  • In this episode I am once again joined by Tibetologist, author, and Tantric Buddhist Lama Glenn Mullin.
Glenn explains the 4 Classes of Buddhist Tantra - Kriya, Charya, Yoga, and Anuttarayoga - including their history and development, and what distinguishes them from each other in practice and view.
Glenn reveals the structures of each level of Tantra, compares their creation and completion stage practices, and discusses the possible Persian origin of the Bön and Nyingma schools and their classification systems.
Glenn also guides a walk-through of the Kriya Tantra practice of Avalokiteshvara, using his own translation of the 3rd Dalai Lama’s practice text to illuminate each step.

I have had issues over the years listening to some buddhists and buddhist teachers who speak from a purely intellectual and religious energy and not from the more gnostic place that glenn speaks from. His relationship with, and immersion into, the great tantric masters of buddhism and the culture and continents related to this, is all inspiring. He even caries a tantric energy himself which is self defining and identifies himself as somewhat of an enlightened being. I miss Nepal dearly and cannot wait to return this magical land and hear once more the daily chanting of monks, the fire flys and well spiced but balanced food of the land. Like glenn I do not feel all together at home here in the west and often dream of, and remember the colours and textures of india and Nepal. Thank you guru viking for these special interviews that connect not only my mind but my soul back to a place and an energy which ignites the infinite tantric energy inside me. Much love from New Zealand

I am really grateful for these interviews given by Glenn Mullin in this series. Such a delight to listen to Glenn! Very precious indeed! I hope there will be more. By the way, I particular appreciate these interviews being put in a set. However, I noticed that Ep. 66 - Great Shamans of Mongolia seems to be missing in this series. Is it possible for this to be inserted. Many many thanks for your efforts!!

These Bodhisattvas are really interesting. I'm here wondering why he laughs so sarcastically when talking about so relevant vajrayana stuff. I guess all these tantra paraphernalia’s are just tools for deluded beings like me try to realize something that is ridiculous obvious..

It's because there is humor in it, it's not meant to be demeaning in any way. The longer I go on the path the more I find humor helpful anyway

As you yourself said once, Americans have a short attention span.. That may explain the need to shorten the size of books that were already popular in their original format. Hehe. Just kidding

Why the bizarre cackling after each statement, what an odd man, and as with most Tibetophiles totally blind to the glaring inconsistency within the early teaching of the Buddha and the Tibetan method?

@@margaritarudenko4268 Thank you I'm sure your missguided intentions are well meant. I was deeply involved in Vajrayana from the age of 19, I'm 60 now. I understand the concepts well, it is not Buddhism, it Padmasambhavaism. It is disingenuous to call it Buddhism, it's not the teaching of the Buddha. I suggest you read up on the early teachings given by the Buddha himself and eschew the Tibetan folk tales and magical mythology. May you know happiness and the causes of happiness.

So that means you've been meditating for 41 years now and all you have to leave after watching the whole video is judgment? I enjoyed his laughter, I would hope somebody at this level of practice is capable of having a sense of humor. Lucky for you there are other teachers. I am sure your misguided intentions are well meant anyway ;)
