This is so educational even if viewers will never make a sweater like this. Most people who have never made something don't know the true cost in labor. When you try to make something like this and see how long it takes you, it really helps you understand why these type of items cost so much. Fun fact: ALL crocheted items are made by hand. There are no crochet machines, it just doesn't exist. There are knitting machines and most knits we buy are made on machines, but crochet is different. It has to be done with human hands, one garment at a time. So if you buy some new "fast fashion" crocheted item for a cheap price, you know that an actual human slaved over that for many many hours and got paid peanuts for that labor.
watching in 2024... jenna, your personal and creative growth is so outstanding! I thought I had seen all your crochet videos but came back to watch this one. give yourself a little pat on the back :)
@Etleva Llambris I dont mean to sound rude, but why do you keep posting this link for a flower purse? It's not the same one the girl was asking about for a tutorial.... ????
When I started crocheting I spent 2 weeks doing it for 8h a day. Please take breaks and stretch your wrists/arms/fingers. I litterally have to rest for weeks before I can do anything now because I went too hard at the beginning. Learn from my mistake.
When I first learned to crochet 3 years ago I immediately fell in love with it. But I was really bummed because I have trouble with my hands and it hurt my hands and wrist. I thought I would have to give it up. Then I saw a recommendation for Furls hooks. I bought one and what a world of difference it made. If I use these hooks I can crochet for a long time without any pain. I am not a spokesperson for Furls. I recommend them highly for anyone who has problems with their hands.
Jenna, you’re the only person I know that can make watching a person crochet a sweater entertaining and fun!! So good for you ❤️❤️❤️ you always make me smile 😊
Girl... you nailed it! As a veteran of crochet I am shocked at how you persevered! You can pretty much crochet anything now. The crochet world is yours. But what is really awesome is that you are introducing an incredible craft to so many new people. Don’t forget that you now can take that basic sweater vest pattern and make it longer or change the crazy pattern or... make one with SLEEVES!! What! A SWEATER!!!🤔 Keep spreading the crochet gospel!
Your sweater vest turned out beautiful! I’ve been crocheting for awhile & never braved a sweater pattern yet! You’re brave & that’s not a beginner pattern( adding collar & sleeves & changing colors, etc.)! You’re next level now!
It is so great to see that you enjoy crocheting, knitting and sewing. You are encouraging a new generation to try, learn and actually make incredible wearable clothes. I was taught to make pillows and granny squares crochet. Knitting slippers. Sewing a blouse a bag and a pillow. You are great fun to watch create clothing. 🙂
So impressive making sweater vests as a beginner crocheter. When I started I made granny squares and granny stripes. I made hats and scarfs first. So well done you. You should be proud. I'm working on a waistcoat, it's taking forever, hours and hours, I can't spend 8 hours crocheting, need breaks.
wow....you just blew me away!! Amazing job! It's making me miss crocheting but I could only ever do beret type beanies. My squares never did get straight so I decided crocheting in a circle would be way easier. You should try a hat next! But then again, that will be cake for you!
i started my first ever crochet project a couple of days ago and finished it yesterday because i was adding a bunch of your videos to my queue and just crocheting along with you.
You are so good at everything!! I’m a new to crocheting and it’s good to know the smaller the hook the longer it will take. I definitely don’t spend that many hours crocheting. Lol! You did a great job!!
Hi Jenna I just wanna say, I recently found your channel! When I say your my new favourite RUclipsr, I MEAN IT. and I’ve been on here since the beginning of yet lol. THANK YOU
omg you are so pretty and honestly so relatable also the pupper is super cute. and watching this made me want to pick up a project I was working on again
I recently found your channel and got hooked by it. I have been watching all your crochet videos and it is quite endearing to see not only the struggle and effort it goes with crochet projects, but also how you progressively become better and better at it. I adore your energy and your videos are so much fun to watch. PS: I went ahead and clicked on the link for the pattern, but could not for the love of me make it work. I think it is broken or down, so sadly I can not make one sweater like this for myself. But it was fun to watch you doing it nonetheless.
Awh, thank you Amanda! I love crocheting as I find it the same at sewing but you can take it anywhere! I can’t wait to share future projects with you all!
wow Jenna! This is so impressive!!! When I first started out I made just scarves or rectangular bags for a whole year.... I also was like seven and crochet was not that fashionable like the way it is now! There are such cute patterns out there now! I love crochet. I also liked that you counted the hours you were working on this.
I’ve been crocheting over 50 years. A ribbed waistband like that will take a half hour to an hour once your experienced. Keep your chin up Jenna! Your determined! That’s half the battle. I didn’t start on garments until about 3 years ago!!
i once made a crop top with that back of the loop single crochet and it was so frustrating and took so long. the project went from my projected 1 month to a 3 month project hahaha.
My new life philosophy is, don't buy it, thrift it. Can't thrift it? Make it. You are for defs at lest intermediate by now. You level up from experience! :D Also you totally learn new things easily and they come out looking AMAZING
ok two things: first what's the stitch in the collar and bottom part? and I WAS THINKING OF DOING EMMAS SWEATER VEST THIS JUST MADE ME WANT TO DO IT SOOO MUCH MORE
Hiii loved this good job as always. Quick question… what type of crochet stitch did you use that was really fast? I want to make a sweater vest with just that one because it looks fast and I’m not good at waiting haha. 🐸 Oh also what stitch did you use for the waistband?? I don’t know anything about crocheting hahaha.
15:35 "it was 23 degrees yesterday why is it snowing outside" girl im from michigan and you about summed up spring weather here lol (for reference 20 degrees celsius equals about 68 degrees farenheit)
Firstly - that sweatervest is super cute!!!! Congrats on finishing it !! Secondly - how did your wrists not snap clean off crocheting that much for several days ? I would perish
Also...ribbing is a bitch, they always take the longest to crochet. A simple ribbed beanie could take 8hrs to do because of that damn rib stitch, but it always looks so polished and that's why I love it 😀
I don’t wanna say I’ve been waiting for this...buuuuut... I’ve been waiting for this when you posted on your ig story that you were doing a crochet video. I don’t even crochet.

i have never agreed more to a comment than this one. honestly, crocheting is so hard for me but im trying to learn.

I would recommend that you find the start of the yarn from the inside of the ball, so that the yarn doesn't tumble around
@Etleva Llambris I dont mean to sound rude, but why do you keep posting this link for a flower purse? It's not the same one the girl was asking about for a tutorial.... ????
@@lauraprue8763 omg yes
yeah i do like that too 😚

I felt that too yesterday night as I was crocheting, and I already had problems with my wrist from drawing too much earlier. Good advice.

You're not inexperienced. You're learning. It takes time :)
Honestly knitting is way quicker I find than crochet ! Xx
I’m opposite 😂depends on what you learned first
Uff, to me knitting is a big challenge, I'm more fast crocheting

bravo Jenna it looks beautiful and it fits so well too love your Benson sooooo cute thanks for sharing :)
I prefer to hold the hook like a pencil and I consider that’s easier. But it’s of course a personal choice😊😊
Wow. That view is incredible
So cute!!! You are amazing. Be proud.
UR DOING SO GOOD FOR BEING A BIGENNER OML
Your so cute! - wow- great job 👏🏼 your doing great. I’ve never crochet clothes, only Afghans.
A BEGINNER? THE TALENT YESSS!
I think it depends on the hook you are using. You might want to read the yarn label what size hook using. I learn that the hard way. I love video.
ok two things: first what's the stitch in the collar and bottom part? and I WAS THINKING OF DOING EMMAS SWEATER VEST THIS JUST MADE ME WANT TO DO IT SOOO MUCH MORE
