧶
Oooh!!! That's wonderful!!! 🧶🧶🧶
I keep my straight knitting needles in a pretty vase
That round crafters square organizer box with the hole in the center you could stack those on a wooden dowel rod… maybe even a paper towel stand!
Great idea!! 🧶🧶🧶
I love this video. Lots of great ideas!
Thank you!! 😊
I hope to find all these beautiful and good stuff, when I go to Dollar Tree Store.🤔👍👍
Elise, your enthusiasm is contagious!!! I enjoyed looking at all of your organizational containers, got some great ideas, and loved seeing your colorful supplies and yarn! Thank you! Blessings 💕
You're so welcome!! 🧶🧶🧶
I agree Dollar Tree is a great place. I'm organizing stuff here and found some of the same items you showed.
Wonderful! 🌲🌲🌲
TY…for theses great DT tips! I’m just getting acquainted with our local store... I must be a “ Butterfly” also, as I so enjoy having my supplies out where I can enjoy the colors and textures- and be inspired to create!
You are so welcome! 💙
